Deep Learning Techniques to Improve the Performance of Olive Oil Classification

The olive oil assessment involves the use of a standardized sensory analysis according to the “panel test” method. However, there is an important interest to design novel strategies based on the use of Gas Chromatography (GC) coupled to mass spectrometry (MS), or ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) together with a chemometric data treatment for olive oil classification. It is an essential task in an attempt to get the most robust model over time and, both to avoid fraud in the price and to know whether it is suitable for consumption or not. The aim of this paper is to combine chemical techniques and Deep Learning approaches to automatically classify olive oil samples from two different harvests in their three corresponding classes: extra virgin olive oil (EVOO), virgin olive oil (VOO), and lampante olive oil (LOO). Our Deep Learning model is built with 701 samples, which were obtained from two olive oil campaigns (2014–2015 and 2015–2016). The data from the two harvests are built from the selection of specific olive oil markers from the whole spectral fingerprint obtained with GC-IMS method. In order to obtain the best results we have configured the parameters of our model according to the nature of the data. The results obtained show that a deep learning approach applied to data obtained from chemical instrumental techniques is a good method when classifying oil samples in their corresponding categories, with higher success rates than those obtained in previous works.Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad TIN2017-88209-C2-2-

La cooperación internacional iberoamericana : Caso: Programa cultural ibermedia en el marco de la Secretaría General Iberoamericana, año 2016

En la presente investigación nos enfocaremos en analizar de qué manera se aplicó el Programa Cultural Ibermedia, como herramienta de cooperación, centrándonos en el período que corresponde al año 2016, ya que en este año se cumplían 18 años desde que inició este programa. A lo largo del trabajo, identificamos cuáles fueron los ejes de cooperación internacional de la Secretaría General Iberoamericana, para promover la cultura en el año 2016, ya que es en su seno donde se inscribe Ibermedia. Así como también describiremos la estrategia de cooperación de dicho período que se utilizó ya en el programa propiamente dicho. Por último, analizaremos el alcance de este como mecanismo de cooperación. Se hará hincapié en lo que conlleva esa dimensión cultural en las relaciones internacionales, apoyándonos en los aportes de autores como Joseph Nye, hablaremos de lo que es el poder blando; sumándose a él tendremos a Tahína Ojeda Medina, para hablar de cooperación Internacional, más específicamente de la modalidad sur - sur, y para tener más precisión nos valdremos de Luis Enrique Velasco, de quién obtendremos una introducción sobre la importancia del cine. In this research we will focus on analyzing how the Ibermedia Cultural Program was applied, as a tool for cooperation, focusing on the period that corresponds to the year 2016, since this year marked 18 years since this program began. Throughout the work, we will identify which were the axis of international cooperation of the Ibero-American General Secretariat, to promote culture in 2016, since it is where Ibermedia is registered. We will also describe the cooperation strategy of that period that was already used in the program itself. Finally, we will analyze the scope of this as a cooperation mechanism. A Digitally Programmable Analog Quadrature Sine Oscillator for on-chip Lock-In Measurement Systems

This paper presents a CMOS 1.8V-180nm analog quadrature sine oscillator. Thanks to a custom 12-bit bidirectional DAC-based architecture, the frequency can be digitally programmed over two decades with high accuracy, making it suitable as the actuation system in low-cost high-performance embedded lock-in measurement systems

Desde siempre, la música ha estado estrechamente unida a la sociedad en la que se encontraba inmersa. Su vinculación con una cultura determinada, ha ocasionado que esté influenciada por las características sociales, económicas, políticas… de un determinado momento. Precisamente, es en la letra de las canciones tradicionales, transmitidas oralmente, dónde podemos encontrar los rasgos más característicos de una forma concreta de “ver el mundo”. Análisis de los rasgos físicos de los personajes que aparecen en las canciones tradicionales desde una visión coeducativa

Las canciones tradicionales son una fuente de conocimiento de la cultura de una época concreta, pues en ella se muestran creencias, pensamientos, opiniones, valores, sensaciones, normas... Precisamente es en el texto donde se encuentran muestras del tratamiento diferente y discriminatorio que las mujeres han experimentado a lo largo de la historia con respecto a los hombres, encasillando a las personas en unos estereotipos de género concretos. Este artículo refleja la descripción física de los personajes de las canciones, mostrando así las diferencias existentes dependiendo del sexo. Para ello, esta investigación parte de un total de setenta y cinco canciones del Cancionero infantil de la provincia de Huelva, realizado por Francisco José García Gallardo y Herminia Arredondo Pérez (1995), en las que se comprueba cómo existe un tratamiento diferente dependiendo del género de los personajes que aparecen en el texto de las canciones.«Analysis of the physical traits of the characters that appear in the traditional songs from a co-educational vision». The traditional songs are a source of knowledge of the culture of a particular time, because it shows beliefs, thoughts, opinions, values, feelings, rules... It is precisely in the text are examples of different and discriminatory treatment that women have experienced throughout history with respect to men, pigeonholing people into specific gender stereotypes. This article reflects the physical description of the characters in the songs, showing differences depending on sex. To that end, this research is part of a total of seventy-five songs from the songbook child in the province of Huelva, by Francisco José García Gallardo y Herminia Arredondo Pérez (1995), in which it is shown how there is a different treatment depending on the gender of the characters that appear in the text of the songs

Strengthening reading comprehension in students in grades 3, 4, and 5 of the Educational Institution Colegio Algelino Durán Quintero, Balsamina headquarters, Escuela Nueva model in the municipality of Sardinata, Norte de Santander

El presente proyecto de investigación tuvo como objetivo fortalecer la comprensión lectora de los estudiantes de la Sede Balsamina Modelo Escuela Nueva de la Institución Educativa Colegio Argelino Durán Quintero del Municipio Sardinata, Norte de Santander. La metodología correspondió al enfoque cualitativo y método de investigación – acción, trabajando con 16 estudiantes que cursan los grados 3º, 4º y 5º; se utilizaron dos instrumentos para la recolección de la información: el diario pedagógico como registro de datos de la observación y las pruebas de caracterización de la lectura diseñadas por el Ministerio de Educación Nacional que sirvieron como diagnóstico inicial y prueba final de los resultados de la implementación de la propuesta pedagógica que constó de 30 talleres. Los hallazgos evidenciaron un carente desarrollo de la comprensión lectora así como un escaso nivel de calidad y velocidad de la lectura al comienzo del proceso, situación que mejoró con los talleres didácticos pues éstos permitieron a los estudiantes afianzar sus habilidades para leer y analizar diferentes tipos de textos. El proyecto concluye que la estructuración de los talleres así como su diseño didáctico influye positivamente en la motivación estudiantil, facilitando el proceso comprensión, lo cual hace parte de una práctica pedagógica que posibilita crear ambientes de aula de interés hacia la lectura.Capítulo I. The methodology corresponded to the qualitative approach and method of research - action, working with 16 students attending grades 3 rd, 4 th and 5 th; two instruments were used for the collection of the information: pedagogic journal as log data of observation and characterization of reading tests designed by the Ministry of national education which served as initial diagnosis and final testing of the results of the implementation of the pedagogical proposal which consisted of 30 workshops. The findings showed a lacking development of reading comprehension as well as a low level of quality and reading speed at the beginning of the process, a situation which improved with educational workshops as they allowed students to strengthen their ability to read and analyze different types of texts. The project concludes that the structuring of the workshops as well as its didactic design has a positive impact on student motivation, easing the process of understanding, which makes part of a pedagogical practice that makes it possible to create classroom environments of interest in reading

Cuándo, por qué y para qué la eduación intercultural. Discursos y praxis de la educación intercultural

El artículo analiza, desde una perspectiva antropológica, la experiencia en la coordinación de un proyecto europeo sobre educación intercultural, titulado CLIEC (Cooperative Learning in European Contexts). Las reflexiones que aquí presentamos sobre las distintas actuaciones realizadas en el marco de dicho proyecto tienen por objeto sistematizar, por una parte, las distintas intenciones y actividades propuestas, y, por otra, contribuir al debate teórico actual sobre cómo se está construyendo y gestionando la noción de interculturalidad dentro del ámbito educativo. Para ello, hemos dedicado un especial interés al cuestionamiento y a la reformulación de los principios que hasta ahora vienen presidiendo la intervención sobre educación intercultural en el contexto español. De este modo, las autoras se sirven del análisis de los discursos y de las prácticas definidas como de interculturalidad para interrogarse sobre el cuándo, el porqué y el para qué de la educación intercultural en las aulas.This article analyse, from an anthropological perspective, the coordination experience of an European project on intercultural education titled CLIEC (Cooperative Learning in European Contexts). The thoughts we are putting forward here related on the different actions realized in this project have the object of, on the one hand, systematizing the diverse motives and activities proposed. Consumption, liquidity and the cross-sectional variation of expected returns

Recent papers in asset pricing have added a market-wide liquidity factor to traditional portfolio-based or factor models. However, none of these papers has reported any evidence on how aggregate liquidity behaves together with consumption growth risk. This paper covers this gap by providing a comprehensive analysis of the cross-sectional variation of average returns under ultimate consumption risk and market-wide illiquidity shocks. It derives closed-form expressions for consumption-based stochastic discount factors adjusted by aggregate illiquidity shocks and tests alternative model specifications. We find that market-wide illiquidity risk seems to be especially useful in explaining the size-based cross-sectional differences of average returns. We also find a strongly negative and highly significant illiquidity risk premium under recursive preferences for the first quarter of the year suggesting a time-varying behaviour of the market-wide illiquidity premium.stochastic discount factor, ultimate consumption risk, market-wide liquidity, illiquidity premium seasonality.

A Digitally Programmable Active-RC Filter for On-Chip Portable Sensor Applications

An enhanced digital tuning approach for RC-active circuits is presented. Simulations of a 12-bit CMOS second-order filter provide a 11.46-bit effective resolution to linearly control the frequency over three decades with THD<-70 dB. Its low power, 0.5 mW, and low active area, 0.087 mm2, prove its suitability for on-chip sensing systems
