    Alternative Large Nc Schemes and Chiral Dynamics

    We compare the dependences on the number of colors of the leading pion pion scattering amplitudes using the single index quark field and two index quark fields. These are seen to have different relationships to the scattering amplitudes suggested by chiral dynamics which can explain the long puzzling pion pion s wave scattering up to about 1 GeV. This may be interesting for getting a better understanding of the large Nc approach as well as for application to recently proposed technicolor models.Comment: RevTex, two-columns, 6 page

    Seismogenesis and earthquake triggering during the 2010–2011 Rigan (Iran) earthquake sequence

    This study assesses the aftershock activity of two earthquakes that occurred on December 20, 2010 with magnitude of MN 6.5 (Global CMT Mw 6.5) and January 27, 2011 with magnitude of MN 6.0 (Global CMT Mw 6.2) in the Rigan region of southeastern Iran. This study has been done by assessing the statistical properties of the aftershock sequences associated with each of these earthquakes, namely b-value of Gutenberg–Richter relation, partitioning of radiated seismic energy, p -value of modified Omori law and the DC-value associated with the fractal dimension. The b-values of b = 0.89 ± 0.08 and b = 0.88 ± 0.08 were calculated for first main shock and second main shock sequence respectively. This suggests that this region is characterized by large differential stress; the genesis of large aftershock activity in a short time interval gives power this. Further, 2.2% of the whole energy is related with the aftershocks activity for first main shock sequence while 97.8% is associated with main shock; for second sequence, 20% of the total energy is associated with the aftershocks activity while 80% is associated with main shock. The p -values of 1.1 ± 0.12 and 1.1 ± 0.1 were calculated for first and second main shocks sequence respectively, which imply fast decay rate of aftershocks and high surface heat flux. A value of the spatial fractal dimension (Dc) equal to 2.34 ± 0.03 and 2.54 ± 0.02 for first and second main shocks sequence respectively, which reveals random spatial distribution and source in a two-dimensional plane that is being filled-up by fractures. Moreover, we then use the models to calculate the Coulomb stress change to appraise coming seismic hazard by inspecting the static Coulomb stress field due to these two main shocks for the recognition of the conceivable regions of aftershocks activity. The first main shock increased stress by more than 0.866 bars at the hypocenter of the second main shock, thus promoting the failure. In addition, the cumulative coseismic Coulomb stress changes due to the reveals that most of the aftershocks happened in the region of increased Coulomb stress

    Cystic echinococcosis (CE) is a widespread chronic endemic helminthic disease caused by infection with metacestodes of the tapeworm Echinococcus granulosus. CE affects humans and has a worldwide prevalence of approximately six million. In this review, we discuss current findings in diagnosis and clinical management of CE and new concepts relating to E. granulosus molecules that directly modulate the host immune responses favouring a strong anti-inflammatory response and perpetuating parasite survival in the host. New insights into the molecular biology of E. granulosus will improve considerably our knowledge of the disease and will provide new potential therapeutic applications to treat or prevent inflammatory immune-mediated disease

    Penelitian ini merupakan implementasi dari algoritma poligon aplikasi Node.js dalam bentuk add-on Mozilla Firefox (inetfilter). Algoritma Nude.js ditulis oleh Patriek Wied kemudian juga diuji dalam sebuah penelitian yang dilakukan oleh Rigan Ap-apid, dalam studinya mengatakan bahwa algoritma ini memiliki kinerja yang lebih baik daripada SVM, WIPE, Jones-Rehg, Fleck- Forsyth dalam hal deteksi gambar-gambar porno. Penelitian yang dilakukan oleh Rigan Ap-apid menggunakan data pelatihan dan pengujian yang telah dikumpulkan dengan jumlah 421 dan 635 gambar porno bukan gambar porno dengan ukuran gambar tidak disebutkan. Penelitian ini akan menggunakan data yang lebih nyata dalam bahwa data langsung dari pencarian menggunakan mesin pencari. Studi ini menambahkan fungsi multi-deteksi pada nude.js perpustakaan kemudian diimplementasikan dalam bentuk add-on Mozilla Firefox. Pengujian dilakukan dengan menggunakan browser Firefox add on inetfiter sudah terpasang. Pengujian dilakukan dengan menggunakan 14 kata kunci dalam pencarian menggunakan mesin pencari google pada gambar, halaman depan dua situs porno terkenal, dan satu halaman dengan 40 gambar. Rincian jumlah gambar adalah 4733 pornografi gambar seperti: Miyabi, Maria Ozawa, Nude, Naked, dll, 894 gambar dengan dua kata kunci bertema non-porno seperti: sapi, wajah, dll, 95 gambar dari halaman dua situs porno terkenal, dan 40 gambar dari halaman yang dibuat oleh peneliti sendiri. Jumlah gambar yang diuji adalah 5762 gambar dengan 4010 gambar gambar porno diprediksi. Total gambar terdeteksi gambar porno adalah 3276. Demikian hasil tes menyimpulkan bahwa menambahkan pada inetfilter mampu mendeteksi 81,70% dengan error deteksi gambar porno dari 13,72%

    Interpretation of the OGLE Q2237+0305 microlensing light-curve

    The four bright images of the gravitationally lensed quasar Q2237+0305 are being monitored from the ground (eg. OGLE collaboration, Apache Point Observatory) in the hope of observing a high magnification event (HME). Over the past three seasons (1997-1999) the OGLE collaboration has produced microlensing light-curves with unprecedented coverage. These demonstrate smooth, independent (therefore microlensing) variability between the images (Wozniak et al. 2000a,b; OGLE web page). We have retrospectively compared probability functions for high-magnification event parameters with several observed light-curve features. We conclude that the 1999 image C peak was due to the source having passed outside of a cusp rather than to a caustic crossing. In addition, we find that the image C light-curve shows evidence for a caustic crossing between the 1997 and 1998 observing seasons involving the appearance of new critical images. Our models predict that the next image C event is most likely to arrive 500 days following the 1999 peak, but with a large uncertainty (100-2000 days). Finally, given the image A light-curve derivative at the end of the 1999 observing season, our modelling suggests that a caustic crossing will occur between the 1999 and 2000 observing seasons, implying a minimum for the image A light-curve ~1-1.5 magnitudes fainter than the November 1999 level.Comment: 11 pages, 15 figures.
