To better understand the detraining effects in soccer, the purpose of the study was to ana- lyse if performance level of soccer players modulate repeated-sprint ability (RSA) and inter- mittent endurance changes during 2-weeks of detraining (i.e., in-season break). Seventeen professional and sixteen young elite soccer players of two different teams performed, before and after 2-weeks of detraining, the RSA test and the Yo-Yo Intermittent Recovery Test, level 1 (YYIR1). Before detraining, professional players perform better (p < 0.05) RSA best time (RSAbest) than young players. A decrease (p < 0.05) in RSAbest, RSA total time (RSAtotal) and mean time (RSAmean) performance was observed in both teams, without changes in RSA fatigue index (Sdec). No significant changes in distance covered during YYIR1 was observed in any team. Before detraining, faster players from both teams (FG) (following the median split technique, soccer players with RSAbest 3.95 s) performed bet- ter (p < 0.01) in RSAtotal, RSAmean and RSAbest, but worse (p < 0.01) in Sdec. Although FG and the slower players (SG, RSAbest > 3.95 s) showed a worse (p < 0.05) RSAtotal, RSAbest and RSAmean performance after detraining (ES = 1.5, 1.4 and 2.9; ES = 0.6, 1.2 and 0.6; for FG and SG, respectively), the deterioration was greater in the FG for RSAbest (p < 0.05) and RSAtotal (ES = 1.46). After detraining, FG improved (p < 0.05) Sdec performance. In conclu- sion, a 2-week in-season break (detraining) period induced a worse RSA, with no effect on intermittent endurance in professional and elite young soccer players, with greater detrimen- tal effects on RSAtotal and RSAbest in FG. In addition, Sdec does not seem to be sensitive to changes in RSA after a 2-week in-season break.S

Palabras clave: Planificación de la producción, calendarización de la producción, industria porcina./ABSTRACT: This document provides an advance in the field of Production Planning in Chilean pork industry framed the thesis master's degree in operations management, which broadly aims at designing a central planning model production, which is complemented with models of efficiency analysis through data envelopment analysis. Together, these tools provide a suggested plan production decision makers considering a near-optimal settings to ensure the good performance of the core processes of the production system in a slaughtering plant and exporter of pork representative of Chilean pork industry. The planning and production scheduling has been the subject of much research, which has justified its importance within the value chains of companies, tending impacts on the production process. In this sense, the year 2009 was critical to the swine industry. The global financial crisis with the collapse of world markets, rising input prices and oil, changes in the exchange rate and loss of profitability crawling since 2008, forced to make adjustments in production national and international swine. Discussions with operational staff of a company belonging to ASPROCER indicate the lack of systems to support the slaughter process from the point of view of production optimization. After a thorough review authors concluded that the vast majority have focused their efforts through the use of hierarchical models for production, the meat sector being the least referenced, so this thesis is presented as a contribution to the state of art and as support for industry on a growth path. Key Words: production planning, scheduling production planning, pork industry

Synthesis, Biological Evaluation, and Molecular Docking Study of 3-Amino and 3-Hydroxy-seco A Derivatives of α-Amyrin and 3-Epilupeol as Inhibitors of COX-2 Activity and NF-kB Activation

In this study, a series of novel 3-seco-A derivatives of the natural triterpenes α-amyrin (1) and 3-epilupeol (2) were synthesized by a one-pot radical scission–oxidation procedure and evaluated in vitro and in vivo for their capacity to inhibit the inflammatory process. For the in vitro studies, the trans-4-hydroxy-l-proline methyl ester derivatives (1f and 2f) were consistently effective in inhibiting NO, IL-6, and TNF-α secretion, as well as inhibition of NF-κB activation, in RAW cells stimulated by LPS. The further in vivo anti-inflammatory study revealed that the trans-4-hydroxy-l-proline methyl ester derivatives (1f and 2f), together with 1g, were the most effective in inhibiting TPA-induced edema. Interestingly, the α-amyrin derivatives were the most potent inhibitors of COX-2, but inhibited COX-1 only to some extent. The hydroxyl derivative (1c) was selective for COX-2 inhibition (66.3 ± 1.1% at 17.5 μM) without affecting the COX-1 isoform and did not present toxicity. Molecular docking studies revealed that these compounds bind with their polar region in the cavity over Arg-120, and their lipophilic part is orientated to the HEM cofactor similarly to the natural substrate arachidonic acid in the catalytic site of COX-2. These results indicated that seco-A ursane derivatives could be considered promising candidates for the future development of selective NF-κB and COX-2 inhibitors. This work was supported by funding from the Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología (Grants CB2014-01 240801 and LN294406). Sites with exceptional preservation of organic materials provide a unique opportunity for further research. The burial site of Cueva de los Murciélagos in southern Iberia, uncovered during 19th-century mining activities, contained the best-preserved hunter-gatherer basketry in southern Europe, together with other unique organic artifacts associated with the first farming communities, such as sandals and a wooden hammer. We present 14 14C dates for the perishable artifacts (N = 76), situating the assemblage between the Early and Middle Holocene (c. 7500 to 4200 cal BCE). Impact of Biological Agents on Postsurgical Complications in Inflammatory Bowel Disease : A Multicentre Study of Geteccu

    Get PDF
Background: The impact of biologics on the risk of postoperative complications (PC) in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is still an ongoing debate. This lack of evidence is more relevant for ustekinumab and vedolizumab. Aims: To evaluate the impact of biologics on the risk of PC. Methods: A retrospective study was performed in 37 centres. Patients treated with biologics within 12 weeks before surgery were considered "exposed". The impact of the exposure on the risk of 30-day PC and the risk of infections was assessed by logistic regression and propensity score-matched analysis. Results: A total of 1535 surgeries were performed on 1370 patients. Of them, 711 surgeries were conducted in the exposed cohort (584 anti-TNF, 58 vedolizumab and 69 ustekinumab). In the multivariate analysis, male gender (OR: 1.5; 95% CI: 1.2-2.0), urgent surgery (OR: 1.6; 95% CI: 1.2-2.2), laparotomy approach (OR: 1.5; 95% CI: 1.1-1.9) and severe anaemia (OR: 1.8; 95% CI: 1.3-2.6) had higher risk of PC, while academic hospitals had significantly lower risk. Exposure to biologics (either anti-TNF, vedolizumab or ustekinumab) did not increase the risk of PC (OR: 1.2; 95% CI: 0.97-1.58), although it could be a risk factor for postoperative infections (OR 1.5; 95% CI: 1.03-2.27). Conclusions: Preoperative administration of biologics does not seem to be a risk factor for overall PC, although it may be so for postoperative infections
