Pilot study on violence in children’s animated drawings and their relationship with emotional intelligence
Cartoons violence exposure can be negative for toddlers, because children behavior
can be modelled by them. Early exposure has been related to emotional disturbance. In this study
twelve cartoon series were watched in order to explore the number and typology of violent actions.
Emotional intelligence of children who watched this series was assessed. Results show that more than half of series contains some type of violent action, principally physical. Almost half of violent
actions occurs outside school environment, are executed by non significant adults, and both boys
and girls exercise and receive violence in similar proportions. There are negative and significant
correlations between violence level and emotional intelligence, and there are emotional intelligence
differences depending on favorite cartoon country origin. Results and its implications for toddlers
are discussed.peerReviewe

Effectiveness of medical nutrition therapy in adolescents with type 1 diabetes: a systematic review
BACKGROUND: Medical nutrition therapy (MNT) has an integral role in overall diabetes management. During adolescence,
consideration of physiological and psychosocial changes is essential for implementing an optimal diabetes treatment.
OBJECTIVES: Our aim was to identify, summarize, and interpret the published literature about MNT in adolescents with type 1
diabetes.
METHODS: The Medline (PubMed) and EMBASE databases were searched from January 1959 to December 2021. The inclusion
criteria were interventional studies with MNT in adolescents with type 1 diabetes with a disease duration over 1 year, including the
following outcomes: dietary intake and daily eating patterns (assessed with validated tools, two or more 24 h dietary recall or 3-day
dietary records), the diabetes self-management education and support (DSMES), glycemic control, lipid profile and body mass index
(BMI). The exclusion criteria were studies without a control group (except for pre-post studies), the lack of randomization and those
studies that assessed only a single nutrient, food or meal consumption, as well as reviews, and in-vitro/in-vivo studies. The risk of
bias assessment was performed using the Cochrane risk-of-bias tool for randomized trials. A narrative synthesis was performed to
present the results. The quality of evidence was assessed with the GRADE guidance.
RESULTS: From a total of 5377 records, 12 intervention studies (9 RCT and 3 pre-post intervention studies) were included. The data
were assessed in order to perform a meta-analysis; however, the studies were too heterogeneous. The studies showed conflicting
results about the effectiveness of MNT on dietary pattern, DSMES, glycemic control, lipid profile and BMI.
CONCLUSIONS: Clinical research studies on the effectiveness of MNT in adolescents with type 1 diabetes are scarce. The limited
number of studies with a high risk of bias precludes establishing robust conclusions on this issue. Further research is warranted

CO2 capture by adsorption with nitrogen enriched carbons
9 pages, 7 figures, 3 tables.-- Printed version published Sep 2007.-- Issue title: The 6th European Conference on Coal Research and its Applications. The success of CO2 capture with solid sorbents is dependent on the development of a low cost sorbent with high CO2 selectivity and adsorption capacity. Immobilised amines are expected to offer the benefits of liquid amines in the typical absorption process, with the added advantages that solids are easy to handle and that they do not give rise to corrosion problems. In this work, different alkylamines were evaluated as a potential source of basic sites for CO2 capture, and a commercial activated carbon was used as a preliminary support in order to study the effect of the impregnation. The amine coating increased the basicity and nitrogen content of the carbon. However, it drastically reduced the microporous volume of the activated carbon, which is chiefly responsible for CO2 physisorption, thus decreasing the capacity of raw carbon at room temperature. This work was carried out with financial support from the Spanish MEC (Project CTM2005-03075/TECNO). Cardiac Hepatopathy
Liver disease resulting from heart disease has generally been referred as “cardiac hepatopathy.” The two main forms of cardiac hepatopathy are acute cardiogenic liver injury (ACLI) and congestive hepatopathy (CH). ACLI most commonly occurs in the setting of acute cardiocirculatory failure, whereas CH results from passive venous congestion in the setting of chronic right-sided heart failure (HF). Both conditions often coexist and potentiate the deleterious effects of each other on the liver. In CH, the chronic passive congestion leads to sinusoidal hypertension, centrilobular fibrosis, and ultimately, cirrhosis (“cardiac cirrhosis”) and hepatocellular carcinoma. The differentiation between congestion and fibrosis currently represents an unmet need and a growing research area. Although cardiac cirrhosis may only arise after several decades of ongoing injury, the long-term survival of cardiac patients due to advances in medical and surgical treatments is responsible for the increased number of liver complications in this setting. Eventually, the liver disease could become as clinically relevant as the cardiac disease and further complicate its management
