    El objetivo de este estudio fue analizar los efectos de 5 semanas de entrenamiento de flexibilidad mediante el tipo de estiramiento stretching global activo (SGA) sobre la amplitud de movimiento en un grupo de estudiantes de educación secundaria. Un total de 21 alumnos pertenecientes a una clase de secundaria fueron aleatoriamente asignados a un grupo control (n=10) o experimental (n=11). La intervención consistió en 10 sesiones durante 5 semanas aplicando 20 minutos de ejercicios SGA de cierre coxofemoral. Para evaluar las mejoras en amplitud de movimiento se llevó a cabo una prueba de evaluación dedos-suelo y una medición del ángulo de flexión activa del hombro (hiperflexión bilateral sagital de hombro); antes (pre) y después (post) de la intervención. En el grupo control no se observaron diferencias significativas en la amplitud de movimiento del miembro inferior ni en el ángulo de hiperflexión del hombro. Sin embargo, los sujetos experimentales tuvieron mejoras significativas en ambas pruebas después de la intervención. No se observaron diferencias significativas entre grupos. Por tanto, parece ser que el método SGA genera mejoras a nivel de amplitud de movimiento en miembro superior e inferior y puede ser una propuesta innovadora, útil e interesante para aplicar durante la vuelta a la calma durante las clases de Educación Físic

    Exploring the ring-closing metathesis for the construction of the solomonamide macrocyclic core: identification of bioactive precursors

    New synthetic strategies directed toward the novel cyclopeptides solomonamides have been explored utilizing an olefin metathesis as the key reaction. In the various strategies investigated, we worked on minimally oxidized systems, and the olefin metathesis reaction demonstrated efficiency and validity for the construction of the macrocyclic core. The described synthetic strategies toward the solomonamides are well suited for the subsequent access to the natural products and represent flexible and diversityoriented routes that allow for the generation of a variety of analogues via oxidative transformations.     NH4F Modified Al-SBA-15 Materials for Esterification of Valeric Acid to Alkyl Valerates

    Al-SBA-15 materials were functionalized by ball milling with several niobium loadings (0.25–1 wt.%) and/or with several F- loadings, using NH4F as a precursor. The catalysts synthesized in this study were characterised by X-ray diffraction (XRD), N2 porosimetry, and diffuse reflection infrared spectroscopy (DRIFT) among others. The prepared materials shown, form moderate to high catalytic activities in the microwave-assisted transformation of valeric acid to ethyl valerate via esterification. The incorporation of fluoride anions either into Al-SBA-15 or on Nb1%/Al-SBA-15 led to a linear increase in valeric acid conversion with the F− content. Thus, F− modified mesoporous aluminosilicates efficiently catalyze the transformation of valeric acid into alkyl valerate esters as renewable fuels

    Gold Nanoparticles on Yttrium Modified Titania: Support Properties and Catalytic Activity

    A series of titanium oxide catalysts modified with yttrium has been prepared by sol¿gel method and their structural properties have been studied. The incorporation of yttrium in the titania lattice favors the formation of oxygen vacancies while at low Y loadings the anatase structure is preserved. The catalytic activity of these solids for CO oxidation is found to be significantly dependent on their physical properties. In particular the amount of dopant controls the number of surface oxygen vacancies created as well as the gold particle size, which directly affects the catalytic activity. Also, a linear relationship between the catalytic activity and the band gap values, which depend on the Y loading, is observed. Density functional theory based calculations show that Y atoms are incorporated at the TiO2 surface at substitutional positions only, while the preferred oxygen vacancies arise by removing the bridge surface oxygen atoms. These O-vacancies are the preferential adsorption sites for Au atoms and nanoparticles, acting as nucleation centers that favor the dispersion of the catalyst active phase over the support surface.     Prevalence of missed lesions in patients with inadequate bowel preparation through a very early repeat colonoscopy

We aimed to determine the rate of missed lesions in patients with inadequate BP through a very early repeat colonoscopy with adequate BP. Methods: Post hoc analysis was conducted using data collected from a prospective multicenter randomized clinical trial including patients with inadequate BP and then repeat colonoscopy. Inadequate BP was defined as the Boston Bowel Preparation Scale (BBPS) score <2 points in any segment. We included patients with any indication for colonoscopy. The adenoma detection rate (ADR), advanced ADR (AADR), and serrated polyp detection rate (SPDR) were calculated for index and repeat colonoscopies. Results: Of the 651 patients with inadequate BP from the original trial, 413 (63.4%) achieved adequate BP on repeat colonoscopy. The median interval between index and repeat colonoscopies was 28 days. On repeat colonoscopy, the ADR was 45.3% (95% confidence interval [CI] 40.5-50.1%), the AADR was 10.9% (95% CI 8.1-14.3%), and the SPDR was 14.3% (95% CI 10.9-17.7%). Cancer was discovered in four patients (1%; 95% CI 0.2-2.5%). A total of 60.2% of all advanced adenoma (AA) were discovered on repeat colonoscopy. A colon segment scored BBPS = 0 had most AA (66.1%) and all four cancers. Conclusion: Patients with inadequate BP present a high rate of AAs on repeat colonoscopy. When a colonoscopy has a colon segment score BBPS = 0, we recommend repeating the colonoscopy as soon as possible

    Assessment of integrated solutions for the combined energy efficiency improvement and seismic strengthening of existing URM buildings

    The European building stock is an aging infrastructure, mainly built prior to building codes. Furthermore, 65% of these buildings are located in seismic regions, which need to be both energetic and seismically retrofitted to comply with performance targets. Given this, this manuscript presents integrated constructive solutions that combine both energy efficiency improvement and seismic strengthening. The goal and novelty is to design and to evaluate one-shot, compatible, noninvasive, and complementary solutions applied to the façades of buildings with a minimum cost. To do so, different constraints have been borne in mind: the urban environment, achievable seismic and energy performance targets, and reduced construction costs. The method was applied to an old Spanish neighbourhood constructed in the 1960s. Different retrofitting packages were proposed for an unreinforced masonry case study building. A sensitivity analysis was performed to assess the effects of each configuration. A benefit/cost ratio was proposed to comparatively assess and to rank the solutions. The results of the seismoenergetic performance assessment showed that improving the behaviour of walls leads to higher benefit ratios than improving the openings. However, this latter strategy generates much lower construction costs. Integrating seismic into energetic retrofitting solutions supposes negligible additional costs but can improve the seismic behaviour of buildings by up to 240%. The optimal solution was the addition of higher ratios of steel grids and intermediate profiles in openings while adding thermal insulation in walls and renovating the window frames with PVC and standard 4/6/4 double glazing

    Abstract of the poster presented at "Current Trends in Electrochemistry", 41st Meeting of the Electrochemistry Group of the Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry and 1st French-Spanish Atelier/Workshop on Electrochemistry, Paris (July 6 - 9, 2021).Research on new catalyst materials for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) is the main goal for many research groups around the world, due to its application in fuel cells and metal/air batteries. ORR mainly occurs by two pathways, in alkaline media, the direct four-electron transfer pathway from O2 to OH- or in a two-steps mechanism, where hydrogen peroxide (HO2-) is formed in the first reaction. On fuel cells and metal air batteries applications, the catalyst must be optimized to get the oxygen reduced directly to water through the 4 electrons mechanism1. Due to high price of the precious metals, new materials are tested to be used as catalyst in ORR. Among them, researchers have focused their attention mainly on metal oxides, perovskites or carbonaceous materials. In this communication, we have studied four carbonaceous-based inks synthetized by ultrasonic or hydrothermal methods2, using a rotating ring-disk electrode (RRDE) (Figure 1.A). The production of HO2- (%HO2-), transferred electrons and others parameters will be analyzed and the results will be discussed in depth.     Comparative analysis between the Spanish and Portuguese seismic codes. Application to a border RC primary school

    The Iberian Peninsula is close to the Eurasia-Africa plate boundary resulting in a considerable seismic hazard. In fact, the southwestern Iberian Peninsula is affected by far away earthquakes of long-return period with large-very large magnitude. A project named PERSISTAH (Projetos de Escolas Resilientes aos SISmos no Território do Algarve e de Huelva, in Portuguese) aims to cooperatively assess the seismic vulnerability of primary schools located in the Algarve (Portugal) and Huelva (Spain). Primary schools have been selected due to the considerable amount of similar buildings and their seismic vulnerability. In Portugal, the Decreto Lei 235/83 (RSAEEP) is mandatory while in Spain, the mandatory code is the Seismic Building Code (NCSE-02). In both countries, the Eurocode-8 (EC-8) is recommended. Despite the fact that both regions would be equally affected by an earthquake, both seismic codes are significantly different. This research compares the seismic action of Ayamonte (Huelva) and Vila Real de Santo António (Portugal). Both towns are very close and located at both sides of the border. Moreover, they share the same geology. This analysis has been applied considering a RC primary school building located in Huelva. To do so, the performance-based method has been used. The seismic action and the damage levels are compared and analysed. The results have shown considerable differences in the seismic actions designation, in the performance point values and in the damage levels. The values considered in the Portuguese code are significantly more unfavourable.
