    Evaluation of Medical Officers' Certificate Programme (MOCP) Course Competency Based Learning

    Medical Officers' Certificate Programme (MOCP) is a 6 months training programme in Pediatrics/Medicine at Medical colleges wherein doctors work like postgraduate students, learn various OPD, IPD, (Out Patients and In Patient Department) procedures, attain hands on skills, perform day and night duties, attend postgraduate training programmes and specialty clinics. This is a course unique to Maharashtra. It has been designed to overcome shortage of Pediatrians & Physicians in the state. Public Health Dept deputed 28 Medical Officers of Primary Health Centers to various Medical Colleges. At the end of 6 months training course they were evaluated during 2012-2013.It was done by questionnaire used before and after training. It was observed that OPD increased by 24% and IPD by 54%. There was a decrease in the number of cases referred to tertiary centers by 24%, post MOCP training. Infant immunization increased by 35% after training. Number of children with severe acute malnutrition/moderate acute malnutrition treated increased by 22%, neonatal emergencies, resuscitation, sepsis, jaundice patients treated, increased by 36%. No of adults with diarrhoea and snake bite treated increased by 40% & 63% respectively. No. of ECGs taken and myocardial infarctions managed also has shown rising trend. Thus, there was tremendous benefit to the patients after MOCP training. Skill of doctors was found to have enhanced. It is therefore recommended that such novel trainings should be imparted in other states of India too

With this influx of population, the role and capacity of Chicago to provide sustainable transportation becomes essential. During the mid 1800s Chicago experienced the largest population growth in the world, starting with 4,000 inhabitants and growing to over 90,000 inhabitants by the end of the century. Since then, Chicago has reached a more stable population of 2.6 million people today. The transportation history of Chicago is linked to this population growth and has significantly shaped the city into its current social and ecological state (Cronon 1992, 97).     Reduction of sink marks in wire insert molded parts

    Integrating the huge wiring harness network with the plastic trim components found in the car is an attractive way to reduce the vehicle weight. When any foreign object is inserted in an injection molded part, the change in polymer cross section leads to sink marks which are aesthetic defects and are not acceptable for plastic trim components. In this thesis, a method to minimize or eliminate sink marks for wire insert molded component using injection molding process is presented. L9 Taguchi DOE experimental framework has been employed to study the effect of process parameters, part rib geometry, and the presence of wire itself on the sink mark formation. Sink depth is defined as the excess deflection in the surface profile which can be felt to hand. A descriptive simulation study is presented where process parameters namely, the mold temperature, the melt temperature, and the pack time are varied on different sets of rib geometry to observe the depth of a sink mark. The simulation results indicate that high mold temperature effectively minimizes the sink depth for all the rib geometries whereas the influence of melt temperature and pack time depends on the particular rib geometry. The results also testify that a proper combination of rib geometry and process parameters eliminates the sink mark

    Myopathology of Congenital Myopathies: Bridging the Old and the New

    Congenital myopathies (CM) are a genetically heterogeneous group of neuromuscular disorders most commonly presenting with neonatal/childhood-onset hypotonia and muscle weakness, a relatively static or slowly progressive disease course, and originally classified into subcategories based on characteristic histopathologic findings in muscle biopsies. This enduring concept of disease definition and classification based on the clinicopathologic phenotype was pioneered in the premolecular era. Advances in molecular genetics have brought into focus the increased blurring of the original seemingly ā€œwatertightā€ categories through broadening of the clinical phenotypes in existing genes, and continuous identification of novel genetic backgrounds. This review summarizes the histopathologic landscape of the 4 ā€œclassicalā€ subtypes of CMā€”nemaline myopathies, core myopathies, centronuclear myopathies, and congenital fiber type disproportion and some of the emerging and novel genetic diseases with a CM presentation
