La gestión de la terminología en interpretación social a través de dispositivos móviles

Los traductores tienen a su disposición una gran cantidad de herramientas y aplicaciones para gestionar la terminología. Sin embargo, los intérpretes sociales, cuya función es permitir a la población que no domina la lengua oficial del país acceder a los servicios básicos y comunicarse con los proveedores de dichos servicios (Shlessinger, 2011: 6), no se han beneficiado del mismo nivel de innovación y su metodología de trabajo todavía sigue siendo rudimentaria y manual. En consecuencia, en este trabajo pretendemos establecer una serie de parámetros basándonos en la literatura precedente para evaluar varias herramientas de gestión terminológica teniendo en cuenta las necesidades de los intérpretes sociales. Con los resultados que obtengamos extraeremos las conclusiones, que señalarán la necesidad de tener en cuenta nuevas propuestas para implementar las herramientas de gestión terminológica para la interpretación social así como de ofrecer nuevos procedimientos de búsqueda a intérpretes sociales tanto profesionales como en formación.Els traductors tenen a l'abast una gran quantitat d'eines i d'aplicacions per a gestionar la terminologia. Tanmateix, els intèrprets socials, la funció dels quals és permetre a la població que no domina la llengua oficial del país accedir als serveis bàsics i comunicar-se amb els proveïdors d'aquests serveis (Shlessinger, 2011: 6), no s'han beneficiat del mateix nivell d'innovació, i la seva metodologia de treball continua essent rudimentària i manual. En conseqüència, en aquest treball pretenem establir una sèrie de paràmetres basant-nos en la bibliografia precedent per a avaluar diverses eines de gestió terminològica tenint en compte les necessitats dels intèrprets socials. Amb els resultats que n'obtinguem, extraurem les conclusions, que apuntaran la necessitat de tenir en compte noves propostes per implementar les eines de gestió terminològica per a la interpretació social, com també d'oferir nous procediments de cerca a intèrprets socials professionals i en formació.Translators have a great variety of tools and applications for terminology management. Thus, having taken into account the special needs of community interpreters, in this paper we establish a set of parameters from the conclusions drawn from the literature review to assess to what extent terminology management tools meet these needs. Then, a selection of terminology management tools are analysed. La Gestión del léxico especializado en los diccionarios electrónicos bilingües

El lèxic general s'incrementa amb unitats circumscrites a contextos especialitzats, que s'incorporen gradualment en els diccionaris generals bilingües. En conseqüència, considerem pertinent aproximar-nos a l'estudi de la gestió del lèxic especialitzat en dos diccionaris electrònics bilingües, ja que els resultats posaran en relleu la necessitat de plantejar noves propostes tant per al tractament d'aquest lèxic com per augmentar l'eficàcia de la recuperació de la informació especialitzada en aquestes obres.General vocabulary has been gradually enlarged with terms traditionally limited to specialised discourse. These terms are included in new editions of general bilingual dictionaries. Consequently, in our paper we propose to study the management of specialised vocabulary in two bilingual e-dictionaries. The resulting data may allow us to consider new proposals about specialised vocabulary treatment in general bilingual e-dictionaries as well as to implement the effectiveness of specialised data retrieval in these tools.El léxico general se ve incrementado con unidades circunscritas a contextos especializados, que se incorporan paulatinamente en los diccionarios generales bilingües. Online Training for the Language Industries: Translation and Interpreting Training in the Digital Era

Language industries (LIs) keep growing while language professionals are required to be proficient in novel skills to meet new market needs. Within this context, an institutional consortium launched the EU-funded FOIL initiative (Formación Online para las Industrias de la Lengua - Online Training for Language Industries, 2020-1-ES01-KA226-HE-096155). The FOIL initiative seeks to bridge the gap between the industry and higher-education curricula proposing an innovative, inclusive training model taking the most out of technological advances, and providing a new, industry-oriented and research-based qualification. This paper discusses the online modular training model, focusing specifically on its goals, and the five independent and complementary training modules that integrate its structure, as well as the profile and needs of its prospective users

Sanctuary cities as a strategy for positioning themselves in the world. The cases of Valencia and Zaragoza (Spain)

Los objetivos de la presente investigación son conocer y comparar las acciones planteadas por los ayuntamientos de València y Zaragoza, dos poblaciones españolas declaradas ‘ciudad refugio’. El periodo de análisis de este estudio de casos parte de 2015, año clave en la crisis de refugiados en el Mediterráneo, y en el que ambas poblaciones experimentaron un cambio político tras las elecciones municipales. Los consistorios incluyen a partir de ese año partidas presupuestarias para la ayuda al refugiado, realizan declaraciones institucionales, campañas de concienciación, colaboran con ONG, se integran en redes de municipios de solidaridad con los refugiados y participan en encuentros y jornadas internacionales. Sin embargo, el análisis de los resultados sugiere que estas apuestas dependen de estrategias de partido más que de un verdadero sentido de ciudad. A pesar de suponer una táctica eficaz para situar a las ciudades en el mundo, con un discurso autónomo, su implementación se encuentra sometida a las dinámicas políticas locales, lo que las convierte en propuestas frágiles.This study seeks to define and compare the actions proposed by the local councils of Valencia and Zaragoza, two Spanish cities nominated as ‘refuge city’. The analysis period for this case study starts from 2015, a key year in the refugee crisis in the Mediterranean, and in which both cities experienced a political change following the municipal elections. From that year, the city councils have included budgetary items for refugee aid. In addition, they make institutional statements, perform awareness campaigns, collaborate with NGOs, integrate in networks of municipalities in solidarity with refugees and participate in international meetings and conferences. However, analysis of the results suggests that these initiatives are dependent on political party strategies rather than a true sense of the city. Terminology management systems for interpreters in medical settings: an overview

Los traductores tienen una amplia variedad de herramientas para gestionar la terminología, pero los intérpretes no se han beneficiado del mismo nivel de innovación, a pesar de que el léxico especializado constituye una de las principales dificultades para los intérpretes en el ámbito biosanitario. En consecuencia, en este trabajo nos proponemos establecer unos parámetros para analizar los sistemas de gestión terminológica actuales desde la perspectiva de los intérpretes del ámbito biosanitario. Los resultados que se desprendan del análisis nos permitirán mejorar tanto el diseño de los sistemas de gestión terminológica como los procedimientos de búsqueda utilizados por los intérpretes de este ámbito.Translators have a wide variety of computer-assisted tools for terminology management.
