Analysis of Corpers Perception and Attitude towards Community Development Service of the Nigeria NYSC in Abia State
The first year of Antarctic VLBI observations
We are undertaking a series of geodetic VLBI observations between the Syowa Station 11-m antenna in Antarctica, and the 26-m antennas in Hobart Tasmania and Hartebeesthoek South Africa. These observations are the beginning of our campaign to monitor the motion and stability of the Antarctic plate. We describe here the results of the first year\u27s observations made during the southern summer and winter of 1998. Two mutually incompatible recording systems, K4 and S2, are used. The Mitaka FX Correlator was used to correlate these data. By using software called CALC3/MSOLV, the mean position of the antenna\u27s geodetic reference point was found to be X=1766194.152±0.006m, Y=1460410.923±0.005m and Z=- 5932273.329±0.015m at the epoch of 1998.9 in the International Terrestrial Reference Frame 2000 (ITRF2000) system. From a comparison with measurements made with other space geodetic techniques we estimate that our results have typical uncertainties of no more than 2 to 3cm in each coordinate
Trichomonas Transmembrane Cyclases Result from Massive Gene Duplication and Concomitant Development of Pseudogenes
Trichomonas vaginalis is the only medically important protist (single-cell eukaryote) that is sexually transmitted. The âŒ160-Mb Trichomonas genome contains more predicted protein-encoding genes (âŒ60,000) than the human genome. To begin to understand why there are so many copies of some genes, we chose here to study a large family of genes encoding unique transmembrane cyclases. Our most important results include the following. More than 100 transmembrane cyclase genes do not result from chromosomal duplications, because for the most part only the coding regions of the genes, rather than flanking sequences, are duplicated. Almost half of the transmembrane cyclase genes are pseudogenes, and these pseudogenes are polymorphic among laboratory strains of Trichomonas. Messenger RNAs for numerous transmembrane cyclases are expressed simultaneously, and representative cyclase domains have adenylyl cyclase activity. In summary, the large family of Trichomonas genes encoding transmembrane adenylyl cyclases results from massive gene duplication and concomitant development of pseudogenes
Recommended sleep duration is associated with higher consumption of fruits and vegetables; cross-sectional and prospective analyses from the UK Womenâs Cohort Study
Background: High intakes of fruit and vegetable has been shown to protect against diseases and all-cause mortality however, the associations between sleep and fruit and vegetable consumption are not well characterized. This study aims to explore both cross-sectional and prospective associations between sleep duration and fruit and vegetable intakes in UK women. This is the first study to demonstrate the prospective association between sleep duration and fruit and vegetable consumption.
Methods: Crossâsectional and prospective data were obtained from the UK Womenâs Cohort Study. Sleep duration was assessed by self-report of average hours slept on weekdays and weekends and diet was assessed by a 4-day food diary at baseline and follow-up (~â4âyears later). Sleep duration was categorized as short (â€6âh/d), recommended (7â9âh/d) and long (â„9âh/d). Regression analyses adjusting for age, socio-economic status, smoking, ethnicity and total energy intake were used and restricted cubic spline models were developed to explore potential non-linear associations between sleep duration and fruit and vegetable intakes.
Results: In adjusted cross-sectional analyses, short sleepers had on average 17âg/d (95% CI -30 to-4, pâ=â0.01) and long sleepers had 25âg/d (95% CI -39 to ââ12, pâ<â0.001) less total fruits and vegetables compared to Recommended Sleepers (RS). In adjusted prospective analyses, short sleepers had on average 85âg/d (95% CI -144 to ââ26, pâ=â0.005) less total fruits and vegetables in comparison to RS. Restricted cubic spline models showed that the cross-sectional (pâ<â0.001) and prospective (pâ=â0.001) associations between sleep duration and fruit and vegetable intakes were non-linear with women sleeping 7â9âh/d having the highest intakes.
Conclusions: Fruit and vegetable consumption differed between sleep duration categories with UK women sleeping the recommended 7â9âh/day having the highest intake of fruits and vegetables in cross-sectional and prospective analyses. These findings suggest that sleeping the recommended duration is associated with higher consumption of fruits and vegetables. Sleep is an overlooked lifestyle factor in relation to fruit and vegetable consumption and more notice is vital. Further studies are required to clarify the underlying mechanisms for these associations
First measurement of the C P -violating phase in B s 0 â J / Ï ( â e + e - ) Ï decays
Abstract: A flavour-tagged time-dependent angular analysis of Bs0âJ/ÏÏ decays is presented where the J/Ï meson is reconstructed through its decay to an e+e- pair. The analysis uses a sample of pp collision data recorded with the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8\,Te V, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3\,fb-1. The CP-violating phase and lifetime parameters of the Bs0 system are measured to be Ïs=0.00±0.28±0.07\,rad, ÎÎs=0.115±0.045±0.011\,ps-1 and Îs=0.608±0.018±0.012\,ps-1 where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. This is the first time that CP-violating parameters are measured in the Bs0âJ/ÏÏ decay with an e+e- pair in the final state. The results are consistent with previous measurements in other channels and with the Standard Model predictions
Search for the doubly charmed baryon Ω cc +
Abstract: A search for the doubly charmed baryon Ωcc+ with the decay mode Ωcc+ â Îc+KâÏ+ is performed using proton-proton collision data at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV collected by the LHCb experiment from 2016 to 2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 fbâ1. No significant signal is observed within the invariant mass range of 3.6 to 4.0GeV/c2. Upper limits are set on the ratio R of the production cross-section times the total branching fraction of the Ωcc+ â Îc+KâÏ+ decay with respect to the Îcc++âÎc+KâÏ+Ï+ decay. Upper limits at 95% credibility level for R in the range 0.005 to 0.11 are obtained for different hypotheses on the Ωcc+ mass and lifetime in the rapidity range from 2.0 to 4.5 and transverse momentum range from 4 to 15 GeV/c

Decays involving a or meson are analysed by reconstructing only the or decay products. This paper presents the first measurement of and , and the most precise measurement of the other five asymmetries. There is no evidence of violation in any of the analysed decays. Study of the lineshape of the chi(c1) (3872) state
A study of the lineshape of the chi(c1) (3872) state is made using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb(-1) collected in pp collisions at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV with the LHCb detector. Candidate chi(c1)(3872) and psi(2S) mesons from b-hadron decays are selected in the J/psi pi(+)pi(-) decay mode. Describing the lineshape with a Breit-Wigner function, the mass splitting between the chi(c1 )(3872) and psi(2S) states, Delta m, and the width of the chi(c1 )(3872) state, Gamma(Bw), are determined to be (Delta m=185.598 +/- 0.067 +/- 0.068 Mev,)(Gamma BW=1.39 +/- 0.24 +/- 0.10 Mev,) where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. Using a Flatte-inspired model, the mode and full width at half maximum of the lineshape are determined to be (mode=3871.69+0.00+0.05 MeV.)(FWHM=0.22-0.04+0.13+0.07+0.11-0.06-0.13 MeV, ) An investigation of the analytic structure of the Flatte amplitude reveals a pole structure, which is compatible with a quasibound D-0(D) over bar*(0) state but a quasivirtual state is still allowed at the level of 2 standard deviations
