Islamophobia in India and the Racial State
This article focuses on the relationship between nation-making and the emergence of Islamophobia in India. Studies on anti-Muslim violence and Islamophobia in India either tend to dismiss the concept or limit its deployment by identifying it within the actions of Hindu nationalist groups situating their rise as an exception to India’s secular and multicultural trajectory. Premising on the idea that Islamophobia should be understood as the negation of Muslim political subjectivity this article argues that Hindutva is not an aberration. Rather, it is a continuation of the Indian nation-making project with the Muslim placed as the other of this project. Further, the article frames India as a racial state and this argument would include identifying its systemic nature by looking at the sections of the Indian constitutions and constituent assembly debates. Thus, the Indian state will be understood not as a mere facilitator but as an embodiment of Brahminical hegemony that generates racial conflict and divisions and attempts to exclude or eliminate Muslimness through homogenizing or marginalizing processes
Nonpathological Inflammation Drives the Development of an Avian Flight Adaptation
The development of modern birds provides a window into the biology of their dinosaur ancestors. We investigated avian postnatal development and found that sterile inflammation drives formation of the pygostyle, a compound structure resulting from bone fusion in the tail. Inflammation is generally induced by compromised tissue integrity, but here is involved in normal bone development. Transcriptome profiling and immuno/histochemistry reveal a robust inflammatory response that resembles bone fracture healing. The data suggest the involvement of necroptosis and multiple immune cell types, notably heterophils (the avian equivalent of neutrophils). Additionally, nucleus pulposus structures, heretofore unknown in birds, are involved in disc remodeling. Anti-inflammatory corticosteroid treatment inhibited vertebral fusion, substantiating the crucial role of inflammation in the ankylosis process. This study shows that inflammation can drive developmental skeletogenesis, in this case leading to the formation of a flight-adapted tail structure on the evolutionary path to modern avians

Development of the reactor safety film
This paper summarizes the text and describes the processes followed to develop the first computer-generated film of LASL's Reactor Safety efforts. The 11-1/2 min film with narrative and musical background gives a brief overview of reactor components, of how LASL's Reactor Safety groups develop and verify computer codes to anticipate accidents, and of how these codes were applied to the Three Mile Island accident
Peak to average power reduction in OFDM
In this thesis, an overview of OFDM is discussed. It is followed by a brief survey of the most common techniques on PAPR reduction. A novel way of quantifying the distortion power when clipping is used for PAPR reduction is discussed through simulations. The major problems with the existing methods are bandwidth expansion and decreased data rate. Therefore the focus here is on a new technique called Carrier Interferometry OFDM (CI/OFDM) to enhance performance of OFDM systems without sacrificing bandwidth or data rate. Histogram of PAPR is used as a comparison tool to discuss the benefits of CI/OFDM against ordinary OFDM.Master of Science (Communications Engineering

Development of the reactor safety film
The first computer-generated film of LASL's Reactor Safety efforts was developed using the ANIMATE framework, a program that adds visual capabilities to MAPPER. Numerous software limitations had to be overcome within a very limited production schedule. A significant achievement was the 15,000-vector-per-frame sequence depicting a pressurized water reactor core with parts flashing while pumps circulate fluid through the system
