Une enquĂȘte faite auprĂšs des sans-abris de la rĂ©gion de MontrĂ©al-Centre et de QuĂ©bec montre une prĂ©valence notable de personnes souffrant de schizophrĂ©nie chez les sans-abris qui ont recours aux centres d’aide. Selon cette enquĂȘte, l’intervention de premiĂšre ligne devrait miser sur un meilleur encadrement des personnes victimes de troubles mentaux pour Ă©viter qu’ils se retrouvent sans abri.Cet outil vise Ă  apporter une aide considĂ©rable au travail d'intervenants sociaux d'organismes communautaires de MontrĂ©al travaillant avec une clientĂšle itinĂ©rante. DĂ©taillant les symptĂŽmes de la maladie ainsi que les approches possibles par rapport au traitement de la schizophrĂ©nie, ce document vous offrira l’opportunitĂ© de mieux comprendre l’individu ayant un diagnostic de schizophrĂ©nie. De plus, il vous donnera aussi des outils pour mieux l’accompagner dans son traitement et favoriser sa motivation.     Genomics of perivascular space burden unravels early mechanisms of cerebral small vessel disease

    Perivascular space (PVS) burden is an emerging, poorly understood, magnetic resonance imaging marker of cerebral small vessel disease, a leading cause of stroke and dementia. Genome-wide association studies in up to 40,095 participants (18 population-based cohorts, 66.3 ± 8.6 yr, 96.9% European ancestry) revealed 24 genome-wide significant PVS risk loci, mainly in the white matter. These were associated with white matter PVS already in young adults (N = 1,748; 22.1 ± 2.3 yr) and were enriched in early-onset leukodystrophy genes and genes expressed in fetal brain endothelial cells, suggesting early-life mechanisms. In total, 53% of white matter PVS risk loci showed nominally significant associations (27% after multiple-testing correction) in a Japanese population-based cohort (N = 2,862; 68.3 ± 5.3 yr). Mendelian randomization supported causal associations of high blood pressure with basal ganglia and hippocampal PVS, and of basal ganglia PVS and hippocampal PVS with stroke, accounting for blood pressure.     Les attitudes et comportements alimentaires dĂ©veloppĂ©s pendant la petite enfance influencent grandement la relation future du mangeur Ă  l’égard des aliments. Le parent s’avĂšre en ce sens des plus dĂ©terminants. Cette Ă©tude vise Ă  connaĂźtre les pratiques observĂ©es et les attitudes adoptĂ©es par les parents quĂ©bĂ©cois d’enfants d’ñge prĂ©scolaire pour favoriser le « bien manger ». La collecte de donnĂ©es a Ă©tĂ© effectuĂ©e Ă  l’aide de cartes postales distribuĂ©es dans les centres de la petite enfance du QuĂ©bec pour ensuite ĂȘtre remises aux parents. L’analyse des rĂ©ponses Ă  la question ouverte figurant sur la carte postale a Ă©tĂ© rĂ©alisĂ©e sur la base du modĂšle des prises alimentaires de Jean-Pierre Poulain. 1257 cartes postales ont Ă©tĂ© retenues aux fins d’analyses. Les donnĂ©es recueillies permettent dans un premier temps de connaĂźtre la perception des parents quant Ă  la notion de « manger bien ». Les notions de qualitĂ© et de quantitĂ©, diamĂ©tralement opposĂ©es, se dĂ©marquent. Cette Ă©tude permet de constater la variĂ©tĂ© des stratĂ©gies employĂ©es par les parents quĂ©bĂ©cois au moment du repas. D’une grande pertinence pour la santĂ© publique, ces donnĂ©es permettront de cibler les messages clĂ©s Ă  promouvoir auprĂšs de ces acteurs d’influence dans le dĂ©veloppement des habitudes alimentaires des tout-petits.Eating attitudes and behaviours developed during early childhood have a major impact on the future relationship of the eater with regard to food. And it is the parent who has the most influential role in this respect. This study is aimed at bringing out the practices observed and the attitudes adopted by QuĂ©bec parents of pre-school age children in order to help them “eat properly.” Data was collected using postcards that were distributed around QuĂ©bec day-care centres where they were handed out to parents. The analysis of the answers to the open-ended question on the postcard was carried out using Jean-Pierre Poulain’s food intake model as a basis. 1257 postcards were used for analytical purposes. The data gathered initially allowed us to understand the way in which parents perceived the idea of “eating properly.” The diametrically opposed notions of quality and quantity were made very clear. This study brings out the range of strategies used by QuĂ©bec parents at mealtimes. The data gathered, which is extremely relevant to public health, will allow one to determine what key messages need to be passed on to these stakeholders when it comes to developing small children’s eating habits

    International audienceDprA, a ubiquitous multidomain DNA-binding protein, plays a crucial role during natural transformation in bacteria. Here, we carried out the structural analysis of DprA from the human pathogen Helicobacter pylori by combining data issued from the 1.8 Å resolution X-ray structure of the Pfam02481 domain dimer (RF), the NMR structure of the carboxy-terminal domain (CTD) and the low-resolution structure of the full-length DprA dimer obtained in solution by SAXS. In particular, we sought a molecular function for the CTD, a domain that we show here is essential for transformation in H. pylori. Albeit its structural homology to winged helix DNA binding motifs, we confirmed that the isolated CTD does not interact with ssDNA nor with dsDNA. The key R52 and K137 residues of RF are crucial for these two interactions. Search for sequences harboring homology to either HpDprA or Rhodopseudomonas palustris DprA CTDs led to the identification of conserved patches in the two CTD. Our structural study revealed the similarity of the structures adopted by these residues in RpDprA CTD and HpDprA CTD. This argues for a conserved, but yet to be defined, CTD function, distinct from DNA binding. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved
