    Sacred communication: Exploring the attributes of health promotion programs in the faith-based media

    Cultural sensitivity is a widely accepted principle among health behaviour and health communication researcher. However, studies that focus on faith-based health communication in particular on Islamic perspective or practices are rare. In contrast, the emergent and increasing of faith based media or communication institutions have significantly marked a growing interest to understand health promotion from cultural sensitivity such as Islamic communication. Thus, based on present study of 13 health promotion programs broadcasted by an Islamic radio station in Malaysia, this paper explored the attributes and practices of the faith based media in promoting health. The 390 minutes length of data was examined by employing thematic analysis using qualitative analysis software-NVivo version 8. In particular, this paper has three objectives: (i) briefly discuss the values and characteristics that formulate Islamic communication in health promotion; (ii) examine the characteristics of Islamic health promotion; and (iii) pointing out the potential and challenges of Islamic health communication in Malaysia. The insight of this paper may contribute to the understanding of Islamic communication in media and its impact for social change agenda such as on health promotion to Muslim community. These findings may also contribute to further development of health promotion strategy for Muslim communities in Islamic nation or non-Islamic nation

    A Long Baseline Neutrino Oscillation Experiment Using J-PARC Neutrino Beam and Hyper-Kamiokande

One of the main goals of Hyper-Kamiokande is the study of CPCP asymmetry in the lepton sector using accelerator neutrino and anti-neutrino beams. In this document, the physics potential of a long baseline neutrino experiment using the Hyper-Kamiokande detector and a neutrino beam from the J-PARC proton synchrotron is presented. The analysis has been updated from the previous Letter of Intent [K. Abe et al., arXiv:1109.3262 [hep-ex]], based on the experience gained from the ongoing T2K experiment. With a total exposure of 7.5 MW ×\times 107^7 sec integrated proton beam power (corresponding to 1.56×10221.56\times10^{22} protons on target with a 30 GeV proton beam) to a 2.52.5-degree off-axis neutrino beam produced by the J-PARC proton synchrotron, it is expected that the CPCP phase ÎŽCP\delta_{CP} can be determined to better than 19 degrees for all possible values of ÎŽCP\delta_{CP}, and CPCP violation can be established with a statistical significance of more than 3 σ3\,\sigma (5 σ5\,\sigma) for 7676% (5858%) of the ÎŽCP\delta_{CP} parameter space

    The T2K experiment studies oscillations of an off-axis muon neutrino beam between the J-PARC accelerator complex and the Super-Kamiokande detector. Special emphasis is placed on measuring the mixing angle Ξ 13 by observing Îœ e appearance via the sub-dominant ΜΌ Îœ e oscillation and searching for CP violation in the lepton sector. The experiment includes a sophisticated, off-axis, near detector, the ND280, situated 280 m downstream of the neutrino production target in order to measure the properties of the neutrino beam and to understand better neutrino interactions at the energy scale below a few GeV. The data collected with the ND280 are used to study charged- and neutral-current neutrino interaction rates and kinematics prior to oscillation, in order to reduce uncertainties in the oscillation measurements by the far detector. A key element of the near detector is the ND280 electromagnetic calorimeter (ECal), consisting of active scintillator bars sandwiched between lead sheets and read out with multi-pixel photon counters (MPPCs). The ECal is vital to the reconstruction of neutral particles, and the identification of charged particle species. The ECal surrounds the Pi-0 detector (PØD) and the tracking region of the ND280, and is enclosed in the former UA1/NOMAD dipole magnet. This paper describes the design, construction and assembly of the ECal, as well as the materials from which it is composed. The electronic and data acquisition (DAQ) systems are discussed, and performance of the ECal modules, as deduced from measurements with particle beams, cosmic rays, the calibration system, and T2K data, is described.© 2013 IOP Publishing Ltd and Sissa Medialab srl.The ECal detector has been built and is operated using funds provided by the Science and Technology Facilities Council U.K. Important support was also provided by the collaborating institutions.
