Skipping syntactically illegal the previews: the role of predictability.
Readers tend to skip words, particularly when they are short, frequent, or predictable. Angele and Rayner (2013) recently reported that readers are often unable to detect syntactic anomalies in parafoveal vision. In the present study, we manipulated target word predictability to assess whether contextual constraint modulates the-skipping behavior. The results provide further evidence that readers frequently skip the article the when infelicitous in context. Readers skipped predictable words more often than unpredictable words, even when the, which was syntactically illegal and unpredictable from the prior context, was presented as a parafoveal preview. The results of the experiment were simulated using E-Z Reader 10 by assuming that cloze probability can be dissociated from parafoveal visual input. It appears that when a short word is predictable in context, a decision to skip it can be made even if the information available parafoveally conflicts both visually and syntactically with those predictions. QCD String as Vortex String in Seiberg-Dual Theory
We construct a classical vortex string solution in a Seiberg-dual theory of
N=1 supersymmetric SO(N_c) QCD which flows to a confining phase. We claim that
this vortex string is a QCD string, as previouly argued by M.Strassler. In
SO(N_c) QCD, it is known that stable QCD strings exist even in the presence of
dynamical quarks. We show that our vortex strings are stable in the

DNA methylation loss promotes immune evasion of tumours with high mutation and copy number load
Mitotic cell division increases tumour mutation burden and copy number load, predictive markers of the clinical benefit of immunotherapy. Cell division correlates also with genomic demethylation involving methylation loss in late-replicating partial methylation domains. Here we find that immunomodulatory pathway genes are concentrated in these domains and transcriptionally repressed in demethylated tumours with CpG island promoter hypermethylation. Global methylation loss correlated with immune evasion signatures independently of mutation burden and aneuploidy. Methylome data of our cohort (n = 60) and a published cohort (n = 81) in lung cancer and a melanoma cohort (n = 40) consistently demonstrated that genomic methylation alterations counteract the contribution of high mutation burden and increase immunotherapeutic resistance. Higher predictive power was observed for methylation loss than mutation burden. We also found that genomic hypomethylation correlates with the immune escape signatures of aneuploid tumours. Hence, DNA methylation alterations implicate epigenetic modulation in precision immunotherapy
Thermoelectric power of MgBBe
We investigated thermoelectric power of MgBBe (,
0.2, 0.3, 0.4, and 0.6). decreases systematically with , suggesting
that the hole density increases. Our band calculation shows that the increase
occurs in the -band. With the hole-doping, decreases.
Implication of this phenomenon is discussed within the BCS framework. While the
Mott formula explains only the linear part of at low temperature,
incorporation of electron-phonon interaction enables us to explain over

Constitutive modeling of deformation behavior of high-entropy alloys with face-centered cubic crystal structure
A constitutive model based on the dislocation glide and deformation twinning is adapted to face-centered cubic high-entropy alloys (HEAs) as exemplified by the CrMnFeCoNi system. In this model, the total dislocation density is considered as the only internal variable, while the evolution equation describing its variation during plastic deformation is governed by the volume fraction of twinned material. The suitability of the model for describing the strain hardening behavior of HEAs was verified experimentally through compression tests on alloy CrMnFeCoNi and its microstructure characterization by electron backscatter diffraction and X-ray diffraction using synchrotron radiation. ? 2017 The Author(s). Review of AdS/CFT Integrability, Chapter III.2: Exact world-sheet S-matrix
We review the derivation of the S-matrix for planar N=4 supersymmetric
Yang-Mills theory and type IIB superstring theory on an AdS5xS5 background.
After deriving the S-matrix for the su(2) and su(3) sectors at the one-loop
level based on coordinate Bethe ansatz, we show how su(2|2) symmetry leads to
the exact asymptotic S-matrix up to an overall scalar function. We then briefly
review the spectrum of bound states by relating these states to simple poles of
the S-matrix. Finally, we review the derivation of the asymptotic Bethe
equations, which can be used to determine the asymptotic multiparticle

Z(3) Flavor Symmetry and Possible Implications
We show in this paper that the Z(3) flavor symmetry, which can successfully
produce the tri-bimaximal mixing and flavor pattern of neutrino sector, has a
possible explanation in the framework of gauge symmetry by constructing a
wavefunction of flavor state particles with the help of the Wilson loop. In
this implementation of Z(3) flavor symmetry, we suggest that the flavor charge
in weak interaction can be interpreted as a topological charge. Its possible

Novel Weak Decays in Doubly Strange Systems
The strangeness-changing () weak baryon-baryon interaction is
studied through the nonmesonic weak decay of double- hypernuclei.
Besides the usual nucleon-induced decay we discuss novel
hyperon-induced decay modes and . These reactions provide unique access to the exotic
K and K vertices which place new constraints
on Chiral Pertubation Theory (PT) in the weak SU(3) sector. Within a
meson-exchange framework, we use the pseudoscalar octet for the
long-range part while parametrizing the short-range part through the vector
mesons . Realistic baryon-baryon forces for the and
-2 sectors account for the strong interaction in the initial and final states.
For He the new hyperon-induced decay modes account for up
to 4% of the total nonmesonic decay rate. Predictions are made for all possible
