    Is profitable to play in Spanish Soccer First Division?

    El artículo presenta la primera fase de un estudio del fútbol español, cuyo objetivo es averiguar si es rentable jugar en Primera División de fútbol (1ª) para cualquier equipo profesional y si todos los clubes de 2ªA deberían aspirar al ascenso. Se comparan resultados en la población seleccionada y en dos grupos de la misma: equipos que se han mantenido en 1ª y equipos ascensor. Se examinan mediante análisis exploratorio de datos resultados económicos y deportivos, se identifican factores que influyen en su variación y se clasifican los clubes según dichos factores. También se determina la influencia de ascensos y descensos en los resultados. Se deduce que los equipos ascensor obtienen peores resultados aun jugando en la misma liga. Además, a su estabilidad económico financiera le afecta más el ascenso y descenso continuo que el mantenerse en una categoría concreta. Finalmente, que la “gestión del miedo” no siempre conduce a una mejor clasificación y añade tensión financiera. Se concluye que no a todos los clubes les conviene militar en 1ª división de fútbol, que ésta debe reestructurarse y se debe reforzar la 2ªAThe paper presents the first phase of a Spanish football study. The aim is to determine if it is profitable to play in 1ª D league for any professional team and if all clubs in 2ª A division should aspire to climb. Various results are compared in the selected population and also in two groups identified: equipment that have remained in 1ªD and “elevator teams”. The economics and sports results are examined by exploratory data analysis. We identify factors that are influence in change and the teams are classified according to these factors. Finally the influence of promotion and relegation in these results is determined. It follows that the "Fear Management" doesn’t always lead to better classification and adds financial stress, “elevator equipment” that perform worse even playing in the same league and its economic and financial stability will most affect the rise and decline that continued the stay in a particular category. We conclude: not all clubs suit them military in 1ª, it would be to restructure and strengthen the 2ª

    Effect of remote ischaemic conditioning on clinical outcomes in patients with acute myocardial infarction (CONDI-2/ERIC-PPCI): a single-blind randomised controlled trial.

    BACKGROUND: Remote ischaemic conditioning with transient ischaemia and reperfusion applied to the arm has been shown to reduce myocardial infarct size in patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI). We investigated whether remote ischaemic conditioning could reduce the incidence of cardiac death and hospitalisation for heart failure at 12 months. METHODS: We did an international investigator-initiated, prospective, single-blind, randomised controlled trial (CONDI-2/ERIC-PPCI) at 33 centres across the UK, Denmark, Spain, and Serbia. Patients (age >18 years) with suspected STEMI and who were eligible for PPCI were randomly allocated (1:1, stratified by centre with a permuted block method) to receive standard treatment (including a sham simulated remote ischaemic conditioning intervention at UK sites only) or remote ischaemic conditioning treatment (intermittent ischaemia and reperfusion applied to the arm through four cycles of 5-min inflation and 5-min deflation of an automated cuff device) before PPCI. Investigators responsible for data collection and outcome assessment were masked to treatment allocation. The primary combined endpoint was cardiac death or hospitalisation for heart failure at 12 months in the intention-to-treat population. This trial is registered with ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT02342522) and is completed. FINDINGS: Between Nov 6, 2013, and March 31, 2018, 5401 patients were randomly allocated to either the control group (n=2701) or the remote ischaemic conditioning group (n=2700). After exclusion of patients upon hospital arrival or loss to follow-up, 2569 patients in the control group and 2546 in the intervention group were included in the intention-to-treat analysis. At 12 months post-PPCI, the Kaplan-Meier-estimated frequencies of cardiac death or hospitalisation for heart failure (the primary endpoint) were 220 (8·6%) patients in the control group and 239 (9·4%) in the remote ischaemic conditioning group (hazard ratio 1·10 [95% CI 0·91-1·32], p=0·32 for intervention versus control). No important unexpected adverse events or side effects of remote ischaemic conditioning were observed. INTERPRETATION: Remote ischaemic conditioning does not improve clinical outcomes (cardiac death or hospitalisation for heart failure) at 12 months in patients with STEMI undergoing PPCI.     Análisis estadístico de materiales líticos paleolíticos: «la Cueva de la Cantera» (Alcedo, León)

    In this paper we study three groups of lithic materials from the site of «Cueva de la Cantera» (Alcedo, León), which have been assigned for many years to three stages of the Upper Palaeolithic: Aurignacian, Magdalenian and Azilian. The statistical analyses of Homogeneity, Correspondence and Distance applied to technological data of the butts and the blanks seems to demonstrate that this triple classification does not hold. As an alternative, we propose the allocation of the materials to a single group corresponding to the Final Upper Palaeolithic.En este artículo estudiamos tres grupos de materiales líticos procedentes del yacimiento de la «Cueva de la Cantera» (Alcedo, León) que han sido adscritos, durante muchos años, a tres etapas del Paleolítico Superior: Auriñaciense, Magdaleniense y Aziliense. Los análisis estadísticos de Homogeneidad, Correspondencias y Distancia, aplicados a los datos tecnológicos de los talones y soportes de los tres grupos, parecen demostrar que esta triple clasificación no se mantiene. Ofrecemos como alternativa la asignación de las piezas a un único grupo correspondiente al Paleolítico Superior Final

The levels of GLP-1 within the brain have been related to the activity of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, and hence, this peptide might mediate some responses to stress. Nevertheless, there is little information regarding the effects of circulating GLP-1 on the neuroendocrine control of HPA activity. Here, we have studied the response of corticoadrenal steroids to the peripheral administration of GLP-1 (7-36)-amide and related peptides [exendin (Ex)-3, Ex-4, and Ex-4(3-39)] in rats, mice, and humans. GLP-1 increases circulating corticosterone levels in a time-dependent manner, both in conscious and anaesthetized rats, and it has also increased aldosterone levels. Moreover, GLP-1 augmented cortisol levels in healthy subjects and diabetes mellitus (DM)-1 patients. The effects of GLP-1/Ex-4 on the HPA axis are very consistent after distinct means of administration (intracerebroventricular, iv, and ip), irrespective of the metabolic state of the animals (fasting or fed ad libitum), and they were reproduced by different peptides in this family, independent of glycaemic changes and their insulinotropic properties. Indeed, these effects were also observed in diabetic subjects (DM-1 patients) and in the DM-1 streptozotocin-rat or DM-2 muscle IGF-I receptor-lysine-arginine transgenic mouse animal models. The mechanisms whereby circulating GLP-1 activates the HPA axis remain to be elucidated, although an increase in ACTH after Ex-4 and GLP-1 administration implicates the central nervous system or a direct effect on the pituitary.
