    Symplectic topology of b-symplectic manifolds

    Get PDF
A Poisson manifold (M2n; ) is b-symplectic if Vn is transverse to the zero section. In this paper we apply techniques of Symplectic Topology to address global questions pertaining to b-symplectic manifolds. The main results provide constructions of: b-symplectic submanifolds a la Donaldson, b-symplectic structures on open manifolds by Gromov's h-principle, and of b-symplectic manifolds with a prescribed singular locus, by means of surgeries.Preprin

ABSTARCT: One of the greatest challenges, at the start of the 21st century, is to quantify assets in transfer of knowledge processes generating a value in organizations; therefore it is important to recognize different valuation of intangibles proposals that are having a positive impact in enterprises competitiveness and sustainability. This being so, the main objective of this study is to identify the primary methodologies of valuation of intangibles assets and applying a Know How valuation methodology. To this end, a blend between documentary research and cost method was used as a methodological resource. It is obtained in the results that referring to valuation of intangibles, the most used methods in the academic and corporate field are as follows: cost, market and revenue value, being the cost method the ideal when quantifying this kind of intangible assets affecting an organization

Structural mechanical simulation to optimize the sensor arm geometry to be implemented on cranial remodeling orthosis

    Get PDF
For the treatment of moderate and severe cases of deformational plagiocephaly, an asymmetrical deformation of the skull, a cranial remodeling orthosis (CRO) is used. For the development of a new CRO concept, a pressure sensor grid is placed inside the orthosis that will allow the monitoring of excessive pressures and incorrect CRO positioning throughout the treatment. To implement the sensor grid in the CRO, high mobility of the sensor arms structure that joins the several sensors of this grid is required, however, it is intended that this procedure does not damage the printed copper tracks on the sensor structure. In this study, computer simulations were performed to optimize the sensor arm structure geometry, minimizing undesirable mechanical behavior in the sensor structure when subjected to tensile forces and displacements applied during its placement in the CRO. It was observed that the different sensor arm structures geometries have different effects on the mechanical behavior of the sensor structure when subjected to tensile forces and tensile displacement. The zigzag curve geometry presents the best performance based on high mobility without intense strain on the structure that could damage the printed copper tracks.511F-603F-4B30 | Francisco MirandaN/

In today’s society, creativity and necessity lead to thecreation of SMEs that operate in different economic sectors. This entrepreneurial opportunity is reflected in thepopulation of Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico, whichtakes advantage of the production of the primary sector, transforming raw materials into finished products to market for the consumption of the same community and tourists. This research has the objective of identifying theway in which SMEs producing artisanal foods use themarketing activities at the actual time of commercialize. The applied methodology had a non-experimental,quantitative, transversal and descriptive design. The result obtained through the instrument found that more thanhalf of entrepreneurs have knowledge in marketing tools, however, it is not the same proportion that uses thesetools in the commercialization of their products.

The need to implement actions to mitigate emissions of atmospheric pollutants and to reduce concentrations of pollutants to the population and the environment requires a temporal analysis of the evolution of emissions, concentrations and indicators representing health ef fects potentially associated with air pollution. It was possible to carr y out a comparative analysis between 2009 and 2015 considering the geographical distribution in the Por tuguese mainland, addressing pollutant emissions nitrogen oxides (NOx), sulphur oxides (SOx), methane (CH4 ), carbon dioxide (CO2 ), ammonia (NH3 ), inhalable coarse par ticles with a diameter of 10 μm or less (PM10), fine par ticles with a diameter of 2.5 μm or less (PM2.5), the annual average concentrations of the main pollutants (SO2 , NO2 , O3 , PM10, PM2.5); and public health indicators (number of deaths due to defined cause, potentially associated with air pollution). Regarding the health ef fects, it was obser ved that dif ferent trends are presented in each associated cause of death, being able to identif y the zones of Nor th, Center and Lisbon as the most af fected in these causes of death. The dif ferences recorded can be analy zed as evidence of existences of ex ternal factors that determine the variations in the number of deaths recorded from year to year in dif ferent regions.

    Get PDF
