In the last years, bullying has become a media issue. But its approach is often superficial. One of the mean reasons why this phenomenon happens in educational institutions is hompohobia, which is rooted in misconceptions about sexual diversity. Homophobic bullying is a collective problema and in some cases, invisible, where abusers repressed the basic rights of the victim as free expression and the right to confront their sexuality in the best way posible. Fiction films, as a space of cultural representation fiction cinema as a space of cultural representation and social reflection, becomes as relevant to address social problems from a deeper point of view means. That is why we decided to take this issue as the focus of our research, for which it aims to develop a short fiction film called " After the Silence?. A story about what can trigger the practice of bullying on the life of a teenager. Keywords: Bullying, Homophobia, Sexual diversity, film, audiovisual, media, communication, fiction

BACKGROUND: Thirty to forty percent of patients with Diffuse Large B-cell Lymphoma (DLBCL) have an adverse clinical evolution. The increased understanding of DLBCL biology has shed light on the clinical evolution of this pathology, leading to the discovery of prognostic factors based on gene expression data, genomic rearrangements and mutational subgroups. Nevertheless, additional efforts are needed in order to enable survival predictions at the patient level. In this study we investigated new machine learning-based models of survival using transcriptomic and clinical data. METHODS: Gene expression profiling (GEP) of in 2 different publicly available retrospective DLBCL cohorts were analyzed. Cox regression and unsupervised clustering were performed in order to identify probes associated with overall survival on the largest cohort. Random forests were created to model survival using combinations of GEP data, COO classification and clinical information. Cross-validation was used to compare model results in the training set, and Harrel's concordance index (c-index) was used to assess model's predictability. Results were validated in an independent test set. RESULTS: Two hundred thirty-three and sixty-four patients were included in the training and test set, respectively. Initially we derived and validated a 4-gene expression clusterization that was independently associated with lower survival in 20% of patients. This pattern included the following genes: TNFRSF9, BIRC3, BCL2L1 and G3BP2. Thereafter, we applied machine-learning models to predict survival. A set of 102 genes was highly predictive of disease outcome, outperforming available clinical information and COO classification. The final best model integrated clinical information, COO classification, 4-gene-based clusterization and the expression levels of 50 individual genes (training set c-index, 0.8404, test set c-index, 0.7942). CONCLUSION: Our results indicate that DLBCL survival models based on the application of machine learning algorithms to gene expression and clinical data can largely outperform other important prognostic variables such as disease stage and COO. Head-to-head comparisons with other risk stratification models are needed to compare its usefulness

This research study identifies those factors which influence the consumption of care products in the Latinamerican male segment. That's why, an instrument based on the behavorial theory was applied to 600 men living in two countries of this regi?n and having different levels of development regarding the above mentioned category, Mexico -highly developed- and Peru -moderately developed-. The data obtained were analyzed using a model of structural equations. The results show that a subjective norm will stop men's consumption of these kinds of products. Similarly, the impact of this subjective norm will be lower in young men, allowing them to have a great aperture in the consumption of these care products.

Aims: To analyse usability-related articles published in the period 1971-2005 from a bibliometric point of view. Methods: A search for articles was made in the CSIC databases, the Social Science Citation Index, Science Citation Index, PsycInfo, MEDLINE and Inspec databases, using ad hoc search strategies designed for each. Contribution, specific contribution and overlap indices were calculated, as were the indicators of change in scientific production, the productivity of institutions and journals, and the distribution of journals by area of knowledge. Results: An exponential increase in the number of published articles was recorded, with the highest increase seen over the last fi ve years. The most productive institutions were mostly US universities; the most productive journals were related to Computer Science, Engineering and Psychology. Conclusions: Currently there is controversy surrounding the idea of usability as a science or scientific discipline since it lacks an appropriate training curriculum, has no set professional profile, and it is unsure into what specific area of knowledge it falls.Bolaños Pizarro, Máxima, [email protected] ; Vidal Infer, Antonio, [email protected] ; Navarro Molina, Carolina, [email protected] ; Valderrama Zurian, Juan, [email protected] ; Gonzalez Alcaide, Gregorio, [email protected] ; Aleixandre Benavent, Rafael, [email protected]

Background: Cyclophilins (Cyps) are a family of peptidyl-prolyl cis/trans isomerases consistently involved in cardiovascular diseases through the inflammation pathway. This study aims to investigate the serum levels of Cyps (CypA, CypB, CypC and CypD) in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) and the correlation with clinical characteristics and inflammation parameters. Methods: We developed an observational prospective study with a total of 125 subjects: 40 patients with acute CAD, 40 patients with chronic CAD and 45 control volunteers, in whom serum levels of Cyps (CypA, CypB, CypC and CypD), interleukins and metalloproteinases were measured. Results: CypA levels increased significantly in CAD patients compared with control subjects, but no differences were noted between acute CAD (7.80 +/- 1.30 ng/mL) and chronic CAD (5.52 +/- 0.76 ng/mL) patients (P = 0.13). No differences in CypB and CypD levels were showed between CAD patients and controls and between acute CAD and chronic CAD patients. In relation with CypC, the levels in CAD patients were significantly higher compared to controls (32.42 +/- 3.71 pg/mL vs. 9.38 +/- 1.51 pg/mL, P 17.5 pg/mL cut-off point, and it was significantly associated with older age, hypertension, dyslipidemia and more extensive CAD in acute and chronic CAD groups. Conclusions: CypA and CypC levels are increased in CAD patients. High CypC serum levels could be a novel biomarker in CAD patients correlating with a more severe disease

Introduction: Minimally invasive surgery (MIS) in the surgical management of esophageal cancer is now accepted as a valid technique. The aim of this study is to show our initial experience with this approach.Material and Methods: Observational study using data collected prospectively from a database, which includes 23 patients operated by MIS. Esophageal dissection was performed by videothoracoscopy, followed by laparotomy or laparoscopy. An Akiyama gastroplasty was made up, and pulled up through the posterior mediastinum and an side-to-side esophagogastric cervical anastomosis was then performed. Results: Most of the patients (19) were male and the average age was 63.3 years. Most tumors were located underneath the carina. 17 were adenocarcinomas and 6 squamous cell type. 19 patients received neoadjuvant therapy. The average operating time was 377.5 minutes and in 5 patients it was necessary to make a thoracotomy to finish the esophageal dissection. An average of 18 lymph node were removed and the most frequent pathological stage was the IIA. The morbidity was 47.8%, 5 patients with respiratory complications and 7 patients presenting a anastomosis leakage or fistula. 3 patients died postoperatively. The average follow-up was 23.5 months and the estimated 5-year overall survival was 61.8%.Conclusion:This study confirms previous reports about MIS which seems to be a valid technique if made by experienced teams. Our results support a satisfactory oncological outcome and a low rate of respiratory complications
