The method would allow to extract the individual fractions of tLt¯ L, tRt¯ R, tLt¯ R and tRt¯ L pairs with a fit to data, where L, R refer to the polarisation along any axis. These polarisation fractions have not been independently measured at present. Secondarily, the method also provides the net polarisation of t and t¯ , as well as their spin correlation for arbitrary axes.IFT Centro de Excelencia Severo Ochoa PID2019-110058GB-C21, PID2019-110058GB-C22, SEV-2016-0597PSC-CUNY 63096-00 51, 64031-00 52Spanish Research AgencyFamily Process Institute BES-2016-076775Ministerio de Ciencia e InnovaciónEuropean Regional Development Fund CERN/FIS-PAR/0004/2019, CERN/FIS-PAR/0029/2019Fundació Catalana de TrasplantamentAgencia Estatal de Investigació

In this activity MIMO HSDPA is evaluated as the UMTS evolution that could allow a combination of high bit rate services, coverage and mobility with a good trade-off between cost and performance. This evaluation requires the definition of an objective framework for comparison between competing air interface technologies for Systems beyond 3G, and should be carried out in cooperation with other IST projects. The deliverable is complemented by analytically assessing channel capacity in flat Rician- and Rayleigh fading when ideal proportional fast scheduling, optimal rate adaptation, and various transmit diversity techniques are used.Preprin

Experimental measurements were carried out in order to find the specific fuel consumption under those operating conditions, in such a way that the global energy efficiency was obtained for a bus provided with natural gas engine. When the slope was changed from 0 to 7%, the efficiency varied from 25.4 to 27.6%; while the velocity change from 15 to 40 km/h, produced a change of 25.9 to 27.1% in energy efficiency. Both, velocity and slope produced an increase in energy efficiency when moved from low to high values. The slope has higher effect on efficiency than velocity

On the system performance of DFT-S-OFDM and CP-OFDM for 5G Uplink in mmWave band

Both conventional Cyclic Prefix Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (CP-OFDM) and Discrete Fourier Transform Spread OFDM (DFT-S-OFDM) have been adopted for their use in the Physical Uplink Shared Channel (PUSCH) in the 5G New Radio (NR) standard. While CP-OFDM can better exploit the frequency characteristics of the channel, DFTS-OFDM has the advantage of a lower peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). Due to the interactions between PAPR and power amplifier (PA) non-linearity, users adopting DFT-S-OFDM waveform may benefit from a potentially higher PA efficiency and extend their coverage by increasing their transmit power. In this paper we study the uplink performance of both waveforms and their interaction with non-linear PA and uplink power control in the millimeter-wave (mmWave) band to determine their optimal operational range

    Grammatical inference with bioinformatics criteria

    Get PDF
In this paper we describe both the theoretical and practical results of a novel approach that combines hybrid techniques of association analysis and classical sequentiation algorithms of genomics to generate the grammatical structures of a specific language. We used an application of a compiler generator system that allows a practical application to be developed within the area of grammarware, where the concepts of language analysis are applied to other disciplines, such as bioinformatics. The tool allows the complexity of the obtained grammar to be measured automatically from textual data. A technique involving the incremental discovery of sequential patterns is presented to obtain simplified production rules, and compacted with bioinformatics criteria to make up a grammar

This work aimed to evaluate the effects of protein and copper supplementation in dairy goats naturally infected with gastrointestinal nematodes (GIN) in Valle de Lerma, province of Salta, Argentina. Three groups of 10 animals each were tested: GSP (group supplemented with 19% protein and copper administered subcutaneously at a rate of 0.5 ml per 20 kg of weight at the beginning of the trial), GSPD (group supplemented with protein and copper as GSP and dewormed monthly with Derquantel + Abamectin), and CG (control group, without supplementation or deworming). The animals were monitored every 15 days from the beginning of March 2021 until kidding, at the end of July 2021. The animals were clinically examined and Famacha and body condition were determined. In ad dition, hematocrit and serum protein were detected and coprological analyses were performed to confirm EPG and nematode prevalence. After kidding, daily milk production of each animal was measured up to 90 days of lactation. The prevalent GIN genera were Haemonchus and Trichostrongylus. At parturition, CG differed significantly in the average GIN egg count from GSP and GSPD, with 4035 (±4873.8) for CG, 1225 (±1173.5) for GSP and 983 (±1854.8) for the GSPD. Regarding physiological parameters, the hematocrit was 27.7% (±4.4) in CG, 31.7% (±5.1) in GSP, and 32% (±3.5) in GSPD; total serum proteins were 4 g/dl (±0.62) in CG, 5.8 g/dl (±0.69) in GSP and 6.2 g/dl (±0.61) in GSPD. Milk production in the treated groups (GSPD: 167.7l ± 18.2 l; GSP: 153.3 ± 18.2 l ) was higher than in CG (85.7 ± 19.2 l). Protein supplementation had a positive effect on parasitological, physiological, and productive parame ters. Under the conditions of this trial, it would be advisable to supplement the animals 45 days before kidding to enhance GIN control and milk production. Colistin has become the last-line antimicrobial for the treatment of multidrug resistant (MDR) Enterobacterales in human medicine. To date, several colistin resistance genes have been described. Of them mcr-1 is disseminated worldwide in Escherichia coli of human and animal origin. The aim of this study was to characterize mcr-mediated resistance plasmids from E. coli of animal origin in Spain. From our strain collection, 70 E. coli of pig origin collected between 2005 and 2014 (10 per year, except for years 2009-2010-2013) were randomly selected and screened for the presence of mcr-genes. Additionally, 20 E. coli isolated in 2011 from white storks (Ciconia ciconia) from the same urban household waste landfill associated colony were also included. Whole genome sequencing of mcr-positive isolates was carried out on a MiSeq (Illumina). Hybrid whole genome sequencing strategy combining nanopore and Illumina technologies were performed in a selection of isolates to close the genomes and plasmids and identify the presence of antimicrobial resistance genes. Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) was used to assess the susceptibility to colistin. Mating experiments were carried out to evaluate transferability of the mcr-genes. A total of 19 mcr-1 and one mcr-4 positive isolates were detected, 15 from pigs distributed during the study period, and five from storks collected in 2011. No other mcr-variants were found. The MICs for colistin ranged between 4 and >4 mg/L. High diversity of STs were detected among the mcr-1 positive E. coli isolates, with only ST-10 shared between pigs and white storks. Except for one isolate, all were genotypic and phenotypically MDR, and five of them also harbored cephalosporin resistance genes (bla CTX-M- 14, bla SHV- 12, and three bla CMY- 2). mcr-1 genes were mobilizable by conjugation, associated with IncX4, IncHI2, and IncI2 plasmids. In our study, mcr-1 genes have been circulating in pig farms since 2005 harbored by a variety of E. coli clones. Its persistence may be driven by co-selection since plasmids containing mcr-1 also exhibit resistance to multiple drugs used in veterinary medicine. Furthermore, this is the first report of the presence of mcr-1 gene in isolates from white storks in Spain. This finding highlights the potential importance of wildlife that forage at urban household waste landfills in the transmission and spread of colistin resistance genes.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

The percentage of bursty traffic in the network is currently increasing. To avoid problems derived from this, such as occasional overloads in the network or inefficiency in the allocation of resources, the role of the scheduler is essential and differentiating for the best possible performance of the network. To analyze this situation, a system level simulator has been used with a bursty traffic model with on-off states and Proportional Fair Minimum Rate scheduler. Bursty traffic has been tested with different activity factors and the scheduler has been configured with different scheduling strategies to achieve different degrees of fairness and to observe the impact on the results.Universidad de Málaga.
