Intersection between class and gender and its effect on the quality of employment in Chile
Indexación: Web of Science; Scopus.
laboral chileno. This study explores the impact of the intersection between class and gender on the quality
of employment in Chile. The method used to measure social class position is based on the
work of Erik O. Wright, while, for the quality of employment, a multidimensional measurement
was used, including one index for objective working conditions and two indices for subjective
ones (motivation on the job and the perception of control over work processes). The results
demonstrate that class and gender give rise to signifcant differences in objective and
subjective job quality. However, the data also indicate that gender (more specifcally, the fact
of being female) does not necessarily amplify the class-based inequalities observed in the
labour market. Drawing on these fndings, a number of thoughts about how the class/gender
intersection operates in the Chilean labour market are shared in the fnal section of this studyhttp://hdl.handle.net/11362/4079

Compliance with the measures for preventing vascular risk factors in hospitalised patients with acute stroke. Analysis of a national multi-centre registry: EPICES registry (III)
Pharmacological and dietary measurements, as well as life style, to control risk factors are efficient procedures
to prevent cerebrovascular diseases, though their implementation in the clinics seems not optimal.
Aim. To identify the fulfillment of preventive measurements on a sample of 6197 hospitalized stroke patients, attended by
neurologists.
Patients and methods. Analysis of a secondary objective of the EPICES registry. Primary prevention was considered in
patients without previous record of transitory ischemic attack, stroke, coronary diseases and/or peripheral arterial disease
(n = 3977); secondary prevention was considered in patients with record of coronary and/or peripheral arterial disease,
but without record of cerebrovascular disease (n = 1047); neurological secondary prevention was considered in patients
with a record of transitory ischemic attack and/or stroke, independently of the presence of coronary and/or peripheral
arterial disease (n = 1173).
Results. Secondary prevention and neurological secondary prevention were more efficient than primary prevention (p =
0.028 and p < 0.0001, respectively). Control was higher in centers with some type of structure to assist stroke patients
(p < 0.0001). Influence of age in the taking of therapeutic decisions followed a similar pattern in all three types of
prevention, with a significant reduction on anticoagulation for patients older than 80 years.
Conclusion. The EPICES registry confirms the poor control of risk factors for cerebrovascular diseases. Globally it demonstrated
that the objectives that imply the modification of lifestyle are fulfilled worse than pharmacological preventive measurementsEl registro EPICES fue patrocinado

The role of biblical interpretation in the construction of sexual identity in christian Sunday school material for children: a re-reading of Genesis 3 and Matthew 1.18-25 from a feminist and queer perspective.
Master of Theology in Religion, Philosophy and Classics. University of KwaZulu-Natal, Pietermaritzburg 2016.Christian churches have played an important role in socializing its members on how to behave in society. It is in these dynamics of creating Christian identities that a process of sexual socialization takes place. However, teachings about sexuality are not as explicit and common in Church, but instead, it seems to be a silent process where ambiguous ideas have emerged and which could even be in contradiction among themselves. These ideas have unfortunately promoted patriarchal roles of gender, sexual violent relationships and the imposition of a normative sexuality.
In spite of the lack of evident engagement with sexuality that is found in the church, sexual socialization is happening almost inadvertently since very early ages through Sunday school narratives for children.
This research identifies theologies that work on issues of gender, sexuality and body within the biblical faith, and argues that theses theologies must be taken into account by the church in order to fill the present lack of engagement and proposes a different way to think sexuality from a Christian perspective. It is through the keystones of African feminist theology, body theology, indecent theology, queer theologies, and the methodology of deconstructive literary analysis, that I intend to show how particular narratives of Sunday school material construct and socialize a normative sexual identity with children.
The relevance of this study remains in its careful analysis of the sexual socialization of children through the narratives of the Sunday school material, and the preoccupation for recognizing the different ways of interpreting and sharing with children the biblical texts. To conclude the research I suggest a new reading of the biblical stories shared in the Sunday school material, a reading that promotes sexual rights
Serotypes, virulence genes, and PFGE patterns of enteropathogenic Escherichia coli isolated from Cuban pigs with diarrhea
Thirty-six enteropathogenic Escherichia coli strains isolated from Cuban pigs with diarrhea were serotyped and screened by PCR for the presence of virulence genes. The 36 isolates belonged to 11 O serogroups and 14 O:H serotypes, with 53% of the isolates belonging to only two serotypes: O141:H– (13 isolates) and O157:H19 (6 isolates). Genes coding for STb, STa, VT2e, and LT toxins were identified in 69, 61, 53, and 6% of the isolates, respectively. The most prevalent fimbrial adhesin was F18, detected in 22 (61%) isolates. The gene encoding F6 (P987) colonization factor was identified in three (8%) isolates. None of the 36 isolates assayed contained genes encoding F4 (K88), F5 (K99), or F41. The seropathotype O141:H–:STa/STb/VT2e/F18 (13 isolates) was the most frequently detected, followed by O157:H19:VT2e/F18 (5 isolates). A genetic diversity study, carried out by pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) of 24 representative isolates, revealed 21 distinct restriction patterns clustered in 18 groups (I–XVIII). Isolates of the same serotype were placed together in a dendrogram, but isolates of serotype O157:H19 showed a high degree of polymorphism. The results of this study demonstrate the presence in Cuba of different clusters among one of the most prevalent serotypes isolated from pigs with diarrhea. Further experiments are needed to determine whether some of these clusters have appeared recently; if so, their evolution, as well as their possible association with pathogenicity in farms should be studied. SCASEST
64 páginas.Trabajo de Curso de Experto Universitario en Medicina de Urgencias y Emergencias (2015). Director: Carlos Carrasco Pecci.

Estimation of Optical Porosity or Canopy Structure of Two Species of Tree with Hemispherical and Vertical Images
Meaningful, reliable and fast estimates of woodland canopy are essential to the characterization of
forest ecosystems. In this document, the accuracy of the technology of hemispherical digital photography and
its comparison with a measuring proposal via vertically-arranged photography is evaluated for the estimation of
canopy porosity in two deciduous tree species: oak and Sweet chestnut. Complementarily, estimative models
are proposed of porosity capacity of the species under study, in function of allometric variables of statistical
weight in tree growth: canopy diameter and DBH (diameter breast height). For the execution of this study an
experimental area of rural character was chosen in the Ambroz Valley, in Cáceres Province (Spain), where
Quercus pyrenaica and Castanea sativa were selected as the most representative species. The data was
gathered in the season with greatest foliage development for both species: the summer. The average tree canopy
porosity obtained via the two methods under evaluation is very similar when compared through regression
analysis (R²=0,919 for Sweet chestnut; R²=0,952 for oak). Therefore both methods would be eligible for
measuring OP of the species proposed for this study. The equivalence of measurements in vertical perspective
as opposed to hemispherical makes viable the use of porosity percentages as indicators of what the average
observer is able to visualize through the canopy. Starting from these preliminary conclusions, it would be
feasible to develop a quantification tool for degrees of filtering with application to landscape planning and
reduction of visual impact. Complementary research on other species could be recommendable in order to
standardize and validate this proposal.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Methods of quantifying the visual filtering of vegetation to minimize the impact of buildings on the landscape
Vegetation is used by landscape planners and designers to reduce the visual impact of buildings. The choice of
the species to be used depends on the characteristics of the crown canopy filtering. Nevertheless, the
information on crown canopy filtering is scarce. This work examines the degree of filtering in canopy
architecture of Quercus pyrenaica. The district of the Ambroz Valley, in Cáceres Province was chosen as the
experimental area for the purposes of this research, and here Quercus pyrenaica were chosen as the most
representative species. Two methods were selected for this study: hemispheric photography and vertical
photography. All data was gathered during the summer as this is when the canopy of the species analyzed
reaches its maximum leaf area index. The main aim of this research is to compare the hemispherical
photographic method for calculating the amount of light that passes through the canopy, with that of vertical
photography to obtain filtering percentages in plants.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
