Market access and the concentration of economic activity in a system of declining cities

While the positive effect of market access (MA) on population and economic growth has shown to be robust, the results in the literature were obtained in a context of population growth. This article examines the impact that MA has on a system of cities that has suffered a negative population shock. An extended version of the Brezis and Krugman (1997) model of life cycle of cities predicts that a system of cities experiencing population loss will see a relative reorganization of its population from small to larger cities, increasing population concentration. Accordingly, cities with higher MA will lose relatively more. We confirm these predictions using multiple definitions of MA with a comprehensive sample of cities in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, a region with declining population growth since 1990

Design of a training plan in a virtual learning environment about the pedagogical practices in teaching English, according to the 'currículo sugerido' and the conceptions of primary school teachers

ilustraciones, gráficos, tablasLa presente investigación buscó diseñar un plan de capacitación en un ambiente virtual de aprendizaje sobre las prácticas pedagógicas en la enseñanza del inglés según el currículo sugerido y a su vez conocer las concepciones de los profesores frente a ellas. Esta se desarrolló en dos Instituciones Educativas de básica primaria pertenecientes a municipios no certificados del Valle del Cauca. En ese sentido, mediante un diseño de investigación con enfoque cualitativo, tipo descriptivo, bajo el marco de un paradigma de investigación educativa y tomando como muestra 4 docentes de las Instituciones Educativas Escuela Normal Superior de Guacarí y Manuel María Mallarino de Trujillo, se cumplieron los objetivos específicos de investigación. Fue así, que, a partir del análisis de los componentes del currículo sugerido y las concepciones de los profesores frente a la enseñanza del inglés en la básica primaria, se logró identificar las categorías requeridas para la construcción del Ambiente Virtual de Aprendizaje, permitiendo la apropiación de las orientaciones y principios pedagógicos propuestos desde el currículo sugerido hacia los docentes de básica del país de una manera más simplificada, atractiva y dinámica. In this sense, through a research design with a qualitative approach, descriptive, under the framework of an educational research paradigm and taking as a sample 4 teachers from the educational institutions Escuela Normal Superior de Guacarí and Manuel María Mallarino de Trujillo, the specific research objectives were achieved. It was thus, that, from the analysis of the components of the suggested curriculum and the conceptions of the teachers according to the teaching of English in the primary school and in this way, to identify the categories required for the Virtual Learning Environment, facilitating the appropriation of the orientations and pedagogical principles proposed from the suggested curriculum towards the teachers of primary school of the country, thus contributing to the strengthening and improvement of the processes of teaching English in the basic primary

El presente artículo estudia la forma en que la novela, En diciembre llegaban las brisas, de Marvel Moreno, presenta la configuración de la subjetividad femenina como una lucha entre la heteronomía y la autonomía, en la cual el aparato escolar asume un rol fundamental en la adaptación de las mujeres a la sociedad patriarcal, mientras en algunos casos la familia provee un esquema de valores alternativo posibilitando formas de resistencia al status quo. Más allá de lo literario, esta reflexión parte de una inquietud acerca de la función de las instituciones educativas en la sociedad y espera contribuir de alguna manera a ese debate.The present article studies the way in which the novel, En diciembre llegaban las brisas, by Marvel Moreno, presents the configuration of female subjectivity as a struggle between heteronomy and autonomy, in which the school apparatus assumes a fundamental role in the adaptation of women to patriarchal society, while in some cases the family provides an alternative value scheme enabling forms of resistance to the status quo. En el trabajo de grado “Poulenc y la poesía” se realiza el análisis de los poemas “Ser” de Paul Eluard, “Solo deseo amarte” de Guillaume Apollinaire, y la “Sonata para flauta y plano FP.164” compuesta por Francis Poulenc. Cada análisis es antecedido por la contextualización de los tres autores y las obras. Estudio sobre iluminación natural en lugares con poco acceso de luz

El estudio de las distintas teorías de la óptica, sus fenómenos y métodos utilizados a lo largo de la historia han tenido una gran repercusión en lo que a sistemas de iluminación se refiere. La óptica como la rama de la física que estudia el comportamiento de la luz, sus características y sus manifestaciones en diferentes ambientes, establece los conceptos trascendentales que son aplicados a sistemas aprovechables por la humanidad. This hints at the possibility that other properties of these intriguing particles might substantially deviate from the predictions of the SM, and is presently motivating vigorous efforts, on both theoretical and experimental sides, to understand in more depth the detailed properties of neutrinos and of their interactions. In particular, the electromagnetic properties of the neutrinos can play important roles in a wide variety of domains such as cosmology and astrophysics and can also provide a viable explanation for the observed depletion of the electron neutrino flux from the Sun.
