La Encuesta de Valores, que viene realizándose periódicamente desde los años 80, plantea algunas preguntas acerca de los inmigrantes, la actitud de la población hacia ellos, los valores que están detrás de la integración de los inmigrantes, etc. Esta comunicación analiza los datos de la última encuesta de 1999-2000 y muestra los diferentes tipos de valores que se detectan entre la población, en relación con los inmigrantes; el modelo de integración que se plantea referente a los extranjeros, y la solidaridad o rechazo existente frente al fenómeno migratorio. Todo ello, desde una perspectiva comparativa entre los países de la Unión Europea. También se examina la relación entre los valores existentes y el tipo de intervención social a desarrollar.The European Values Survey which has been done periodically since the 80s makes some questions about the immigrants: the attitudes of the population towards them, the values that are behind the integration of the immigrants,.... This paper analyses the results from the last Survey of 1999-2000, and shows, in a comparative european perspective, the different type of values related with the immigrants, the integration model that can be carried out with the immigrants and the solidarity or rejection with the migratory phenomenon. It also studies the relation between the existing values and the type of social work that can be developed

Cuidadores de ancianos dependientes : demandas y estrategias de apoyo

La figura del cuidador está adquiriendo una importancia creciente en una sociedad envejecida. Su participación está siendo fundamental para que sus familiares ancianos -especialmente los más débiles-, permanezcan en su entorno con una calidad de vida aceptable. Por ello, es necesario que desde la sociedad se conozca su realidad, con el fin de realizar acciones de apoyo que les permitan continuar con su labor, para cuidar a los cuidadores. Esta comunicación tiene su base en una investigación realizada recientemente sobre la situación y demandas de atención por parte de los familiares cuidadores de ancianos dependientes que viven en su propio domicilio. Tras presentar un perfil de los cuidadores -mejor habría que decir cuidadoras-, se profundizará en las líneas maestras que deben de guiar la actuación de las políticas sociales para mantener su implicación y desarrollar su participación. Para ello se analiza la opinión de los propios cuidadores, los profesionales de atención directa y los gestores de los servicios sociales.The role of the careers is acquiring an increasing importance in an aged society. Their participation is essential so that their elderly relatives - specially the weakest-, may remain in their own environment with an acceptable life quality. For this reason, the society needs to know their reality, in order to carry out support actions that may allow them to continue with their work, to take care of the elderly care givers. This communication is based on recent investigation studying the situation and demands of attention from the relatives of the elderly careers that take care of of dependent elders who live in their own home. After presenting a profile of the elderly care givers – mostly women-, will explain the main guidelines that must be considered so that the social policys may keep their implication and increase their participation. It will be analyzed the opinion of the elderly care givers themselves, the professionals who offer direct assistance, and the managers of the social services

Validation of microRNA expression profile in Oral Lichenoid Disease through cytological samples

To validate oral exfoliative cytology in the analysis of the microRNA expression profile in Oral Lichenoid Disease (OLD). The expression of 13 microRNAs identified and presented by our group in a previous study was analyzed in 26 cases, 16 diagnosed as OLD and 10 controls with no oral mucosal pathology. Cytological samples from the oral mucosa obtained using an Orcellex toothbrush were analyzed using RT-qPCR and TaqMan microRNA assays. The aberrant expression was validated for 2 microRNAs (miR-146a-5p and miR-7-1-3p) of those previously recognized in the biopsy study. This is the first time that oral exfoliative cytology is validated in a study of the alterations of the expression of microRNAs in OLD. The alteration of miR-146a and miR-7 compared to controls was validated. These microRNAs are associated with both inflammatory and carcinogenic phenomena that are involved in the etiopathogenesis of this potentially malignant oral disorder

Women in (Dis)placement: The Field of Studies on Migrations, Social Remittances, Care and Gender in Chile

This article presents current perspectives on the gender approach to the study of migration in Chile between 1990 and 2018, contextualizing it in light of international debates in the social sciences. We will discuss how the feminization and the growth of Latin American migrations have given rise to a prolific field of research, as exemplified by studies conducted in central and northern Chile. We will show how the concepts of social remittances and caregiving permeate the Chilean debate on migrant women. We conclude with reflections on topics and perspectives to be incorporated into the Chilean research agenda on gender and migration.Se presenta un estado del arte sobre el enfoque de género en los estudios de la migración en Chile entre 1990 y 2018, contextualizándolo a la luz de debates internacionales de las ciencias sociales. Abordaremos cómo la feminización y el incremento de las migraciones latinoamericanas inauguran un prolijo campo de investigaciones, articulado a través de estudios desarrollados en el centro y en el norte de Chile. Señalaremos cómo los conceptos de remesas sociales y cuidados permean el debate chileno sobre las mujeres migrantes. Managing the crisis in care and its relationship with the feminisation of migrations: a comparative analysis of the models in Spain and Chile

En los últimos años, España y Chile se han constituido en casos emblemáticos de países que han atravesado una profunda crisis del cuidado, y en respuesta a dicho fenómeno han comenzado a importar mano de obra inmigrante, fundamentalmente femenina, para hacerse cargo de las labores de reproducción social. La presente ponencia tiene por objetivo identificar y comparar los modelos de gestión de la crisis de los cuidados en España y Chile, conociendo cómo la política social ha dado respuesta en materia de distribución de la responsabilidad social del cuidado de personas dependientes entre el Estado, el mercado, la comunidad y la familia y qué régimen de bienestar social se encuentra asociado a dicha distribución. Los resultados aquí presentados forman parte de una investigación en curso, cuya metodología aplicada ha consistido en análisis bibliográfico, análisis de la normativa y la política social y análisis estadístico de fuentes secundarias.In recent years, Spain and Chile have become emblematic cases of countries that have gone through a major crisis in care, and which have responded by importing mainly female immigrants for this reproductive labour. This paper identifies and compares this crisis of care is managed in Spain and Chile, examining how social policy has responded in terms of spreading the responsibility for dependent care between the State, the market, the community and the family, and which social welfare regimen is linked to this spread. The results form part of an ongoing investigation, using an applied methodology involving bibliographic analysis, normative and social policy analysis, and statistical analysis of secondary sources.Este artículo forma parte del Proyecto FEM2009-09007 (Subprograma FE-ME): «Crisis del cuidado y migración.
