Iconography, Stereotypes and Photographic Manipulation of Female Beauty
Research tendencies that have been developed with regard to iconography, stereotypes and the concept of female beauty are studied. The aim is to suggest a unified view about the image of women, their iconography, stereotypes and beauty. Topics that are interrelated through the same positive and negative dichotomy, present in women’s illustration throughout history. Nowadays it is reflected in the advertising market with the image of the woman as a housewife in comparison to the woman as a desire object, private and public life. In order to do so, the most recent bibliography about these three topics is gone through
Smoking behaviour, involuntary smoking, attitudes towards smoke-free legislations, and tobacco control activities in the European Union
The six most important cost-effective policies on tobacco control can be measured by the Tobacco Control Scale (TCS). The objective of our study was to describe the correlation between the TCS and smoking prevalence, self-reported exposure to secondhand smoke (SHS) and attitudes towards smoking restrictions in the 27 countries of the European Union (EU27)
Global controllability tests for geometric hybrid control systems
Hybrid systems are characterized by having an interaction between continuous
dynamics and discrete events. The contribution of this paper is to provide
hybrid systems with a novel geometric formulation so that controls can be
added. Using this framework we describe some new global controllability tests
for hybrid control systems exploiting the geometry and the topology of the set
of jump points, where the instantaneous change of dynamics take place.
Controllability is understood as the existence of a feasible trajectory for the
system joining any two given points. As a result we describe examples where
none of the continuous control systems are controllable, but the associated
hybrid system is controllable because of the characteristics of the jump set.Comment: 27 pages, 5 figure
We present 3 case s of infected pseudoarthrosis of the tibia and 2 postraumatic
bone necrosis in which after radical resection of the infected or necrotic bone
fragment, a severe bone defect remained. The treatment consisted of transporting a
fragment of the same bone using the external fixator according to the Ilizarov technique.
In all cases consolidation and new bone formation wer e achieved. In one case, and
infection of the regenerated bone occurred, which was treated with drainage and grafting
with homologous cancellous bone , and posterior covering with a flap of rotated
medial gastrocnemius and skin graft. We conclude that bone transpor t is a safe method,
that the new formed bone is of great quality and that it is a relatively rapid treatment
for severe bone defects due to a traumatic or infectious aetiology
