Intergrowth and thermoelectric properties in the Bi-Ca-Co-O system
Single crystals of the Bi-Ca-Co-O system have been grown using the flux
method with cooling from 900\celsius and 950\celsius, respectively. The
single crystals are characterized by transmission electron microscopy and X-ray
diffraction. The misfit cobaltite
[CaBiCoO][CoO] single crystals with
quadruple (=4) rocksalt (RS) layer are achieved with cooling from
900\celsius. Such crystal exhibits room-temperature thermoelectric power
(TEP) of 180V/K, much larger than that in Sr-based misfit cobaltites with
quadruple RS layer. However, intergrowth of single crystals of quadruple
(=4) and triple (=3) RS-type layer-based misfit cobaltites is observed
with cooling from 950\celsius. Both of TEP and resistivity were obviously
enhanced by the intergrowth compared to
[CaBiCoO][CoO] single crystal,

The recently-observed decay is expected to proceed
mainly by means of a tree amplitude in the factorization limit: , . Under this assumption, we predict the
corresponding contribution of the tree amplitude to . We
indicate the needed improvements in data that will allow a useful estimate of
this amplitude with errors comparable to those accompanying other methods.
Since the factorization hypothesis for this process goes beyond that proved in

Some Issues in a Gauge Model of Unparticles
We address in a recent gauge model of unparticles the issues that are
important for consistency of a gauge theory, i.e., unitarity and Ward identity
of physical amplitudes. We find that non-integrable singularities arise in
physical quantities like cross section and decay rate from gauge interactions
of unparticles. We also show that Ward identity is violated due to the lack of
a dispersion relation for charged unparticles although the Ward-Takahashi
identity for general Green functions is incorporated in the model. A previous
observation that the unparticle's (with scaling dimension d) contribution to
the gauge boson self-energy is a factor (2-d) of the particle's has been
extended to the Green function of triple gauge bosons. This (2-d) rule may be
generally true for any point Green functions of gauge bosons. This implies that
the model would be trivial even as one that mimics certain dynamical effects on

Unraveling the Rich Fragmentation Dynamics Associated with S-H Bond Fission Following Photoexcitation of H <sub>2</sub>S at Wavelengths ∼129.1 nm
H2S is being detected in the atmospheres of ever more interstellar bodies, and photolysis is an important mechanism by which it is processed. Here, we report H Rydberg atom time-of-flight measurements following the excitation of H2S molecules to selected rotational (JKaKc′) levels of the 1B1 Rydberg state associated with the strong absorption feature at wavelengths of λ ∼ 129.1 nm. Analysis of the total kinetic energy release spectra derived from these data reveals that all levels predissociate to yield H atoms in conjunction with both SH(A) and SH(X) partners and that the primary SH(A)/SH(X) product branching ratio increases steeply with ⟨Jb2⟩, the square of the rotational angular momentum about the b-inertial axis in the excited state. These products arise via competing homogeneous (vibronic) and heterogeneous (Coriolis-induced) predissociation pathways that involve coupling to dissociative potential energy surfaces (PES(s)) of, respectively, 1A″ and 1A′ symmetries. The present data also show H + SH(A) product formation when exciting the JKaKc′ = 000 and 111 levels, for which ⟨Jb2⟩ = 0 and Coriolis coupling to the 1A′ PES(s) is symmetry forbidden, implying the operation of another, hitherto unrecognized, route to forming H + SH(A) products following excitation of H2S at energies above ∼9 eV. These data can be expected to stimulate future ab initio molecular dynamic studies that test, refine, and define the currently inferred predissociation pathways available to photoexcited H2S molecules
Charmless Two-body Baryonic B Decays
We study charmless two-body baryonic B decays in a diagramatic approach.
Relations on decay amplitudes are obtained. In general there are more than one
tree and more than one penguin amplitudes. The number of independent amplitudes
can be reduced in the large m_B limit. It leads to more predictive results.

Improved orthogonal array based simulated annealing for design optimization
Recent research shows that simulated annealing with orthogonal array based neighbourhood functions can help in the search for a solution to a parametrical problem which is closer to an optimum when compared with conventional simulated annealing. Previous studies of simulated annealing analyzed only the main effects of variables of parametrical problems. In fact, both main effects of variables and interactions between variables should be considered, since interactions between variables exist in many parametrical problems. In this paper, an improved orthogonal array based neighbourhood function (IONF) for simulated annealing with the consideration of interaction effects between variables is described. After solving a set of parametrical benchmark function problems where interaction effects between variables exist, results of the benchmark tests show that the proposed simulated annealing algorithm with the IONF outperforms significantly both the simulated annealing algorithms with the existing orthogonal array based neighbourhood functions and the standard neighbourhood functions. Finally, the improved orthogonal array based simulated annealing was applied on the optimization of emulsified dynamite packing-machine design by which the applicability of the algorithm in real world problems can be evaluated and its effectiveness can be further validated
X(3872) and Other Possible Heavy Molecular States
We perform a systematic study of the possible molecular states composed of a
pair of heavy mesons such as , , in
the framework of the meson exchange model. The exchanged mesons include the
pseudoscalar, scalar and vector mesons. Through our investigation, we find that
(1) the structure X(3764) is not a molecular state; (2) There exists strong
attraction in the range fm for the system with .
If future experiments confirm as a loosely bound molecular state,
its quantum number is probably . Its partner state may
be searched for in the channel; (3) The vector meson exchange
provides strong attraction in the channel together with the
pion exchange. A bound state solution exists with a reasonable cutoff parameter
GeV. X(3872) may be accommodated as a molecular state
dynamically although drawing a very definite conclusion needs further

Various correlations in a Heisenberg XXZ spin chain both in thermal equilibrium and under the intrinsic decoherence
In this paper we discuss various correlations measured by the concurrence
(C), classical correlation (CC), quantum discord (QD), and geometric measure of
discord (GMD) in a two-qubit Heisenberg XXZ spin chain in the presence of
external magnetic field and Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) anisotropic
antisymmetric interaction. Based on the analytically derived expressions for
the correlations for the cases of thermal equilibrium and the inclusion of
intrinsic decoherence, we discuss and compare the effects of various system
parameters on the correlations in different cases. The results show that the
anisotropy Jz is considerably crucial for the correlations in thermal
equilibrium at zero temperature limit but ineffective under the consideration
of the intrinsic decoherence, and these quantities decrease as temperature T
rises on the whole. Besides, J turned out to be constructive, but B be
detrimental in the manipulation and control of various quantities both in
thermal equilibrium and under the intrinsic decoherence which can be avoided by
tuning other system parameters, while D is constructive in thermal equilibrium,
but destructive in the case of intrinsic decoherence in general. In addition,
for the initial state , all
the correlations except the CC, exhibit a damping oscillation to a stable value
larger than zero following the time, while for the initial state , all the correlations monotonously
decrease, but CC still remains maximum. Moreover, there is not a definite
ordering of these quantities in thermal equilibrium, whereas there is a
descending order of the CC, C, GMD and QD under the intrinsic decoherence with
a nonnull B when the initial state is .Comment: 8 pages, 7 figure
Fungal diversity notes 1512-1610: taxonomic and phylogenetic contributions on genera and species of fungal taxa
This article is the 14th in the Fungal Diversity Notes series, wherein we report 98 taxa distributed in two phyla, seven classes, 26 orders and 50 families which are described and illustrated. Taxa in this study were collected from Australia, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Chile, China, Cyprus, Egypt, France, French Guiana, India, Indonesia, Italy, Laos, Mexico, Russia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam. There are 59 new taxa, 39 new hosts and new geographical distributions with one new combination. The 39 new records on hosts and geographical distribution comprise Apiospora guiyangensis, Aplosporella artocarpi, Ascochyta medicaginicola, Astrocystis bambusicola, Athelia rolfsii, Bambusicola bambusae, Bipolaris luttrellii, Botryosphaeria dothidea, Chlorophyllum squamulosum, Colletotrichum aeschynomenes, Colletotrichum pandanicola, Coprinopsis cinerea, Corylicola italica, Curvularia alcornii, Curvularia senegalensis, Diaporthe foeniculina, Diaporthe longicolla, Diaporthe phaseolorum, Diatrypella quercina, Fusarium brachygibbosum, Helicoma aquaticum, Lepiota metulispora, Lepiota pongduadensis, Lepiota subvenenata, Melanconiella meridionalis, Monotosporella erecta, Nodulosphaeria digitalis, Palmiascoma gregariascomum, Periconia byssoides, Periconia cortaderiae, Pleopunctum ellipsoideum, Psilocybe keralensis, Scedosporium apiospermum, Scedosporium dehoogii, Scedosporium marina, Spegazzinia deightonii, Torula fici, Wiesneriomyces laurinus and Xylaria venosula. All these taxa are supported by morphological and multigene phylogenetic analyses. This article allows the researchers to publish fungal collections which are important for future studies. An updated, accurate and timely report of fungus-host and fungus-geography is important. We also provide an updated list of fungal taxa published in the previous fungal diversity notes. In this list, erroneous taxa and synonyms are marked and corrected accordingly
