El conocimiento que poseemos sobre las circunstancias en las que se desarrolló la vida de las tripulaciones de los buques españoles dedicados al tráfico de esclavos entre 1789 y1870, el periodo de mayor auge, es escaso a pesar de constituir uno de los capítulos más notables de la historia social de nuestra marina mercante. Este artículo es una primera aproximación al asunto. El trabajo está estructurado en cinco partes: panorama histórico-político, magnitud del fenómeno, marco geográfico, buques y vida de las tripulaciones. El último apartado es el más extenso y para su elaboración se han utilizado fuentes documentales inéditas hasta hoy

Regional labour market analysis and policy evaluation: Job insecurity, flexibility and complexity. Evidence from Switzerland

The thesis focuses on labour market flexibility, security and complexity. The research is divided into three chapters: two of the chapters specifically relate to perceived security, flexibility and job satisfaction, using data from the longitudinal Swiss Household Panel (SHP), while the last investigates labour market programs and their impact on a regional labour market. The first essay analyses perceptions of economic insecurity in Switzerland, during the business cycle between 2008 and 2011. The analysis contributes to depict perceptions of Swiss workers; results show that perceptions of job security tend to be higher among workers with supervisory responsibilities, among permanent workers and among workers who live in regions that are not adversely affected by economic conditions. The second essay focuses on the determinants of perceived job satisfaction, a summary measure reflecting how workers value various job characteristics, paying specific attention to the role of perceived security and temporary contracts. Results indicate that the duration of the contract may be less important if the worker perceives that he is not at risk of unemployment: job stability and perceived security are nonetheless valued in different ways and the lack of job security is a primary source of job dissatisfaction. No significant differences emerge on the estimated effect by gender, while some heterogeneity is evident by age and education. Finally, the third paper, that follows (ACE) models approach, highlights a mechanism of the job search in a regional labour market characterized by a complex environment where firms, worker agents and policies interact in a systemic way. Current Glacier Area in the Pyrenees: An Updated Assessment 2016

Producción CientíficaLos estudios de superficie glaciar en los Pirineos han informado de más de 2000 ha en 1850, 806,5 ha en la década de 1980 y 310,33 ha en 2008. En este trabajo hemos llevado a cabo una estimación actualizada (2016) de la superficie de los glaciares actuales en los Pirineos, a partir de imágenes satelitales contrastadas con observaciones “in situ” de los glaciares más representativos. Nuestros resultados dan una superficie glaciar de 242,06 ha para el año 2016. Esto implica una reducción del 88,25% desde 1850 y una rápida disminución desde la década de 1980, lo que confirma el acelerado declive durante el final del siglo XX y la primera década del siglo XXI

We study voting mechanisms, which consist of two elements: a profile of sets of votes (this profile describes the votes that voters are allowed to cast) and a voting scheme (which explains how to aggregate those votes). To investigate how these two elements interact, we impose some properties on the sets of votes (i.e., regularity ) and on the voting scheme (i.e., candidate monotonicity, candidate anonymity, and weak neutrality ). Mapping the potential distribution of frozen ground in Tucarroya (Monte Perdido Massif, the Pyrenees)

Producción CientíficaEste trabajo describe la metodología utilizada para cartografiar los suelos potencialmente helados en el valle de Tucarroya, en el Parque Nacional de Ordesa. Para cartografiar las formas asociadas a la presencia de hielo se combinó trabajo de campo, datos térmicos procedentes de sensores automáticos de temperatura del suelo y mediciones de la base del manto de nieve (BTS), así como variables predictivas obtenidas de un Modelo Digital de Elevaciones (MDE). La cartografía diferencia cuatro ambientes, suelo no congelado con actividad de la helada, suelos helados estacionales, permafrost posible y permafrost probable. El mapa revela una extensión del permafrost muy limitada, con escasez de formas asociadas. Solo se ha detectado por encima de los 2700 m de altitud en ambientes topográficos favorables, pendientessuaves y protegidos de la radiación solar. The Effects of Physical Education on Preschoolers’ Emotional Intelligence: A Systematic Review

Fostering Emotional Intelligence (EI) has gained importance to provide a new generation of citizens aimed to improve the human mindset. With this aim, developing EI from early childhood is a great opportunity. The aim of this systematic review was to analyze the effects of physical activity (PA) on preschoolers’ EI. A review of relevant articles was carried out using four electronic databases (Web of Sciences, Scopus, SPORTDiscus, and ProQuest) up to 19 October 2022. From a total of 133 studies initially found, 6 were included in the qualitative synthesis. The main outcomes highlighted that: (i) Increasing PA hours in early childhood could positively influence children’s emotional competence. (ii) The dynamic psychomotor methodology seems more effective than the normative psychomotor teaching methodology for improving preschool-aged children’s EI. (iii) The application of different intervention programs has positive influenced preschool children’s emotional education: the teaching personal and social responsibility model (TPSR) for promoting socio-emotional learning, the psychomotor education program for improving affects, and the psychomotor training program for fueling emotional competence in children with developmental delays. Therefore, physical education classes in preschool could positively influence the development of emotional competence in children at the early childhood education stage

Modelación hidráulica de un canal urbano en la ciudad de Bogotá, caso de estudio: Canal Río Negro

Trabajo de InvestigaciónEn este trabajo de investigación se analizara y modelara el comportamiento hidráulico para conocer cotas máximas de desbordamiento. De acuerdo a las herramientas de trabajo se analizara si el canal de confluencia (para nuestro caso Canal Rio Negro) soporta las condiciones y si su diseño es el adecuado para trabajar excesos de escorrentía. Las inundaciones en los canales representan un grave problema en las temporadas de invierno ya que se generan pérdidas económicas en la infraestructura, problemas de comunicación y dificultades en el transporte en donde el peor de los casos ponen en riesgo la vida de la población. Esto se produce debido a los malos estudios, diseños y mala elección de la calidad de los materiales. Finalmente se recomienda que se selecciones del canal deben de tener ajustes para eventos de alta precipitación que traen como resultado problemas de desbordamiento e inundaciones de las secciones transversales del canal Río Negro, el cual se encuentra ubicado a la altura de la AV NQS con Calle 92 (nororiente de Bogotá) y AV 68 con Calle 80(noroccidente de la ciudad).INTRODUCCIÓN 1.
