The Spanish term structure of interest rates revisited: cointegration with multiple structural breaks, 1974-2010

    Get PDF
In this paper we consider the possibility that a linear cointegrated regression model with multiples structural changes would provide a better empirical description of the term structure model of interest rates. Our methodology is based on instability tests recently proposed in Kejriwal and Perron (2010) as well as the cointegration test in Arai and Kurozumi (2007) and Kejriwal (2008) developed to allow for multiple breaks under the null hypothesis of cointegration.Term structure of interest rates; Cointegration; Multiple Structural Breaks.

Treball Final de Grau en Mestre o Mestra d'Educació Primària. Codi: MP1040. In the present Final of Degree work, it has been researched in the autism field and music through the search of different studies and researches to show the benefits that the music offers as a therapy, in this case applied to children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). In this work of professional nature of the title of Primary Teaching Degree it has wanted to prove the worth of music therapy for children with autism, creating and implementing an intervention plan, consisting of eight music sessions. The aim of this work is to propose a series of activities to work the attention through music with children with autism and evaluate their efficacy. In order to evaluate the efficacy of the activities created for children with ASD, a music workshop has been developed in which the didactic proposal is: “Music as an instrument for working the attention deficit in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder”. The workshop sessions have been applied to a small group of six children all diagnosed with ASD, all of them with different ages and different degrees of autism. In order to pick up the data, a qualitative methodology has been followed in which a deep and detailed study of the development of the activities in relation to children has been carried out. The technique that has been used to analyse and evaluate the activities proposed in the intervention is the direct observation, with the help of the Therapeutic Pedagogy teacher, while the children perform the activities to observe their evolution individually and as a group

Quadrature Hybrid Circuit for the Optical Single Sideband Modulation of microwave signals

    Get PDF
Optical Single Sideband modulation of RF signals at 2 GHz has been experimentally observed. The signal was driven into a microwave circuit that incorporates a quadrature hybrid and a bias network and redirected to a dual-drive Mach-Zehnder modulator. The design of the microwave circuit by using commercial ADS software is presented, as well as the resulting sideband rejection ratio of 20 dB recorded through heterodyne spectrum measurements of the optical modulated signal.2014/201

External sustainability in Spanish economy: bubbles and crises, 1970–2020

    Get PDF
We address the issue of the sustainability Spain's external debt, using data for the period 1970–2020. To detect episodes of potentially explosive behavior of the Spanish net foreign assets over GDP ratio and the current account balance over GDP ratio, as well as episodes of external adjustments over this long period, we employ a recursive unit root test approach. Our empirical analysis leads us to conclude that there is some evidence of bubbles in the ratio between Spanish net foreign assets and the GDP. In contrast, the evidence that the ratio between the Spanish current account balance and the GDP had explosive subperiods is very weak. The episode of explosive behavior identified in the position of net foreign assets during the period 2002–2015 was the result of the country's economic expansion 1995–2007. The results also show an external adjustment during the period 2008–2019 after the start of a cyclical economic recession

Testing for rational bubbles in Australian housing market from a long-term perspective

    Get PDF
31 p.In this article, we use tests of explosive behavior in real house prices with annual data for the case of Australia for the period 1870– 2020. The main contribution of this paper is the use of very long time series. It is important to use longer span data because it o¤ers more powerful econometric results. In order to detect episodes of potential explosive behavior in house prices over this long period, we use the recursive unit root tests for explosiveness proposed by Phillips, Wu, and Yu (2011), and Phillips, Shi, and Yu (2015a,b). According to the results, there is clear speculative bubble behavior in real house prices between 1997-2020, speculative process that has not yet been adjusted

Spacecraft magnetic attitude control using approximating sequence Riccati equations

    Get PDF
This paper presents the results of a spacecraft attitude control system based on magnetic actuators designed for low Earth orbits. The control system is designed by using a nonlinear control technique based on the approximating sequence of Riccati equations. The behavior of the satellite is discussed under perturbations and model uncertainties. Simulation results are presented when the control system is able to guide the spacecraft to the desired attitude in a variety of different conditions

New space vector modulation algorithms applied to multilevel converters with balanced DC-link voltage

    Get PDF
This work presents a survey of new space vector modulation algorithms for high power voltage source multilevel converters. These techniques provide the nearest switching vectors sequence to the reference vector and calculates the on-state durations of the respective switching state vectors without involving trigonometric functions, look-up tables or coordinate system transformations which increase the computational load corresponding to the modulation of a multilevel converter. These algorithms drastically reduce the computational load maintained permitting the on-line computation of the switching sequence and the on-state durations of the respective switching state vectors. The on-state durations are reduced to a simple addition. In addition, the low computational cost of the proposed methods is always the same and it is independent of the number of levels of the converter. The algorithms have been satisfactorily implemented in very low-cost microcontrollers.Ministerio de Ciencia y Tecnología DPI 2001-308

This Special Issue brings together 13 papers that examine a variety of central topics in the field of international economics and finance. These papers were presented at the 23rd Conference on International Economics held in Málaga (Spain) on 16th–17th June 2022. The conference was organised by the Spanish Association of International Economics and Finance (AEEFI) and the University of Málaga. The selected papers make up an interesting and revealing set of information to study the new challenges of the international economics and finance in a context especially marked by the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis, the climate change, the challenge posed by the COVID-19 crisis and the instability unleashed after the invasion of Ukraine in 2022. From different perspectives, the papers analyse how events that have particularly affected the evolution of the world economy have substantially altered the rules of international trade, foreign direct investment, as well as monetary, fiscal or sectoral policy. The conference included two keynote lectures by Per Krusell (Institute for International Economic Studies, Stockholm University) and Fabio Canova (Norwegian Business School and Budapest School for Central Banking Studies), as well as 97 selected contributions

Communication Efficiency in Education: Increasing Emotions and Storytelling

    Get PDF
Over 1.200 questionnaires were given out to professionals in four institutions dedicated to persuasive communication; two traditional –the church and schools– and two more recently created – journalism and advertising. Probably they are the four groups with more socialising force in the last centuries; For this paper the educators’ responses were specifically analysed to determine their conception of the communication process and the requirements for effective communication, and these were compared with those from the other groups, especially from advertising professionals. Lastly, all the responses were compared to contributions from neuroscience that have been made in recent decades about how the human mind functions, particularly with regards to decision-making, to determine which communication proposals provide a greater guarantee of efficacy. The results indicate the need for educators to break away from a strictly cognitive polarized communication that focuses on transmission. They are more related with guaranteeing the supply than creating a demand, and open up to the communicative potential of emotions, interaction and storytellin
