The solution to the problem of excitation of longitudinal and transverse electromagnetic waves in randomly inhomogeneous media is reduced to the derivation of a complex effective dielectric constant (EDC) tensor which nonlocally connects together the average macroscopic electromagnetic fields in continuous media, it is implied that the field values which are rapidly fluctuating on a microscopic scale in space and time become smoothed out in a specified way due to the inhomogeneous mixing of diffusion. Proceedings from the derived general expression for the EDC tensor new modes of longitudinal and transverse electromagnetic wave generation due to fluctuation in the parameters of the medium was predicted. In this connection, it is of interest to investigate the peculiarities of electromagnetic longitudinal and transverse wave propagation in such randomly inhomogeneous media where, apart from the charged particle concentration change, the random spatial and temporal changes of natural frequency of closely located oscillators take place

This article presents a systematic review of the scientific literature related to the study of the Booktuber community (young readers who comment and review books on YouTube) documented since 2009. The corpus is composed of 43 publications, which are analyzed in two categories: a) approaches to the study of Booktubers from different disciplinary perspectives and research methodologies, and b) didactic applications that have emerged from these practices. The analysis shows the development phases of this field of research, and how it has been structured around certain topics of interest, perspectives and methodologies. In addition, we reflect on the need to deepen the discursive analysis and the inclusion of participatory research with the Booktubers themselves to improve the understanding of the phenomenon and its didactic application within the classrooms

An index based road feature extraction from LANDSAT-8 OLI images

    Get PDF
Road feature extraction from the remote sensing images is an arduous task and has a significant role in various applications of urban planning, updating the maps, traffic management, etc. In this paper, a new band combination (B652) to form a road index (RI) from OLI multispectral bands based on the spectral reflectance of asphalt, is presented for road feature extraction. The B652 is converted to road index by normalization. The morphological operators (top-hat or bottom-hat) uses on RI to enhance the roads. To sharpen the edges and for better discrimination of features, shock square filter (SSF), is proposed. Then, an iterative adaptive threshold (IAT) based online search with variational min-max and Markov random fields (MRF) model are used on the SSF image to segment the roads and non-roads. The roads are extracting by using the rules based on the connected component analysis. IAT and MRF model segmentation methods prove the proposed index (RI) able to extract road features productively. The proposed methodology is a combination of saturation based adaptive thresholding and morphology (SATM), and saturation based MRF (SMRF), applied to OLI images of several urban cities of India, producing the satisfactory results. The experimental results with the quantitative analysis presented in the paper

Distributed generation and smart grids are the reality of an efficient electricity grid, at work an analysis of the advantages that distinguish both concepts related to the scenario generation, transportation, distribution and supply of energy is provided. Some results achieved in the related study of the solar potential and wind energy, focused on the use of these resources will improve in quality future university exposed electrical service. The main elements that have been considered to be incorporated in the roadmap for the introduction of smart grids in Ecuador expose

Impact of farmer producer organization on organic chilli production in Telangana, India

    Get PDF
33-43Input intensive modern agriculture is adversely affecting human health and environment. Farmers of Telangana state have taken up organic chilli production with the assistance of FPOs. Primary data was collected from 120 farmers comprising 60 members and 60 non-members of FPO from two districts of Telangana through semi-structured interviews. The study found that the shift to organic chilli cultivation led to decrease in input use by 9.06% and yield by 23.4%. However, the gross return from organic chilli farming was 13.85% higher over that realised by non-members due to the efforts of FPOs. DEA analysis revealed that a higher proportion of member farmers (48%) had technical efficiency of more than 60% as compared to non-members (18%). FPOs were instrumental in reduction of transaction cost and number of intermediaries leading to the realization of a higher proportion of producer’s share in consumer’s rupee (65%). Discriminant function analysis revealed that the FPO promoting institutions (44%), ease of doing business (16%) and infrastructure facilities like storage, irrigation, electricity and credit have high influence on performance of the states with respect to FPOs

A Proof-of-Concept IoT System for Remote Healthcare Based on Interoperability Standards

[EN] The Internet of Things paradigm in healthcare has boosted the design of new solutions for the promotion of healthy lifestyles and the remote care. Thanks to the effort of academia and industry, there is a wide variety of platforms, systems and commercial products enabling the real-time information exchange of environmental data and people's health status. However, one of the problems of these type of prototypes and solutions is the lack of interoperability and the compromised scalability in large scenarios, which limits its potential to be deployed in real cases of application. In this paper, we propose a health monitoring system based on the integration of rapid prototyping hardware and interoperable software to build system capable of transmitting biomedical data to healthcare professionals. The proposed system involves Internet of Things technologies and interoperablility standards for health information exchange such as the Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources and a reference framework architecture for Ambient Assisted Living UniversAAL.This research received no external funding.
