    Eigensinnige Professionalität? Zur Bedeutung "beruflicher Identität" im Kontext von Subjektivierung

    Der Beitrag greift einen in der Debatte um die Subjektivierung von Arbeit bislang vernachlässigten Aspekt auf. Im Kern geht es um jene Dimensionen von Beruflichkeit, die sich nicht aus den Anforderungs- und Organisationsstrukturen des Arbeitsmarktes ableiten, sondern auf berufsbiographischen Prägungen, Wissensbeständen und antizipierten Werten basieren. Hierfür werden Ansätze der beruflichen Sozialisationsforschung aufgegriffen und auf den gesamten berufsbiographischen Verlauf erweitert. Eröffnet wird ein Zugang, der berufliche Identitäten in ihrer Entwicklung und auf der Basis aufgeschichteter Erfahrungen im Kontext feldspezifischer Voraussetzungen zu rekonstruieren ermöglicht. Professionssoziologisch inspiriert werden Bedingungen der Wertschöpfung und Leistungserbringung sowie die fachliche Wissensbasis und berufskulturelle Prämissen als sozialisatorisch relevante Faktoren berücksichtigt. Illustriert wird dies anhand empirischer Beispiele, die sich aus sich dynamisch wandelnden und von starken Ökonomisierungstendenzen gekennzeichneten Dienstleistungen rekrutieren.The article addresses a more or less neglected aspect of the German debate about the subjectification of work. It is focussed on the dimensions of professionalism not deriving from organizational structures and requirements of the job market but from working experiences, knowledge and anticipated values during individual working biographies. Therefore, approaches on the professional socialisation are revisited that open up an analytical perspective on professional identities in a field’s specific framework. Furthermore, sociology of professions suggests taking into consideration the conditions of value creation and performance, the disciplinary knowledge and professional cultures for the purpose of the reconstruction of working identities. This is illustrated by some empirical examples taken from fields of work which are in particular characterized by dynamic transformation and increasing economisation

    Full quantum control of enantiomer-selective state transfer in chiral molecules despite degeneracy

    The driven quantum asymmetric top is an important paradigm in molecular physics with applications ranging from quantum information to chiral-sensitive spectroscopy. A key prerequisite for these applications is the ability to completely control the rotational dynamics. The inherent degeneracy of quantum rotors poses a challenge for quantum control since selecting a particular rotational state cannot be achieved by spectral selection alone. Here, we prove complete controllability for rotational states of an asymmetric top belonging to degenerate values of the orientational quantum number M. Based on this insight, we construct a pulse sequence that energetically separates population in degenerate M-states. Introducing the concept of enantio-selective controllability, we determine the conditions for complete enantiomer-specific population transfer in chiral molecules and construct pulse sequences for the example of propanediol and carvone molecules for population initially distributed over degenerate M-states. Our work shows how to leverage controllability analysis for the solution of practical quantum control problems

    <i>Mycoplasma pneumoniae</i> IgG positivity is associated with tic severity in chronic tic disorders

    Infectious pathogens may represent an environmental risk factor for chronic tic disorders (CTD). This cross-sectional study aimed to determine whether Mycoplasma pneumoniae (M. pneumoniae) IgG positivity is associated with the presence or severity of tics. We compared M. pneumoniae IgG positivity across three groups: children and adolescents (3-16 years) with CTD (CTD group; n=302); siblings (3-10 years) of people with CTD who developed tics within a seven-year follow-up period (tic onset group; n=51); siblings (4-10 years) who did not develop tics within the study period and were ≥ 10-years-old at their last assessment (unaffected group; n=88). The relationship between M. pneumoniae IgG positivity and the presence and severity of tics was analysed using multilevel models controlling for site, family relatedness, sex, age, presence of comorbid obsessive-compulsive and/or attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder and use of psychotropic medication. M. pneumoniae IgG positivity was not associated with the presence of CTD, or the first onset of tics as compared to siblings who remained unaffected. M. pneumoniae IgG positivity was associated with a higher tic severity score within the CTD group (β=2.64, s.e.=1.15, p=0.02). It is possible that M. pneumoniae infection influences tic severity in CTD or, that having more severe tics, increases the risk of infection. However, it is more likely that the association observed in this study reflects a propensity toward enhanced immune responses in people with CTD and that, rather than a causal relationship, infection and greater tic severity are indirectly linked via shared underlying immune mechanisms

    Formation of ultracold SrYb molecules in an optical lattice by photoassociation spectroscopy: theoretical prospects

    State-of-the-art {\em ab initio} techniques have been applied to compute the potential energy curves for the SrYb molecule in the Born-Oppenheimer approximation for the ground state and first fifteen excited singlet and triplet states within the coupled-cluster framework. The leading long-range coefficients describing the dispersion interactions at large interatomic distances are also reported. The electric transition dipole moments have been obtained as the first residue of the polarization propagator computed with the linear response coupled-cluster method restricted to single and double excitations. Spin-orbit coupling matrix elements have been evaluated using the multireference configuration interaction method restricted to single and double excitations with a large active space. The electronic structure data was employed to investigate the possibility of forming deeply bound ultracold SrYb molecules in an optical lattice in a photoassociation experiment using continuous-wave lasers. Photoassociation near the intercombination line transition of atomic strontium into the vibrational levels of the strongly spin-orbit mixed b3Σ+b^3\Sigma^+, a3Πa^3\Pi, A1ΠA^1\Pi, and C1ΠC^1\Pi states with subsequent efficient stabilization into the v=1v^{\prime\prime}=1 vibrational level of the electronic ground state is proposed. Ground state SrYb molecules can be accumulated by making use of collisional decay from v=1v^{\prime\prime}=1 to v=0v^{\prime\prime}=0. Alternatively, photoassociation and stabilization to v=0v^{\prime\prime}=0 can proceed via stimulated Raman adiabatic passage provided that the trapping frequency of the optical lattice is large enough and phase coherence between the pulses can be maintained over at least tens of microseconds

    Vitamin D levels in children and adolescents with chronic tic disorders: a multicentre study

    This study investigated whether vitamin D is associated with the presence or severity of chronic tic disorders and their psychiatric comorbidities. This cross-sectional study compared serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D] (ng/ml) levels among three groups: children and adolescents (3-16 years) with CTD (n = 327); first-degree relatives (3-10 years) of individuals with CTD who were assessed for a period of up to 7 years for possible onset of tics and developed tics within this period (n = 31); and first-degree relatives who did not develop tics and were ≥ 10 years old at their last assessment (n = 93). The relationship between 25(OH)D and the presence and severity of tics, as well as comorbid obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), were analysed controlling for age, sex, season, centre, latitude, family relatedness, and comorbidities. When comparing the CTD cohort to the unaffected cohort, the observed result was contrary to the one expected: a 10 ng/ml increase in 25(OH)D was associated with higher odds of having CTD (OR 2.08, 95% CI 1.27-3.42, p &lt; 0.01). There was no association between 25(OH)D and tic severity. However, a 10 ng/ml increase in 25(OH)D was associated with lower odds of having comorbid ADHD within the CTD cohort (OR 0.55, 95% CI 0.36-0.84, p = 0.01) and was inversely associated with ADHD symptom severity (β = - 2.52, 95% CI - 4.16-0.88, p &lt; 0.01). In conclusion, lower vitamin D levels were not associated with a higher presence or severity of tics but were associated with the presence and severity of comorbid ADHD in children and adolescents with CTD

    Role of complement and antibodies in controlling infection with pathogenic simian immunodeficiency virus (SIV) in macaques vaccinated with replication-deficient viral vectors

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>We investigated the interplay between complement and antibodies upon priming with single-cycle replicating viral vectors (SCIV) encoding SIV antigens combined with Adeno5-SIV or SCIV pseudotyped with murine leukemia virus envelope boosting strategies. The vaccine was applied via spray-immunization to the tonsils of rhesus macaques and compared with systemic regimens.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>Independent of the application regimen or route, viral loads were significantly reduced after challenge with SIVmac239 (p < 0.03) compared to controls. Considerable amounts of neutralizing antibodies were induced in systemic immunized monkeys. Most of the sera harvested during peak viremia exhibited a trend with an inverse correlation between complement C3-deposition on viral particles and plasma viral load within the different vaccination groups. In contrast, the amount of the observed complement-mediated lysis did not correlate with the reduction of SIV titres.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>The heterologous prime-boost strategy with replication-deficient viral vectors administered exclusively via the tonsils did not induce any neutralizing antibodies before challenge. However, after challenge, comparable SIV-specific humoral immune responses were observed in all vaccinated animals. Immunization with single cycle immunodeficiency viruses mounts humoral immune responses comparable to live-attenuated immunodeficiency virus vaccines.</p

    Iota-Carrageenan Is a Potent Inhibitor of Influenza A Virus Infection

    The 2009 flu pandemic and the appearance of oseltamivir-resistant H1N1 influenza strains highlight the need for treatment alternatives. One such option is the creation of a protective physical barrier in the nasal cavity. In vitro tests demonstrated that iota-carrageenan is a potent inhibitor of influenza A virus infection, most importantly also of pandemic H1N1/2009 in vitro. Consequently, we tested a commercially available nasal spray containing iota-carrageenan in an influenza A mouse infection model. Treatment of mice infected with a lethal dose of influenza A PR8/34 H1N1 virus with iota-carrageenan starting up to 48 hours post infection resulted in a strong protection of mice similar to mice treated with oseltamivir. Since alternative treatment options for influenza are rare, we conclude that the nasal spray containing iota-carrageenan is an alternative to neuraminidase inhibitors and should be tested for prevention and treatment of influenza A in clinical trials in humans
