Internet and communications as elements for CIDT and Torture. Initial reflections in an unexplored field

The internet was once seen as a new and definitive window to freedom and a world without torture. There is however, another less obvious but perhaps more notorious side: torturous environments can also be created through the internet; a place where individu- als may be targeted for discrimination, coer- cion or control.There is a dearth of academic research and theoretical developments in this very new area of knowledge and this Edito- rial will review and reflect on various aspects, thereby suggesting possible lines of research

El Raonament probabilístic en alumnes d'educació infantil i de cicle mitjà d'educació primària

Es presenta un estudi realitzat amb alumnes d'educació infantil i d'educació primària per detectar els coneixements i els raonaments previs que tenen sobre probabilitat i atzar. A partir d'una activitat senzilla, s'han analitzat els seus raonaments probabilístics i s'ha fet una comparativa entre els alumnes d'educació infantil i els d'educació primària. Els resultats no mostren diferències significatives entre les dues poblacions de l'estudi, ja que la majoria dels alumnes té una òptica totalment determinista i no entén l'atzar. Aquests resultats coincideixen amb els d'altres autors com Inhelder i Piaget (1955), que afirmen que aquest raonament no s'obté fins a finals de l'educació primària.This article presents a study of kindergarten and primary school students designed to detect pre-existing knowledge and reasoning with respect to probability and chance. A simple activity was used to analyse probabilistic reasoning and a comparison between kindergarten and primary school students made. The results show no significant differences between the two groups, as most children do not understand chance due to their completely deterministic perspective. These results align with other authors, such as Piaget and Inhelder (1951), who argue that this type of reasoning is not obtained until the end of primary education

First, these type of problems and the existant rules are defined (we study the proportional rule, the head tax, the leveling tax and the Talmud rule, and some combinations of them), followed by the definitions of many traits that rules can have and the proofs of the compliance of each one for each rule studied, to do a posterior characterization. Finally, we analyze in detail the characteristics of progressivity and what makes a rule more progressive than another

Nitrate content in vegetables and fruits consumed throughout the year in Portugal

Os nitratos são comuns na natureza e amplamente encontrados em alimentos, água e solo, embora sejam os produtos hortícolas a sua principal fonte de ingestão. Os produtos hortícolas têm uma função nutricional essencial e desempenham um papel importante na proteção da saúde mas quando consumidos em excesso, os nitratos podem causar efeitos adversos. No sentido de poder avaliar a exposição alimentar da população a nitratos é importante determinar os teores de nitratos nos alimentos na forma como são consumidos e conhecer como os seus valores podem ser influenciados pela sazonalidade. Neste estudo, a quantificação do nitrato foi realizada através de um método HPLC-UV aplicado em 17 amostras diferentes de produtos hortícolas e frutos obtidas através do estudo piloto no âmbito do projeto Total Diet Study Exposure (TDS-Exposure). O teor de nitrato nas amostras variou entre 11 e 2369 mg/kg de produto. Na alface, produto hortícola que possui teores máximos legislados, a concentração de nitrato em todas as amostras foi menor que os limites máximos permitidos (2500 a 4500 mg/kg). Relativamente ao efeito da sazonalidade, as variações encontradas em algumas das amostras não foram na sua maioria significativas.Nitrates compounds are common in nature and widely found in foods, waters and soils, although vegetables are considered the main source of dietar y nitrate intake. Vegetables have an essential nutritional function and play an impor tant role in health protection, but when consumed in excess, nitrates could cause adverse ef fects. In order to assess the dietar y exposure of the population to nitrates, it is impor tant to determine the levels of nitrates in food in the way they are consumed and to know how their values can be influenced by seasonality. In this study, nitrate quantification was per formed using an HPLC-UV method applied to 17 dif ferent samples of vegetables and fruits obtained through the pilot study under the Total Diet Study Exposure project (TDS-Exposure). Com les concepcions que tenen quatre mestres sobre la ciència influeixen en el seu model didàctic

Curs 2015-2016Aquest treball que llegireu a continuació, té com a objectiu principal investigar sobre com les concepcions que tenen els mestres en relació a la ciència influeixen en el seu model didàctic. El meu interès en dur a terme aquest treball va sorgir principalment, arran de la realització del Màster d’Innovació en Didàctiques Específiques. El fet d’haver dut a terme unes pràctiques enfocades en analitzar com era la metodologia del centre, observar quin paper tenien i com actuaven els mestres dins l’aula, parlar amb ells i veure quina era la seva visió e relació a l’ensenyament de les ciències, etc; tot això, em va fer reflexionar i em va portar a preguntar-me com les concepcions que tenien els mestres en relació a les ciències influïen en la seva manera d’ensenyar-les, és a dir, en el seu model didàctic. Per tant, vaig pensar que podria ser interessant explorar més a fons el pensament del professorat i investigar quina és la relació que s’estableix entre les seves concepcions i les pràctiques que duen a terme a l’aula. A més, centrant-nos en l’àmbit acadèmic, aquest treball de recerca pot ajudar a entendre una mica millor la importància de dur a terme investigacions d’aquest estil que permetin indagar en el pensament del professorat. Únicament així, podrem conèixer quina influència tenen les concepcions dels mestres en el procés d’ensenyament de les ciències i arribar a unes conclusions que ens permetin, en cas que sigui necessari, intervenir per tal d’ajudar als mestres a modificar les seves concepcions i fer evolucionar el seu model didàctic.Tutor/a: Arnau Amat i Vinyole

La lectura fácil en Cataluña (2018-2019)

Durant els anys 2018 i 2019 la lectura fàcil s’està consolidant al nostre territori. L’accessibilitat als continguts, és a dir, fer la informació més accessible pensant en les persones amb dificultats lectores, s’està obrint pas en molts sectors que fins ara no ho tenien com a prioritat. És el cas d’administracions, biblioteques, museus, teatres i la cultura en general. Però en d’altres àmbits, com ara el judicial, continua faltant un impuls per fer arribar els seus continguts de manera planera a tota la ciutadania. En tots els àmbits, però, manca una institució que inclogui l’accessibilitat cognitiva com a eix transversal en tota la seva comunicació.In 2018 and 2019, Easy-to-read materials have continued to establish themselves in Catalonia. Many institutions – libraries, museums, theatres and culture in general - now acknowledge the importance of providing access to comprehensible materials for people with reading difficulties. But in other areas, such as the law, few attempts have been made to make content accessible to all people in a straightforward way. There is a clear need for an institution that regards cognitive accessibility as a priority in all aspects of its communication.Durante los años 2018 y 2019 la Lectura Fácil se está consolidando en nuestro territorio. La accesibilidad a los contenidos, es decir, favorecer una información más accesible pensando en las personas con dificultades lectoras, se está abriendo paso en muchos sectores que hasta ahora no lo tenían como una de sus prioridades. Es el caso de administraciones, bibliotecas, museos, teatros y de la cultura en general. Pero en otros ámbitos, como por ejemplo el judicial, sigue faltando un impulso para hacer llegar sus contenidos de manera sencilla a toda la ciudadanía. Differential expression of versican isoforms is a component of the human melanoma cell differentiation process

AbstractVersican is a large chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan produced by human melanoma cell lines and malignant melanocytic lesions. In the present work, we have analyzed the expression of versican spliced variants V0, V1, V2 and V3 in human melanoma cell lines at several differentiation degrees. The isoform expression pattern depends on the degree of cell differentiation. Differentiated cell lines do not produce any of the versican isoforms as analyzed by Western blot, Northern blot and RT-PCR. All cell lines with an early or intermediate degree of differentiation (AX3, SK-mel-37, Rider, SK-mel-1.36-1–5 and SK-mel-3.44) expressed V0 and V1 transcripts, whereas V2 and V3 expression was shown only by the undifferentiated cell lines SK-mel-1.36-1–5 and Rider. Furthermore, we have analyzed the expression of versican isoforms in SK-mel-3.44 and SK-mel-1.36-1–5 cells induced to differentiate by TPA treatment. The expression of the large V0, V1 and V2 isoforms practically disappears in differentiated cells, whereas V3 remains detectable by RT-PCR analysis
