Free PMC Article: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4574381/We report a 63,584-bp conjugative IncL plasmid (pUR17313-1) from an Enterobacter cloacae clinical isolate, containing a blaOXA-48 gene. The plasmid sequence also carried important mobile genetic elements involved in the spread of antibiotic resistance, namely, the Tn1999.2 composite transposon, which enclosed blaOXA-48-, integrase-, and transposase-encoding genes.V.M. was supported by grant number SFRH/BPD/77486/2011 from Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, Lisbon, Portugal. Professionals discuss accompanying mothers' participation during painful procedures as a possibility of care to mother and child, but there is no consensus on this subject. To contribute to this topic, this study addresses the child's needs during venipuncture in a hospital environment and the mother's participation in this procedure, based on authors from psychoanalysis and mother-child bonding.

The Lusoponte Concession : case study : net present value of government transfers and risk allocation analysis

Purpose: The aim of this paper is to present a case-study on the Lusoponte Concession providing an analysis of the evolution of risk allocation and Net Present Value of Government Transfers. Since the 90’s, Portugal has been experiencing an increase in the number of PPP contracts. Road concessions compose a large percentage of this number and the Lusoponte Concession among them, has been a source of concern by the government. Successive Financial Rebalance Agreements, calculation of direct compensations, use of the Base Case, Imbalance in negotiating positions and evolution of the risk allocation are some of the reasons for a further analysis of this concession. Methodology: This paper is structured in two major categories: 1. description of the concession contract and the Finance Rebalance Agreements and 2. analysis of the NPV of Government Transfers and Evolution of Risk Allocation. Findings: This paper concludes that due to the first alterations to the initial contract (increase in toll fares and non-payment of toll fares in August) there is a strong imbalance in the current risk allocation in the Lusoponte Concession and that the government is currently the largest contributor to the financing of the project through the Direct and Indirect compensations it granted to Lusoponte. Limitations: The conclusions of this paper are based on Reports by Tribunal de Contas that lack data and explanations that would enrich the analysis of risk allocation and NPV of government transfers. The extinction of the GATTEL is also a lost source of information regarding the Lusoponte Concession. Originality/Value: This paper contains a further analysis of the risk allocation of the most recent FRA (FRA VI – 2008) and a detailed explanation of the Lusoponte Case, namely the Financial Rebalance Agreements. It also provides a comparison of the NPV of government transfers to the initial funding of the construction of Ponte Casco da Gama which provides original conclusions on the governments’ role in this concession

Child Engagement in Inclusive Preschools: Contributions of Classroom Quality and Activity Setting

    Get PDF
Preschool process quality and activity setting are considered important aspects influencing child engagement. As such, it is important to understand how educational settings can promote engagement, particularly for children with disabilities and/or at risk. This observational study describes process quality and activity setting in inclusive preschools, analyzing its predictive role for child engagement. Participants were 184 children attending 39 preschools. Three groups of children, nested within classrooms, were considered: with disabilities (n = 45), at risk (n = 59), typically developing (n = 80). Child Observation in Preschool assessed engagement and activity setting; Classroom Assessment Scoring System assessed quality of teacher–child interactions. Research Findings: Results from multilevel regressions show that classroom emotional support and organization and more time in free play were positively predicting child engagement, whereas more time in whole group was a negative predictor of engagement. Besides these main effects, an interaction effect between child developmental functioning and activity settings was found. For at-risk children, more time in whole-group activities had greater negative effects on child engagement. For children with disabilities, more time in free-play had greater positive effects on child engagement. Practice or Policy: Results contribute to inform teachers regarding the importance of individualizing interactions and planning activity settings to promote engagement and participation in inclusive preschools.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Corporate effective tax rate: brief literature review

    Get PDF
Given the model of partial dependence between accounting and taxation, the nominal tax rate tells nothing about the tax burden borne by companies`. Therefore, the effective tax rate is, an indicator to be considered by stakeholders when making decisions once it represents the tax burden that the company bears during the period. This paper aims to present a brief literature review on the effective corporate tax rate, emphasizing its determinants, namely the size, the leverage, the capital intensity, the stock intensity, and the return on assets. With this paper, there was detected evidence of a significant relationship between the effective tax rate and the determinants analysed.publishe

The mediating role of pain catastrophizing in the relationship between presurgical anxiety and acute postsurgical pain after hysterectomy

The aim of this study was to examine the joint role of demographic, clinical, and psychological variables 30 as predictors of acute postsurgical pain in women undergoing hysterectomy due to benign disorders. A 31 consecutive sample of 203 women was assessed 24 hours before (T1) and 48 hours after (T2) surgery. 32 Baseline pain and predictors were assessed at T1 and postsurgical pain and analgesic consumption at 33 T2. Several factors distinguished women who had no or mild pain after surgery from those who had mod- 34 erate to severe pain, with the latter being younger, having more presurgical pain, and showing a less 35 favorable psychological profile. Younger age (odds ratio [OR] = 0.90, P < .001), presurgical pain 36 (OR = 2.50, P <.05), pain due to other causes (OR = 4.39, P = .001), and pain catastrophizing (OR = 3.37, 37 P = .001) emerged as the main predictors of pain severity at T2 in multivariate logistic regression. This 38 was confirmed in hierarchical linear regression (b = 0.187, P < .05; b = 0.146, P < .05; b = 0.136, P < .05; 39 b = 0.245, P < .01, respectively). Presurgical anxiety also predicted pain intensity at T2. Findings revealed 40 an integrative heuristic model that accounts for the joint influence of demographic, clinical, and psycho- 41 logical factors on postsurgical pain intensity and severity. In further mediation analysis, pain catastro- 42 phizing emerged as a full mediator between presurgical anxiety and postsurgical pain intensity. The 43 potential clinical implications for understanding, evaluating, and intervening in postsurgical pain are 44 discussed.Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT)The authors gratefully acknowledge the contributions of Falko Sniehotta, PhD, and Justin Presseau, PhD, for suggestions.
