Comparison of synergistic effect of ethylene-propane and ethylene-DME on soot formation of ethylene-air flame

ethylene-dimethyl ester (DME) mixtures on soot formation
were investigated experimentally using a co-flow diffusion
flame burner. The soot volume fraction, soot particle diameter,
and number density were measured and compared to the
homogenous mixture. Addition of DME and propane to the
ethylene fuel increased soot volume fraction in the ethylene
flames. The ethylene-propane has more pronounced synergistic
effect in comparison to the ethylene–DME flames. This is due
to the fact that during the decomposition of propane some
methyl radicals are generated. The reactions related to these
methyl radicals promote the formation of propargyl radicals
consequently the formation of benzene through propargyl selfreaction
and finally to the soot formation. Although DME
decomposition produces methyl, C-O bond in the DME
removes some carbon from the reaction path to form soot.
Hence the soot formation in ethylene-DME mixture is much
lower than that of ethylene-propane mixture.cs201
Pentaquark baryon production at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider
Production of pentaquark baryons in central relativistic heavy ion
collisions is studied in a kinetic model. Assuming that a quark-gluon plasma is
produced in the collisions, we first determine the number of
produced from the quark-gluon plasma using a parton coalescence model, and then
take into consideration its production and absorption in subsequent hadronic
matter via the reactions ,
, and \piN\leftrightarrow\bar K\Theta. We find
that although the final number is affected by hadronic interactions,
it remains sensitive to the initial number of produced from the
quark-gluon plasma, particularly in the case of a small width as
imposed by the and scattering data. Because of small baryon
chemical potential in the hot dense matter produced in these collisions, the
number of produced anti- is only slightly smaller than that of

Cost-effectiveness of all-oral regimens for the treatment of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis in Korea: comparison with conventional injectable-containing regimens
Background
Regimens for the treatment of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) have been changed from injectable-containing regimens to all-oral regimens. The economic effectiveness of new all-oral regimens compared with conventional injectable-containing regimens was scarcely evaluated. This study was conducted to compare the cost-effectiveness between all-oral longer-course regimens (the oral regimen group) and conventional injectable-containing regimens (the control group) to treat newly diagnosed MDR-TB patients.
Methods
A health economic analysis over lifetime horizon (20 years) from the perspective of the healthcare system in Korea was conducted. We developed a combined simulation model of a decision tree model (initial two years) and two Markov models (remaining 18 years, six-month cycle length) to calculate the incremental cost-effectiveness ratio (ICER) between the two groups. The transition probabilities and cost in each cycle were assumed based on the published data and the analysis of health big data that combined country-level claims data and TB registry in 2013–2018. Results: The oral regimen group was assumed to spend 20,778 USD more and lived 1.093 years or 1.056 quality-adjusted life year (QALY) longer than the control group. The ICER of the base case was calculated to be 19,007 USD/life year gained and 19,674 USD/QALY. The results of sensitivity analyses showed that base case results were very robust and stable, and the oral regimen was cost-effective with a 100% probability for a willingness to pay more than 21,250 USD/QALY.
Conclusion
This study confirmed that the new all-oral longer regimens for the treatment of MDR-TB were cost-effective in replacing conventional injectable-containing regimens
The Dependence of the Superconducting Transition Temperature of Organic Molecular Crystals on Intrinsically Non-Magnetic Disorder: a Signature of either Unconventional Superconductivity or Novel Local Magnetic Moment Formation
We give a theoretical analysis of published experimental studies of the
effects of impurities and disorder on the superconducting transition
temperature, T_c, of the organic molecular crystals kappa-ET_2X and beta-ET_2X
(where ET is bis(ethylenedithio)tetrathiafulvalene and X is an anion eg I_3).
The Abrikosov-Gorkov (AG) formula describes the suppression of T_c both by
magnetic impurities in singlet superconductors, including s-wave
superconductors and by non-magnetic impurities in a non-s-wave superconductor.
We show that various sources of disorder lead to the suppression of T_c as
described by the AG formula. This is confirmed by the excellent fit to the
data, the fact that these materials are in the clean limit and the excellent
agreement between the value of the interlayer hopping integral, t_perp,
calculated from this fit and the value of t_perp found from angular-dependant
magnetoresistance and quantum oscillation experiments. If the disorder is, as
seems most likely, non-magnetic then the pairing state cannot be s-wave. We
show that the cooling rate dependence of the magnetisation is inconsistent with
paramagnetic impurities. Triplet pairing is ruled out by several experiments.
If the disorder is non-magnetic then this implies that l>=2, in which case
Occam's razor suggests that d-wave pairing is realised. Given the proximity of
these materials to an antiferromagnetic Mott transition, it is possible that
the disorder leads to the formation of local magnetic moments via some novel
mechanism. Thus we conclude that either kappa-ET_2X and beta-ET_2X are d-wave
superconductors or else they display a novel mechanism for the formation of
localised moments. We suggest systematic experiments to differentiate between

Search for the Electric Dipole Moment of the tau Lepton
We have searched for a CP violation signature arising from an electric dipole
moment (d_tau) of the tau lepton in the e+e- -> tau+tau- reaction. Using an
optimal observable method and 29.5 fb^{-1} of data collected with the Belle
detector at the KEKB collider at sqrt{s} = 10.58 GeV, we find Re(d_tau) = (1.15
+- 1.70) x 10^{-17} ecm and Im(d_tau) = (-0.83 +- 0.86) x 10^{-17} ecm and set
the 95% confidence level limits -2.2 < Re(d_tau) < 4.5 (10^{-17}ecm) and -2.5 <

Study of Decays
We report on a study of decays using
29.1 fb of annihilation data recorded at the
resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB storage ring. Making no
assumptions about the intermediate mechanism, the branching fractions for
and are
determined to be and respectively. An analysis of candidates yields to the first observation of the color-suppressed
hadronic decay with the branching fraction . We measure the ratio of branching fractions

Measurement of the Branching Fraction for B->eta' K and Search for B->eta'pi+
We report measurements for two-body charmless B decays with an eta' meson in
the final state. Using 11.1X10^6 BBbar pairs collected with the Belle detector,
we find BF(B^+ ->eta'K^+)=(79^+12_-11 +-9)x10^-6 and BF(B^0 ->
eta'K^0)=(55^+19_-16 +-8)x10^-6, where the first and second errors are
statistical and systematic, respectively. No signal is observed in the mode B^+
-> eta' pi^+, and we set a 90% confidence level upper limit of BF(B^+->
eta'pi^+) eta'K^+- decays is
investigated and a limit at 90% confidence level of -0.20<Acp<0.32 is obtained.Comment: Submitted to Physics Letters
Observation of Cabibbo-suppressed and W-exchange Lambda_c^+ baryon decays
We present measurements of the Cabibbo-suppressed decays Lambda_c^+ -->
Lambda0 K+ and Lambda_c^+ --> Sigma0 K+ (both first observations), Lambda_c^+
--> Sigma+ K+ pi- (seen with large statistics for the first time), Lambda_c^+
--> p K+ K- and Lambda_c^+ --> p phi (measured with improved accuracy).
Improved branching ratio measurements for the decays Lambda_c^+ --> Sigma+ K+
K- and Lambda_c^+ --> Sigma+ phi, which are attributed to W-exchange diagrams,
are shown. We also present the first evidence for Lambda_c^+ --> Xi(1690)^0 K+
and set an upper limit on the non-resonant decay Lambda_c^+ --> Sigma+ K+ K-.
This analysis was performed using 32.6 fb^{-1} of data collected by the Belle

On the selection of AGN neutrino source candidates for a source stacking analysis with neutrino telescopes
The sensitivity of a search for sources of TeV neutrinos can be improved by
grouping potential sources together into generic classes in a procedure that is
known as source stacking. In this paper, we define catalogs of Active Galactic
Nuclei (AGN) and use them to perform a source stacking analysis. The grouping
of AGN into classes is done in two steps: first, AGN classes are defined, then,
sources to be stacked are selected assuming that a potential neutrino flux is
linearly correlated with the photon luminosity in a certain energy band (radio,
IR, optical, keV, GeV, TeV). Lacking any secure detailed knowledge on neutrino
production in AGN, this correlation is motivated by hadronic AGN models, as
briefly reviewed in this paper.
The source stacking search for neutrinos from generic AGN classes is
illustrated using the data collected by the AMANDA-II high energy neutrino
detector during the year 2000. No significant excess for any of the suggested

Measurements of Branching Fractions and Decay Amplitudes in B-> J/\psi K^* decays
The branching fractions and the decay amplitudes of B -> J/psi K^* decays are
measured in a 29.4/fb data sample collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB
electron-positron collider. The decay amplitudes of helicity states of the
J/psi K^* system are determined from the full angular distribution of the final
state particles in the transversity basis. The branching fractions are measured
to be (1.29\pm0.05\pm0.13) \times 10^{-3} for neutral mesons and
(1.28\pm0.07\pm0.14) \times 10^{-3} for charged mesons. The measured
longitudinal and transverse (perpendicular to the transversity plane)
amplitudes are |A_0|^2 = 0.62\pm0.02\pm0.03 and |A_{\perp}|^2 =
0.19\pm0.02\pm0.03, respectively. The value of |A_{\perp}|^2 shows that the CP
even component dominates in the B^0 \to J/\psi K^{*0}(K_S\pi^0) decay.Comment: 17 pages, 3 figures, 5 tables, to appear in Phys. Lett.
