The effect of entrepreneurship education on nascent entrepreneurship

The literature has been enriched by studies examining the effect of entrepreneurship education on entrepreneurial or goal intention. Yet, few articles have considered how entrepreneurship education affects nascent entrepreneurship as a more sought-after outcome. Similarly, some scholars assess entrepreneurship education as an aggregate rather than a multidimensional construct comprised of alternative methods with peculiar characteristics yielding distinct student outcomes. Possibly, the present shortage of specificity in the investigation of methods in entrepreneurship education reduces empirical understanding of efficacious teaching and learning modes for optimising entrepreneurial behaviour. Hence, by way of contribution, this inquiry isolates and measures the direct effect of courses, workshops, guest speakers and simulations on new venture creation among UK students. It also measures indirect influence in the same relationships, with self-efficacy as a mediator. A structural equation analysis is performed and the findings show that discretely, in this order, simulations, workshops and courses stimulate nascent entrepreneurship. However, there is particular insignificance in the direct link between guest speakers and nascent entrepreneurship, and further dissociation in the indirect link between workshops and simulations leading to self-efficacy. Theoretical implications arise for future correlation and configurational studies, as well as practical ramifications for entrepreneurship education practitioners, simulation developers and public institutions

Properties of LiMnBO3 glasses and nanostructured glass-ceramics

Polycrystalline LiMnBO3 is a promising cathode material for Li-ion batteries. In this work, we investigated the thermal, structural and electrical properties of glassy and nanocrystallized materials having the same chemical composition. The original glass was obtained via a standard meltquenching method. SEM and 7Li solid-state NMR indicate that it contains a mixture of two distinct glassy phases. The results suggest that the electrical conductivity of the glass is dominated by the ionic one. The dc conductivity of initial glass was estimated to be in the order of 10-18 S.cm-1 at room temperature. The thermal nanocrystallization of the glass produces a nanostructured glass-ceramics containing MnBO3 and LiMnBO3 phases. The electric conductivity of this glass-ceramics is increased by 6 orders of magnitude, compared to the starting material at room temperature. Compared to other manganese and borate containing glasses reported in the literature, the conductivity of the nanostructured glass ceramics is higher than that of the previously reported glassy materials. Such improved conductivity stems from the facilitated electronic transport along the grain boundaries

Neurocranial osteology and neuroanatomy of a late Cretaceous Titanosaurian Sauropod from Spain (Ampelosaurus sp.)

Titanosaurians were a flourishing group of sauropod dinosaurs during Cretaceous times. Fossils of titanosaurians have been found on all continents and their remains are abundant in a number of Late Cretaceous sites. Nonetheless, the cranial anatomy of titanosaurians is still very poorly known. The Spanish latest Cretaceous locality of "Lo Hueco" yielded a relatively well preserved, titanosaurian braincase, which shares a number of phylogenetically restricted characters with Ampelosaurus atacis from France such as a flat occipital region. However, it appears to differ from A. atacis in some traits such as the greater degree of dorsoventral compression and the presence of proatlas facets. The specimen is, therefore, provisionally identified as Ampelosaurus sp. It was CT scanned, and 3D renderings of the cranial endocast and inner-ear system were generated. Our investigation highlights that, although titanosaurs were derived sauropods with a successful evolutionary history, they present a remarkably modest level of paleoneurological organization. Compared with the condition in the basal titanosauriform Giraffatitan brancai, the labyrinth of Ampelosaurus sp. shows a reduced morphology. The latter feature is possibly related to a restricted range of head-turning movementsThis is a contribution to the research project CGL2009-12143 (Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad, Madrid), of which FK, who is currently supported by the Ramón y Cajal Program, is Principal Investigator. We describe Sarmientosaurus musacchioi gen. et sp. nov., a titanosaurian sauropod dinosaur from the Upper Cretaceous (Cenomanian - Turonian) Lower Member of the Bajo Barreal Formation of southern Chubut Province in central Patagonia, Argentina. The holotypic and only known specimen consists of an articulated, virtually complete skull and part of the cranial and middle cervical series. Sarmientosaurus exhibits the following distinctive features that we interpret as autapomorphies: (1) maximum diameter of orbit nearly 40% rostrocaudal length of cranium; (2) complex maxilla - lacrimal articulation, in which the lacrimal clasps the ascending ramus of the maxilla; (3) medial edge of caudal sector of maxillary ascending ramus bordering bony nasal aperture with low but distinct ridge; (4) ´tongue-like´ ventral process of quadratojugal that overlaps quadrate caudally; (5) separate foramina for all three branches of the trigeminal nerve; (6) absence of median venous canal connecting infundibular region to ventral part of brainstem; (7) subvertical premaxillary, procumbent maxillary, and recumbent dentary teeth; (8) cervical vertebrae with ´strut-like´ centroprezygapophyseal laminae; (9) extremely elongate and slender ossified tendon positioned ventrolateral to cervical vertebrae and ribs. The cranial endocast of Sarmientosaurus preserves some of the most complete information obtained to date regarding the brain and sensory systems of sauropods. Phylogenetic analysis recovers the new taxon as a basal member of Lithostrotia, as the most plesiomorphic titanosaurian to be preserved with a complete skull. Sarmientosaurus provides a wealth of new cranial evidence that reaffirms the close relationship of titanosaurs to Brachiosauridae. Moreover, the presence of the relatively derived lithostrotian Tapuiasaurus in Aptian deposits indicates that the new Patagonian genus represents a ´ghost lineage´ with a comparatively plesiomorphic craniodental form, the evolutionary history of which is missing for at least 13 million years of the Cretaceous. The skull anatomy of Sarmientosaurus suggests that multiple titanosaurian species with dissimilar cranial structures coexisted in the early Late Cretaceous of southern South America. Furthermore, the new taxon possesses a number of distinctive morphologies - such as the ossified cervical tendon, extremely pneumatized cervical vertebrae, and a habitually downward- facing snout - that have rarely, if ever, been documented in other titanosaurs, thus broadening our understanding of the anatomical diversity of this remarkable sauropod clade. The latter two features were convergently acquired by at least one penecontemporaneous diplodocoid, and may represent mutual specializations for consuming low-growing vegetation.Fil: Martínez, Rubén Darío. An article focuses on the new methods for automatic processing and analysis of the scientific papers. It covers the very first part of this task – discovery and harvesting of scientific publications from the internet. Article is focused on discovery and analysis of the html documents to identify publication resources. Usage of data from Common Crawl project allows operating on large subset of the web pages without a need to perform an expensive crawl of the WWW. We present methods for automatic identification of pages describing scholarly documents in WWW network using html meta headers. Presented set of rules applied to the data achieves reasonable quality. A system based on these tools is also presented. It allows easy operating and transferring output to the COntent ANalysis SYStem(CoAnSys) - a processing and analysis system developed in ICM. For achieving this goal set of MapReduce tasks running with Hadoop And Ozzie has been used. The quality and efficiency of described rules are discussed. Finally future challenges for our system are presented

The possibilities of friction force steering using electric current in friction zone

This paper presents a new possibility of using electric current for friction force steering. Typical friction changes of several parameters depending on unit pressure are also presented. Taking into account the conditions of existing weak and strong triboelectrical phenomenon, the possibility of impact electric current on friction force changes is included. The largest changes of friction force take place when an external source of electric energy coexists in the friction zone and the triboelectrical phenomena have the dominant character

The mechanism of boundary layer formation including triboelectric phenomenon

W strefie tarcia, gdy środek smarowy rozdziela dwie powierzchnie, w odpowiednich warunkach zaczynają występować cząsteczki nieobojętne elektrycznie (polarne, naelektryzowane i zjonizowane) w znacznych stężeniach. The aim of this paper is to reveal the mechanism of boundary layer formation. Significant concentrations of electrified particles, ions and non-neutral particles appear in the friction zone in appropriate conditions. Above particles cause intensive triboelectric phenomena and form as a separate layer conducting electric current and generates particles of elevated energy in the sliding zone that influence the boundary layer

The determinants of SMEs’ export entry: A systematic review of the literature

    Get PDF
Despite the plethora of studies on SMEs’ export performance and survival, empirical works on export initiation are relatively limited. Thus far, extant literature has fallen short of determining a comprehensive set of factors affecting firms’ entry to export markets. For these reasons, building on from previous reviews involving export entry, we review 82 papers related to the determinants of SMEs’ export entry published between 2008 and 2019, in order to develop a holistic framework. We provide a comprehensive model that encompasses the key factors associated with this behaviour. We also discuss key issues and propose areas of future research

The engineering practice shows that there are many bearings designed to operate in the field of hydrodynamic friction, but sometimes the oil film breaks and symptoms of wear appear on surfaces. We are interested in the possibility of determining these friction conditions under which the oil film effectively separates the two friction surfaces, and at the same time has a high load capacity and low friction. Parameters describing the selected range of hydrodynamic friction that interests us are as follows: pressure, sliding velocity, temperature and length of the slide at which the oil film not only is not interrupted, but still has a high load capacity and low friction. In this paper, we assume the boundary for the occurrence of hydrodynamic friction to be conditions under which a type of fluid friction changes into a kind of boundary friction. Establishing conditions in which one type of friction takes place helps to make conscious use of this fact to design a plain bearing with low friction and high strength non-interrupting film, and possible wear processes will occur only at moments of start-up and stop.

Boundary layer phenomena are related to adsorption on a friction surface of lubricant particles which can be generally characterized as electrically unneutral, i.e. ions of polar molecules or of electrically charged molecules. Electrically unneutral particles generally occur in lubricants, but they are also generated in the process of friction due to cracking of hydrocarbon chains, electrification and ionization of molecules. The energy of these molecules, in particular those generated in the process of friction, is different and has influence on thickness of the boundary layer, and thereby on friction. The boundary layer made of such molecules can be controlled by electrical, electromagnetic fields. Friction and thickness of the boundary layer can also be controlled. An interesting issue is the range of parameters in which boundary layers are present and determine the process of friction in isolation, thus making it a separate type of boundary friction. This paper show how boundary layers evolve and under impact of what parameters. This allows for informed use of the interesting properties of these layers in practice, and even for control of the friction process. Sterowaniu podlegają opory tarcia i grubość warstewki. Można w ten sposób świadomie wykorzystywać właściwości tych warstw w praktyce, a nawet sterować procesem tarcia
