Compensator design for low-sensitivity linear time-invariant systems (COMPDES)
Digital computer program written in FORTRAN 4 has capability of synthesizing low order compensators to stabilize dynamical system in presence of parameter variations. Design scheme is accomplished by means of sensitivity function which is minimized with respect to eigenvalues
Public Options and Altruistic Firms - Antitrust Targets or Tools? The Welfare Impact of a Mixed Oligopoly With Managerial firms
I analyse the welfare impact of a mixed market with a public or private firm with some degree of altruism, in the presence of an agency problem. Contrary to some earlier findings, the total surplus turns out to be increasing in the degree of altruism. This impact is stronger than if there is no agency problem, despite more stringent conditions for the market to remain mixed. The altruistic firm is more cost-efficient, and viable if the market can remain
mixed. A competition policy that encourages entry may increase welfare, but its scope is reduced by higher altruism.non-profit maximising firms, public firms, mixed

Privatisation and Public Ownership in Finland
Finlandâs state-enterprise sector has been larger than in most countries and included several manufacturing companies. These were usually established because of a scarcity of private venture capital, with a mission to contribute to industrialisation. Some companies have now been privatised in a process that has been fairly successful in its stated aims of generating revenues and achieving industrial restructuring. But the state-owned companies have also been fairly successful, so there is no evidence of improved financial performance or cost efficiency despite stronger focus on profits. Costs have on the other hand often been reduced in traditional public-sector industries, where private provision has increased with deregulation and/or competitive tendering and more commercial objectives. The consequences for allocative efficiency are however ambiguous, because of changes in quality and working conditions.privatisation, public ownership, Finland
Identification of nonlinear kinematic hardening parameters for sheet metal from biaxial loading tests
In this work an anisotropic material model at ïŹnite strains with nonlinear mixed (isotropic and kinematic) hardening is used for the identiïŹcation of the hardening parameters of sheet steel. The algorithmic system is thereby reduced to a single equation return mapping. For the identiïŹcation, a cruciform specimen is loaded biaxially in an alternating shear test to provoke the kinematic hardening behavior and prevent the sheet from buckling. The material parameters are found through an optimization strategy by comparing the deformation ïŹeld from the experiment to that from a ïŹnite element (FE) simulation. The resulting cost function is minimized by means of a gradient-based method
Das Intrarotspektrum von matrixisoliertem SFCI
The new compound SFCl was obtained by UV photolysis of FC(O)SCl in rare gas matrix and by UV photolysis of Cl2/SF3SF in the gas phase. Isotopic substitution verifies the molecular identity. Eight frequencies from three isotropic molecules determine the force constants fSF = 4.30 and fscl = 2.90 102N/m
Instructional Leadership, Teaching Quality, and Student Achievement: Suggestive Evidence from Three Urban School Districts
Does providing instruction-related professional development to school principals set in motion a chain of events that can improve teaching and learning in their schools? This report examines professional development efforts by the University of Pittsburgh's Institute for Learning in elementary schools in Austin, St. Paul, and New York City
Influence of physical and chemical factors on biological leaching process of copper from printed circuit boards
The article presents the results of the research regarding the biological leaching of this metal from electronic wastes components in the form of printed circuit boards. The purpose of the study was to evaluate the influence of some physical and chemical factors (e.g. pH, oxidation-reduction potential) on bioleaching process and efficiency of copper transfer from solid phase into solution. Bioleaching experiments were carried out with pure cultures of Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans. The obtained results were discussed
