    Evaluación del paisaje de la Comunidad de Madrid: de la protección a la gestión territorial

    La Comunidad de Madrid ha estimado de interés contar con una caracterización, diagnóstico y evaluación de la calidad del paisaje que permita el establecimiento de criterios de protección y ordenación del territorio, conforme a lo establecido por la Ley 9/2001, de 17 de julio, del Suelo de la Comunidad de Madrid. Como resultado del estudio llevado a cabo, se dispone de una caracterización del patrimonio paisajístico de la Comunidad a escala 1:25.000, de un diagnóstico sintético de las tendencias del paisaje por grandes conjuntos paisajísticos, y de una primera valoración de cada paisaje, que puede constituir, junto a otras variables, un criterio operativo de ordenación territorial, concretamente para la definición de suelos no urbanizables de protección por su interés paisajístico. En el artículo se incide en los aspectos metodológicos de la tipología y caracterización del paisaje madrileño a una escala pertinente para la gestión del territorio y, sobre todo, en los criterios y resultados de valoración, y en su traslación a una propuesta de regulación de usos, de acuerdo con los valores y el estado del paisaje, y con los requerimientos de la legislación urbanística de la ComunidadThe region of Madrid has deemed it of interest to have a description, diagnosis and evaluation of the landscape quality to allow the establishment of protection and zoning criteria for the territory, according to the Land Act 9/2001 of July 17.     Self-Assembly of CsPbBr3Perovskites in Micropatterned Polymeric Surfaces: Toward Luminescent Materials with Self-Cleaning Properties

    In this work, we present a series of porous, honeycomb-patterned polymer films containing CsPbBr3 perovskite nanocrystals as light emitters prepared by the breath figure approach. Microscopy analysis of the topography and composition of the material evidence that the CsPbBr3 nanocrystals are homogeneously distributed within the polymer matrix but preferably confined inside the pores due to the fabrication process. The optical properties of the CsPbBr3 nanocrystals remain unaltered after the film formation, proving that they are stable inside the polystyrene matrix, which protects them from degradation by environmental factors. Moreover, these surfaces present highly hydrophobic behavior due to their high porosity and defined micropatterning, which is in agreement with the Cassie-Baxter model. This is evidenced by performing a proof-of-concept coating on top of 3D-printed LED lenses, conferring the material with self-cleaning properties, while the CsPbBr3 nanocrystals embedded inside the polymeric matrix maintain their luminescent behavior.This work was funded by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities (project TEC2017-86102-C2-2-R) and Junta de Andalucía (Research group INNANOMAT, ref.     Copper (II) Metallodendrimers Combined with Pro-Apoptotic siRNAs as a Promising Strategy Against Breast Cancer Cells

    Cancer treatment with small interfering RNA (siRNA) is one of the most promising new strategies; however, transfection systems that increase its bioavailability and ensure its delivery to the target cell are necessary. Transfection systems may be just vehicular or could contain fragments with anticancer activity that achieves a synergistic effect with siRNA. Cationic carbosilane dendrimers have proved to be powerful tools as non-viral vectors for siRNA in cancer treatment, and their activity might be potentiated by the inclusion of metallic complexes in its dendritic structure. We have herein explored the interaction between Schiff-base carbosilane copper (II) metallodendrimers, and pro-apoptotic siRNAs. The nanocomplexes formed by metallodendrimers and different siRNA have been examined for their zeta potential and size, and by transmission electron microscopy, fluorescence polarisation, circular dichroism, and electrophoresis. The internalisation of dendriplexes has been estimated by flow cytometry and confocal microscopy in a human breast cancer cell line (MCF-7), following the ability of these metallodendrimers to deliver the siRNA into the cell. Finally, in vitro cell viability experiments have indicated effective interactions between Cu (II) dendrimers and pro-apoptotic siRNAs: Mcl-1 and Bcl-2 in breast cancer cells.     Antioxidant and Antibacterial Properties of Carbosilane Dendrimers Functionalized with Polyphenolic Moieties

    A new family of polyphenolic carbosilane dendrimers functionalized with ferulic, caffeic, and gallic acids has been obtained through a straightforward amidation reaction. Their antioxidant activity has been studied by different techniques such as DPPH (2,2 '-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) radical scavenging assay, FRAP assay (ferric reducing antioxidant power), and cyclic voltammetry. The antioxidant analysis showed that polyphenolic dendrimers exhibited higher activities than free polyphenols in all cases. The first-generation dendrimer decorated with gallic acid stood out as the best antioxidant compound, displaying a correlation between the number of hydroxyl groups in the polyphenol structure and the antioxidant activity of the compounds. Moreover, the antibacterial capacity of these new systems has been screened against Gram-positive (+) and Gram-negative (-) bacteria, and we observed that polyphenolic dendrimers functionalized with caffeic and gallic acids were capable of decreasing bacterial growth. In contrast, ferulic carbosilane dendrimers and free polyphenols showed no effect, establishing a correlation between antioxidant activity and antibacterial capacity.     Exploring the Interactions of Ruthenium (II) carbosilane metallodendrimers and precursors with model cell membranes through a dual spin label spin probe technique using EPR

    Dendrimers exhibit unique interactions with cell membranes, arising from their nanometric size and high surface area. To a great extent, these interactions define their biological activity and can be reported in situ by spin-labelling techniques. Schiff-base carbosilane ruthenium (II) metallodendrimers are promising antitumor agents with a mechanism of action yet to explore. In order to study their in situ interactions with model cell membranes occurring at a molecular level, namely cetyltrimethylammonium bromide micelles (CTAB) and lecithin liposomes (LEC), electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) was selected. Both a spin probe, 4-(N,N-dimethyl-N-dodecyl)ammonium-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl bromide (CAT12), able to enter the model membranes, and a spin label, 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl (TEMPO) covalently attached at newly synthesized heterofunctional dendrimers, were used to provide complementary information on the dendrimer-membrane interactions. The computer-aided EPR analysis demonstrated a good agreement between the results obtained for the spin probe and spin label experiments. Both points of view suggested the partial insertion of the dendrimer surface groups into the surfactant aggregates, mainly CTAB micelles, and the occurrence of both polar and hydrophobic interactions, while dendrimer-LEC interactions involved more polar interactions between surface groups. We found out that subtle changes in the dendrimer structure greatly modified their interacting abilities and, subsequently, their anticancer activity

    A New Reference Sample for High-Frequency Multipactor Testing

    [EN] Multipactor (MP) is a high-power effect severely limiting the performance of satellite communication links. A reference sample is normally used in the experimental setups for MP testing in order to verify its correct operation. However, the low gaps required for high frequencies jeopardize the manufacturability of the devices traditionally used for this purpose. A new reference sample, based on a stepped-impedance resonator (SIR), is proposed in this letter. The key design considerations are also outlined.     Study of the Secondary Electron Yield in Dielectrics Using Equivalent Circuital Models

In this paper, we propose a theoretical model, based on equivalent circuit models, to properly understand charging and discharging processes that occur in dielectric samples under electron irradiation for secondary electron emission characterization. Experimental results obtained for Pt, Si, GaS, and Teflon samples are presented to verify the accuracy of the proposed model.     Analysis of multipactor RF breakdown in a waveguide containing a transversely magnetized ferrite

    In this paper, the multipactor RF breakdown in a parallel-plate waveguide partially filled with a ferrite slab magnetized normal to the metallic plates is studied. An external magnetic field is applied along the vertical direction between the plates in order to magnetize the ferrite. Numerical simulations using an in-house 3D code are carried out to obtain the multipactor RF voltage threshold in this kind of structures.
