Especially, dermatological diseases are frequent and affect life quality of elders. Epidemiological investigations for this population will be important for more effective medical care, according to the changing needing. Methods: Seven-hundred twenty geriatric outpatients admitted to the dermatology clinic, between the June 2012-June 2013, conducted to our study. Data of patients, which were collected from patient registry records on hospital computer automation system, were analyzed retrospectively. Results: A total of 820 dermatological diseases in geriatric patients were analyzed in 13 groups. The five most frequently encountered diseases were eczematous dermatitis 32.9%, senile pruritus 14.6%, superficial fungal infections 14.5%, urticarial diseases 7.4%, and benign and malign skin tumors 5%, respectively. Conclusion: As a result, we suggest, successful diagnosis and treatment of frequent dermatological diseases of elderly are important for health and life quality of patients. However, dermatological examinations, focusing only on complaints of patients, may contribute delayed diagnosis of superficial fungal diseases and some premalignant skin diseases

Scopu

Anaesthesia in Naxos disease: First case report

Naxos disease is a recessively inherited arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy in which the cardiac phenotype is associated with palmoplantar keratoderma and woolly hair. The hair phenotype is unique, characterized by congenital woolly, curly, rough, and light-colored scalp hair and sparse eyebrows. However, arrhythmias and severe cardiomyopathies are causes of severe life threatened intracardiac thrombus. Thrombus therapy needs private care and sedative, operative processes need to give close attention to these patients. In this case report, sedation given a patient who having severe congestive heart failure with huge mural thrombus in left ventriculus has been presented

A Rare Minor Trauma Causing Diabetic Hand Ulcer

A high prevalence of foot ulcers was confirmed among patients with diabetes, which are common indications for hospitalization, and usually associated with a long hospital stay with adverse outcomes including amputation and death. However, a diabetic hand is less recognized and is usually overlooked by clinicians. We see rare serials and case reports about a hand ulcer in diabetic patients. The aim of this case presentation is to explore clinical and treatment elements for a hand ulcer as well as a review of the literature. [Arch Clin Exp Surg 2013; 2(3.000): 207-209

WOS: 000326970200011PubMed ID: 23560687Purpose: To investigate the feasibility of the all-seeing needle for safe entry and creation of pneumoperitoneum in pediatric urologic laparoscopy. Patients and Methods: A total of 14 children underwent various transperitoneal urologic laparoscopic procedures. The all-seeing needle, which is 4.85F in diameter, was used for safe entry into the abdominal cavity at the site of the umblicus in all cases. The microoptic was integrated with the light system and connected via a zoom ocular enabling direct visualization of the layers between the skin and the peritoneal cavity. Once the intraperitoneal access was obtained, CO2 pneumoperitoneum was created from one port of the three-way connector attached to the proximal part of the needle. Then the laparoscopic trocars were placed under vision of the microoptical system. Results: Mean age of the children was 4.52.9 years. In all children, the all-seeing needle was safely introduced into the abdominal cavity under direct vision. Then, CO2 pneumoperitoneum was succesfully performed. The mean time for optical puncture was calculated as 1.1 +/- 0.8 minutes. No complication was encountered during the introduction of the needle, creation of the pneumoperitoneum, and placement of the trocars. Conclusions: The all-seeing needle appears to be beneficial in safe entry and for creating pneumoperitoneum in laparoscopic pediatric urology cases. It eliminates the disadvantages of the Veress needle, which is blunt insertion, and may possibly prevent complications
