    Variación espacio-temporal de microalgas acuáticas del embalse de Betania – Huila y su relación con la calidad del agua

    The Betania reservoir is one of the most important lentic systems in Colombia, not only for its importance as generator of electric energy but also for being one of the main sources of economic productivity due to activities such as pisciculture. Over a period of one year, combined samples of phytoplankton were made in ten stations of the reservoir. The samples were studied under a quantitative-qualitative analysis in order to obtain three ecological indexes (Shannon-Weiver, Pielou and Whilm and Dorris) to establish the level of water pollution. An Analysis of Variance was applied to determine if there is any statistical fluctuation in the number of individuals per milliliter between stations or months. The results suggest that the Betania reservoir is going through an eutrophication process according to the organisms observed in the phytoplankton community. This process increases when rain decreases, concurrent with fish mortality episodes. It is necessary to take appropriate management measures in order to preserve the useful life of the reservoir.El embalse de Betania es uno de los cuerpos de agua lénticos más importantes de Colombia, no solo por su importancia como generador de energía eléctrica sino por su uso como fuente de productividad económica a través de la piscicultura. Durante más de un año, se realizaron muestreos combinados de fitoplancton en diez estaciones del embalse de Betania. Las muestras se llevaron a un análisis cualitativo-cuantitativo, con el fin de poder establecer mediante el uso de índices ecológicos (Shannon-Weiver, Índice de Equidad de Pielou, Whilm y Dorris), el nivel de contaminación del agua y determinar si existe alguna fluctuación de ésta, entre las diferentes estaciones a lo largo del año. Los resultados permitieron concluir que el embalse de Betania presenta niveles de eutrofización, que se ven reflejados en la composición de organismos planctónicos registrados en los puntos de muestreo. Este proceso se intensifica cuando disminuyen las lluvias y coincide con una mayor mortandad de los peces. Es importante tomar medidas de manejo apropiadas, si se pretende prolongar la vida útil de este cuerpo de agua

    This work proposes the use of automatic co-registered satellite images to obtain large, high frequency and highly accurate shorelines time series. High resolution images are used to co-register Landsat and Sentinel-2 images. 90% of the co-registered images presented vertical and horizontal shift lower than 3 m. Satellite derived shorelines presented errors lower than mission’s precision. A discussion is presented on the applicability of those shorelines through an application to Tordera Delta (Spain)

    Plants Probiotics as a Tool to Produce Highly Functional Fruits: The Case of Phyllobacterium and Vitamin C in Strawberries

Functional foods are increasingly demanded by consumers because they contain bioactive compounds involved in health protection. In this sense biofertilization using plant probiotics is a reliable alternative to the use of chemical fertilizers, but there are few studies about the effects of plant probiotics on the yield of functional fruits and, especially, on the content of bioactive compounds. In the present work we reported that a strain of genus Phyllobacterium able to produce biofilms and to colonize strawberry roots is able to increase the yield and quality of strawberry plants. In addition, the fruits from plants inoculated with this strain have significantly higher content in vitamin C, one of the most interesting bioactive compounds in strawberries.     [Excerpt] In recent decades there have been very significant changes in the social vision of disability and social and educational inclusion (Naciones Unidas, 2006; UNESCO, 2020). These changes are reflected in models of intervention and care, in pedagogical approaches to inclusive education and in the field of research itself (Porter and Towell, 2019). One of the main advances has focused on the care of children with disabilities or possible alterations in their development, putting the focus on the empowerment of primary caregivers, support networks and family quality of life (Martínez-Rico et al., 2022). Intervention models have been based on the implementation of evidence-based practices (recommended practices, Division for Early Childhood, 2014) and intervention in natural settings (McWilliam, 2010). Inclusion of all children must start from an early age (UNESCO, 2020), fostering social participation (Paseka and Schwab, 2020) and ensuring equal opportunities and lifelong learning for all (Meyer et al., 2016; Guralnick, 2023).     Las oportunidades de las TIC en el Prácticum han sido objeto de estudio y análisis durante los últimos años, tanto para la gestión de este período formativo como para su tutorización y seguimiento, la búsqueda de información y la comunicación entre los implicados. En menor medida se ha indagado sobre sus posibilidades para la evaluación, la participación y la innovación educativa. Este trabajo se centra en el conocimiento que sobre las TIC poseen y la utilización que realizan 29 futuros docentes durante su período de prácticas curriculares. La información obtenida a través de un cuestionario creado ad hoc, permite concluir que durante este período formativo es escaso el uso de creativo e interactivo de los recursos tecnológicos, así como la práctica de metodologías innovadoras y activas en contextos reales

    Consequências da diferença de idade na classe: Um estudo observacional em crianças de quatro anos

    En los sistemas escolares se establecen fechas de corte para agrupar a los alumnos y alumnas en función de la edad. Esta medida conlleva a que en una misma aula se encuentre alumnado con diferencias de edad hasta de un año. El propósito de este estudio fue analizar la diferencia en el desarrollo de niños y niñas de cuatro años en función del trimestre de nacimiento. Ochenta y cinco alumnos y alumnas participaron de forma voluntaria en el estudio. Se utilizó la Escala Observacional del Desarrollo como instrumento de valoración. Se observaron diferencias entre los niños y niñas nacidas en los dos primeros trimestres del año, respecto a los nacidos en el último, (p = 0.002). Mencionadas diferencias en una misma aula deberían ser solventadas mediante reformas a nivel educativo. No se encontraron diferencias significativas en función del sexo.Students are grouped according to age in school. Hence, into a classroom there may be differences in age of nearly a year. The purpose of this study was to analyze the difference between development in four-year-old children according to the quarter of the year of their birth. Eighty-five students participated voluntarily in the study. The observational scale of development was used as a tool for assessment. There are clear differences between boys and girls born in the first two quarters of the year, compared to those born in the last, (p = 0.002). Mentioned differences in the same classroom should be resolved through reforms in the education level. Tal medida suporta que em uma classe sejam encontrados estudantes com diferenças de idade de quase um ano. O objetivo de este estudo foi analisar a diferença de idade no desenvolvimento de crianças de quatro anos, em razão do trimestre de nascimento. Oitenta e cinco estudantes participaram voluntariamente do estudo. A Escala Observacional do Desenvolvimento foi usada como instrumento de avaliação. Foram observadas diferenças entre as crianças nascidas nos dois primeiros trimestres do ano em comparação com as nascidas no último (p = 0,002).     The presence of many biologically active components makes pumpkins extremely attractive to the phytochemical manufacturing industry. Studies have demonstrated that the oil extracted from the seeds has different biological activities. This study aimed to determine the fatty acid composition and total tocopherol content of the pumpkin seed oil (Cucurbita moschata – Jacarezinho cultivar) extracted by supercritical carbon dioxide (Sc-CO2) and hexane/isopropanol. The fatty acids composition and content of total tocopherols were determined by GC, GC/FID, HPLC, respectively. We also evaluated in vitro schistosomicidal activities of the crude oil, which have been described with anti-parasitic activities. Sc-CO2 extracted pumpkin seed oil, with a maximum yield of 24.3 ± 0.4%, much higher than hexane/isopropanol extraction (8.3 ± 2.7%). Was not observe differences between the non-polar compounds present in the oil extracted by both methods. In the seed oil, unsaturated acids are dominant (oleic and linoleic). The results indicate that the oil has an excellent quality, with high contents of unsaturated fatty acids (73% of total fatty acids) and total tocopherols (14 mg100g-1 of oil). Although popularly reported as anti-parasitic activities caused no mortality, tegumental alterations or significant decrease in motor activity in all adult parasites. Sc-CO2 was able to extract pumpkin seed oil with a much higher yield than extraction with hexane/isopropanol and no differences were observe between the non-polar compounds present in the oil extracted by both methods. The oil is popularly used as an antiparasitic agent but in this study did not show antiparasitary actividies
