Impact of practical challenges on the implementation of data-driven services for building operation: Insights from a real-life case study
Data-driven applications in buildings using AI and machine learning have generated a lot of interest, but scaling these applications is challenging due to the uniqueness of each building. During the process of implementing a data-driven predictive heating control in a full-scale real-life office building in Norway, 24 practical challenges were encountered. In this work, those practical challenges are presented, discussed and attributed to four main categories: i) physical limitations, ii) data acquisition and communication, iii) data and model definition and iv) building occupants. Detailed examples for the challenges are provided and more than 15 lessons-learned with regards to developing and implementing data-driven services for building operation are presented. Furthermore, this work discusses how the practical challenges impact the choice of a data-driven approach to control the operation of an office building heating system in a predictive manner and how the practical challenges influence the creation of variation in the measurement data needed to identify a model during normal building operation. Finally, it is shown that a substantial number of practical challenges that were encountered during the operational phase are rooted in the design and construction phase of a building project or from rehabilitation during the operational phase. This highlights the fact that the possible use of data-driven services for building operation should be considered during the tendering and design phase to minimize the number of challenges regarding the widespread implementation of data-driven services for building operation, especially regarding predictive

Psychosocial aspects of entrepreneurial potential
This study presents a theoretical model regarding the entrepreneurial potential
construct, and the main psychosocial aspects that contribute towards an individual’s
preparedness to engage in activities typically associated with entrepreneurship. The
general question addressed in this study is: How to explain the entrepreneurial
potential construct theoretically, and how to assess it empirically? This study seeks
to contribute by creating an instrument (the EPAI – Entrepreneurial Potential
Assessment Inventory) that can be used to measure the entrepreneurial potential
construct. In this paper we present four studies on its empirical validation. The results
suggest reliable scale characteristics, convergent and discriminant validity. The EPAI
can be used by an entrepreneur for self-assessment, for training, and for professional

An Optimisation Algorithm to Establish the Location of Stations of a Mixed Fleet Biking System: An Application to the City of Lisbon
AbstractThis paper presents the design and deployment of a bike-sharing system developed for Lisbon. The design of this new service is performed through an heuristic, encompassing a Mixed Integer Linear Program (MILP), that simultaneously optimise the location of shared biking stations, the fleet dimension and measuring the bicycle relocation activities required in a regular operation day. The results obtained for the several tested scenarios provided better insights into knowing how to improve the design and operation of these systems
Techno-economic assessment of a Synechocystis based biorefinery through process optimization
UID/EQU/00511/2019 "LEPABE-2-ECOINNOVATION"-NORTE-01-0145-FEDER-000005.Similar to oil, biological origin feedstock can be converted into a number of products allowing to recover the maximum value from the raw biological material, within what is nowadays called a biorefinery. Among other biological materials, microalgae are a very interesting biomass due to the high economic value of certain cellular components, such as carotenoids and polyunsaturated fatty acids. In this project, a genetically modified cyanobacteria, that produces ethanol as an extracellular product, was used as the basis of this study. In order to assess the optimal configuration of the biorefinery, different scenarios were designed, each one with different sequences of unit operations, equipment and products. With the design stage completed, an economic analysis was performed to choose the 2 scenarios with the best economic performance.publishersversionpublishe
A description of the first zoeal stage of Pilumnus vinaceus A. Milne-Edwards, 1880 (Decapoda, Pilumnidae), with a revision of the first zoea morphology of Pilumnus Leach, 1815
The morphology of the first zoeal stage of Pilumnus vinaceus is described and compared with the zoea I of Pilumnus all species in the literature. Two ovigerous females of P. vinaceus were maintained in the aquarium facilities until the larvae hatch. The larvae of each ovigerous female were dissected using a stereoscopic microscope. The zoea I of P. vinaceus has common characteristics among the Pilumnidae as: [1] antenna of type 2; [2] maxilliped 1 with 2+2+3+3 setae on the basis and with 3,2,1,2,5 setae in the endopod; [3] maxilliped 2 with 1+1+1+1 setae on the basis and 1,1,6 setae on the endopod; [4] telson with furcal rami armed with dorsal and lateral spines. Considering the species of Pilumnus that occur in the western Atlantic, it becomes possible to identify P. vinaceus zoea I by means of the verification of the following characteristics: [1] pleonites with mediolateral processes; [2] number of setae on the antennule. It is however, important to consider that there is still a great deficit in the knowledge about the morphology of the larval forms of the species assigned to Pilumnus and we argue in favor of new descriptions to build a more robust dataset on zoeal morphology characters and use it in a phylogenetic context on the genus
Os Refugiados no Brasil e as Organizações não Governamentais
In this century the flow of refugees and immigrants will become the central issue to International Human Rights Law. Brazil, that recently started to receive a larger flow of refugees, is an important option for them due to its benevolent legislation. However, the Brazilian State is still reluctant concerning the impact of the newly arrived refugees that enter the country without receiving subsequent support. This deductive research, in the historical type, intends to analyze the pioneer role of human rights NGOs responsible for informing and supporting the refugees, offering visibility to the theme.
