Bases for the Matching Lattice of Matching Covered Graphs
This article contains a brief introduction to the theory of matching covered graphs: ear-decompositions, the matching lattice and the most important results of the theory. In its last section we prove that the matching lattice of any matching covered graph has a basis consisting solely of perfect matchings and we present a conjecture relating the minimum number of double ears of any eardecomposition of a matching covered graph and the number of bricks and bricks isomorphic to the Petersen graph in any brick decomposition of the same graph
Twisting to Abelian BF/Chern-Simons Theories
Starting from a , supersymmetric theory for matter fields, a twist
with a Grassmann parity change is defined which maps the theory into a gauge
fixed, abelian theory on curved 3-manifolds. After adding surface terms to
this theory, the twist is seen to map the resulting supersymmetric action to
two uncoupled copies of the gauge fixed Chern-Simons action. In addition, we
give a map which takes the and Chern-Simons theories into Donaldson-Witten
TQFT's. A similar construction, but with supersymmetry, is given in two
dimensions.Comment: 19 pages, CTP #2237, LaTe
Gamma-Glutamyltransferase is a Reliable Marker for Tubular Effects of Contrast Media
The aim of this study was to evaluate the usefulness of the measurement of urinary excretion of the brush-border enzyme gamma glutamyl-transferase (GGT), in comparison with that of alanine aminopeptidase (AAP), as a marker for tubular toxicity due to contrast media (CM). Urinary activities of AAP and GGT were measured prior to the administration of CM and 1, 3 and 5 days after in forty-nine adult renal patients undergoing a radiological examination with intravascular administration of CM. The behavior of GGT was similar to that of AAP. In fact, urinary activities of both AAP and GGT increased greatly after CM. This effect was maximal on the 1st day and statistically significant for both enzymes. Furthermore, on the 1st day a relevant increase of enzyme activity (at least +50% over the basal value) was observed in the same number of patients (67%) for AAP and GGT. The concordance between GGT and AAP variations was high and statistically significant. Finally, different variables (osmolarity, dose of CM, and baseline renal function of the patients) had a similar effect on urinary excretion of AAP and GGT. The repeatability of duplicated determinations of GGT resulted better than that of AAP. In conclusion, the good concordance of the results of GGT with those of AAP justifies the use of GGT as a marker for tubular effects due to CM. Furthermore, the measurement of GGT has a better repeatability than that of AAP
Renormalization and finiteness of topological BF theories
We show that the BF theory in any space-time dimension, when quantized in a
certain linear covariant gauge, possesses a vector supersymmetry. The generator
of the latter together with those of the BRS transformations and of the
translations form the basis of a superalgebra of the Wess-Zumino type. We give
a general classification of all possible anomalies and invariant counterterms.
Their absence, which amounts to ultraviolet finiteness, follows from purely
algebraic arguments in the lower-dimensional cases.Comment: 27 p., Latex fil
Objective: to analyze the perceptions of primary health care professionals in Paranaguá/PR about the relationship between the COVID-19 pandemic and cases of domestic violence in their assigned territories, identifying challenges in the approach, impacts on families and case management. Methodology: qualitative research was conducted using semi-structured interviews and focus groups with 36 professionals from two primary health care units in Paranaguá, on the Paraná coast. Results: Primary health care professionals unanimously reported an increase in the number of domestic violence cases in those communities, affecting women, children, and adolescents, with the closure of schools identified as an aggravating factor. The main challenges highlighted were the disruption of primary health care services during the peak of the pandemic due to the reallocation of professionals and resources; misinformation about referral processes for domestic violence cases within the intersectoral network; fear among professionals regarding the pandemic and reporting domestic violence cases; and high staff turnover. Conclusion: The period of social isolation caused by the pandemic intensified domestic violence cases, according to the perceptions of primary health care professionals in Paranaguá. The dismantling of the intersectoral network further compromised the care of individuals in situations of vulnerability and/or violence. The absence of national guidelines from the federal government left municipalities and primary health care professionals on their own to deal with the issue.

A pair of forbidden subgraphs and perfect matchings
AbstractIn this paper, we study the relationship between forbidden subgraphs and the existence of a matching. Let H be a set of connected graphs, each of which has three or more vertices. A graph G is said to be H-free if no graph in H is an induced subgraph of G. We completely characterize the set H such that every connected H-free graph of sufficiently large even order has a perfect matching in the following cases.(1)Every graph in H is triangle-free.(2)H consists of two graphs (i.e. a pair of forbidden subgraphs).A matching M in a graph of odd order is said to be a near-perfect matching if every vertex of G but one is incident with an edge of M. We also characterize H such that every H-free graph of sufficiently large odd order has a near-perfect matching in the above cases
Realizations of Thermal Supersymmetry
We investigate realizations of supersymmetry at finite temperature in terms
of thermal superfields, in a thermally constrained superspace: the Grassmann
coordinates are promoted to be time-dependent and antiperiodic, with a period
given by the inverse temperature. This approach allows to formulate a
Kubo-Martin-Schwinger (KMS) condition at the level of thermal superfield
propagators. The latter is proven directly in thermal superspace, and is shown
to imply the correct (bosonic and fermionic) KMS conditions for the component
fields. In thermal superspace, we formulate thermal covariant derivatives and
supercharges and derive the thermal super-Poincar\'e algebra. Finally, we
briefly investigate field realizations of this thermal supersymmetry algebra,
focussing on the Wess-Zumino model. The thermal superspace formalism is used to
characterize the breaking of global supersymmetry at finite temperature.Comment: 27 pages, no figures, LaTeX. Typos corrected and references added. To
