Objective: To analyze the difference of socioeconomic factors among mothers of preterm and full-term infants. Material and Methods: A cross-sectional retrospective study was developed with 250 mothers of children aged three to five years. The sample was divided into two groups: 125 mothers of preterm infants from the referral center of a public hospital in the city of Belo Horizonte, Brazil and 125 mothers of children born full-term at a daycare center within the same city. A pre-tested questionnaire was used to collect socioeconomic data and type of breastfeeding. To verify if there was association between the dependent variable gestational age at birth and the independent variables, the chi-square test was used. A final model with multiple Poisson regression estimated prevalence ratio values for each independent variable was developed. Results: The final multiple regression model showed that mothers that have a low monthly income of up to USD 450.28 (PR = 1.979, 95% CI = 1.082–3.620), used drugs, cigarettes, or alcohol during their pregnancy (PR = 4.095, 95% CI = 2.422–6.921), and did not breastfeed (PR = 2.294, 95% CI = 1.205– 4.369) were more likely to give birth to preterm infants. Conclusion: Low monthly family income, use of drugs, alcohol, or smoking during pregnancy and absence of breastfeeding were more frequent on mothers of preterm infants

Background: Advances in neuroimaging techniques have produced evidence about disrupted frontolimbic circuits related to emotional regulation. These neuroimaging studies may suggest impairments in cellular plasticity in bipolar disorder (BD) patients. However, the long-term use of mood stabilizers may restore these dysfunctions by neurotrophic effect

Ferreira, Ana Cristina, e outros (2023) - International conference on technology management and operations. - Lisboa : Universidade Lusíada Editora. - ISBN 978-898-640-273-0.Control charts are one of the most important tools used for process monitoring. Traditional control charts use crisp data, but in the real world the processes to be monitored have uncertainties, due to human subjectivity, measurement instruments among other factors. In this case Shewhart charts may not be adequate and fuzzy control charts should be used. In this paper X-R fuzzy control chart for triangular intuitionistic fuzzy numbers (TIFNs) using Intuitionistic Fuzzy - Weighted Averaging Based on Levels (IFWABL) defuzzification method is proposed. An interesting aspect in the defuzzification method that is considered, which differs from others, is the property of flexibility. The method is considered flexible because users can adjust the coefficients according to the problem being solved. Therefore, it is possible to obtain different defuzzification values for the same triangular intuitionistic fuzzy number. This is completely in accordance with the principles of fuzzy set theory. Intuitionistic fuzzy control charts are able to represent both uncertainty and hesitation present at various stages of the process. An illustrative example is developed in order to understand and show the use of the proposed control chart and finally the results are interpreted

Ferreira, Ana Cristina, e outros (2023) - International conference on technology management and operations. - Lisboa : Universidade Lusíada Editora. - ISBN 978-898-640-273-0.Statistical Process Control (SPC) is fundamental to largescale manufacturing defect detection, being control charts the primary tool that promotes quality improvement. The x-s control charts monitor the mean and standard deviation of a continuous quality characteristic that can be measured and are influenced by human subjectivity, as well as to several other sources of uncertainty. Fuzzy set theory has advantages, but there are situations that it is not sufficient to model uncertainties present in the process, requiring the application of type-2 fuzzy sets. This work proposes an interval type-2 fuzzy and control charts using triangular fuzzy numbers. The x-s control limits are obtained through mathematical equations considering the defuzzification method under study. An illustrative example is developed, in order to demonstrate the usefulness of the proposed control chart. The proposed control model is called the IT2TFN x-s control chart, that is, the traditional x-s control charts combined with type-2 interval triangular fuzzy numbers. The IT2TFN x-s control chart can stabilize data very uncertain or vague in the fuzzification process, it is more flexible as it adds more information regarding uncertainties and expert opinion, which improves the assertiveness of the process decisions compared to the traditional x-s control charts

Obesity is associated with development of the cardiorenal metabolic syndrome, which is a constellation of risk factors, such as insulin resistance, inflammatory response, dyslipidemia, and high blood pressure that predispose affected individuals to well-characterized medical conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular and kidney chronic disease. The study was designed to establish relationship between metabolic and inflammatory disorder, renal sodium retention and enhanced blood pressure in a group of obese subjects compared with age-matched, lean volunteers. The study was performed after 14 h overnight fast after and before OGTT in 13 lean (BMI 22.92 ± 2.03 kg/m(2)) and, 27 obese (BMI 36.15 ± 3.84 kg/m(2)) volunteers. Assessment of HOMA-IR and QUICKI index were calculated and circulating concentrations of TNF-α, IL-6 and C-reactive protein, measured by immunoassay. THE STUDY SHOWS THAT A HYPERINSULINEMIC (HI: 10.85 ± 4.09 μg/ml) subgroup of well-characterized metabolic syndrome bearers-obese subjects show higher glycemic and elevated blood pressure levels when compared to lean and normoinsulinemic (NI: 5.51 ± 1.18 μg/ml, P < 0.027) subjects. Here, the combination of hyperinsulinemia, higher HOMA-IR (HI: 2.19 ± 0.70 (n = 12) vs. LS: 0.83 ± 0.23 (n = 12) and NI: 0.98 ± 0.22 (n = 15), P < 0.0001) associated with lower QUICKI in HI obese when compared with LS and NI volunteers (P < 0.0001), suggests the occurrence of insulin resistance and a defect in insulin-stimulated peripheral action. Otherwise, the adiponectin measured in basal period was significantly enhanced in NI subjects when compared to HI groups (P < 0.04). The report also showed a similar insulin-mediated reduction of post-proximal urinary sodium excretion in lean (LS: 9.41 ± 0.68% vs. 6.38 ± 0.92%, P = 0.086), and normoinsulinemic (NI: 8.41 ± 0.72% vs. 5.66 ± 0.53%, P = 0.0025) and hyperinsulinemic obese subjects (HI: 8.82 ± 0.98% vs. 6.32 ± 0.67%, P = 0.0264), after oral glucose load, despite elevated insulinemic levels in hyperinsulinemic obeses. In conclusion, this study highlights the importance of adiponectin levels and dysfunctional inflammatory modulation associated with hyperinsulinemia and peripheral insulin resistance, high blood pressure, and renal dysfunction in a particular subgroup of obeses.112
