Envisioning the idea. Creative graphic processes in architecture and concept art

[EN] The research delves into the creative graphic processes of architecture and concept art, a stage of visual development in world-creating industries such as video games and animation. Pre-production strategies such as conceptual drawings, color scripts or miniature sketches are related to study drawings, sequential drawings or serial visions that define the experience and architectural narrative. The suitable coherence between the visual strategies to explore the idea and the communicative purpose could be useful in architectural design as considering experiential and emotional perception. (2023). Visualizar la idea. The objective of the present study is to analyze the influence of coaches on emotional intelligence and on levels of anxiety, motivation, self-esteem, and resilience among athletes. Five-hundred forty-seven semi-professional athletes between the ages of 16 and 19 participated in this study. Various statistical analyses were conducted which explain the causal relationships between the variables. The results, obtained using a structural equations model, find that while autonomy support positively predicts emotional intelligence, perceived control predicts it negatively. Moreover, emotional intelligence positively predicts self-esteem and self-determined motivation, but negatively predicts anxiety. Other results show that self-esteem positively predicts self-determined motivation, whereas anxiety predicts it negatively. Finally, self-determined motivation positively predicts resilience. Indeed, the study demonstrates the influence and the importance of coaches in relation to the emotional intelligence, psychological well-being, and motivational processes of adolescent athletes when the latter engage in their respective sports. These results help to better understand how different behavioral, emotional, and social aspects belonging to the athlete interrelate with one another during competition

Caveolin-1 Modulates Mechanotransduction Responses to Substrate Stiffness through Actin-Dependent Control of YAP

The transcriptional regulator YAP orchestrates many cellular functions, including tissue homeostasis, organ growth control, and tumorigenesis. Mechanical stimuli are a key input to YAP activity, but the mechanisms controlling this regulation remain largely uncharacterized. We show that CAV1 positively modulates the YAP mechanoresponse to substrate stiffness through actin-cytoskeleton-dependent and Hippo-kinase-independent mechanisms. RHO activity is necessary, but not sufficient, for CAV1-dependent mechanoregulation of YAP activity. Systematic quantitative interactomic studies and image-based small interfering RNA (siRNA) screens provide evidence that this actin-dependent regulation is determined by YAP interaction with the 14-3-3 protein YWHAH. Constitutive YAP activation rescued phenotypes associated with CAV1 loss, including defective extracellular matrix (ECM) remodeling. CAV1-mediated control of YAP activity was validated in vivo in a model of pancreatitis-driven acinar-to-ductal metaplasia. We propose that this CAV1-YAP mechanotransduction system controls a significant share of cell programs linked to these two pivotal regulators, with potentially broad physiological and pathological implications. Moreno-Vicente et al. report that CAV1, a key component of PM mechanosensing caveolae, mediates adaptation to ECM rigidity by modulating YAP activity through the control of actin dynamics and phosphorylation-dependent interaction of YAP with the 14-3-3-domain protein YWHAH. Cav1-dependent YAP regulation drives two pathophysiological processes: ECM remodeling and pancreatic ADM. © 2018 The Author

Let (X, d) be a quasi-metric space and (Y, q) be a quasi-normed linear space. We show that the normed cone of semi-Lipschitz functions from (X, d) to (Y, q) that vanish at a point x0 E X, is balanced. Moreover, it is complete in the sense of D. Doitchinov whenever (Y, q) is a biBanach spac

Parallel computation of the reachability graph of petri net models with semantic information

Formal verification plays a crucial role when dealing with correctness of systems. In a previous work, the authors proposed a class of models, the Unary Resource Description Framework Petri Nets (U-RDF-PN), which integrated Petri nets and (RDF-based) semantic information. The work also proposed a model checking approach for the analysis of system behavioural properties that made use of the net reachability graph. Computing such a graph, specially when dealing with high-level structures as RDF graphs, is a very expensive task that must be considered. This paper describes the development of a parallel solution for the computation of the reachability graph of U-RDF-PN models. Besides that, the paper presents some experimental results when the tool was deployed in cluster and cloud frameworks. The results not only show the improvement in the total time required for computing the graph, but also the high scalability of the solution, which make it very useful thanks to the current (and future) availability of cloud infrastructures

Multilevel Multiphase Feedforward Space-Vector Modulation Technique

Multiphase converters have been applied to an increasing number of industrial applications in recent years. On the other hand, multilevel converters have become a mature technology mainly in medium- and high-power applications. One of the problems of multilevel converters is the dc voltage unbalance of the dc bus. Depending on the loading conditions and the number of levels of the converter, oscillations appear in the dc voltages of the dc link. This paper presents a feedforward modulation technique for multilevel multiphase converters that reduces the distortion under balanced or unbalanced dc conditions. The proposed modulation method can be applied to any multilevel-converter topology with any number of levels and phases. Experimental results are shown in order to validate the proposed feedforward modulation technique.Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación DPI2009-07004Ministerio de Eduación y Ciencia TEC2007-6187

    Get PDF
The aim of this paper is to analyze wholesale electricity market performance in the twenty years of existence. After describing spot market operation, the market for long-term and reliability charge, we analyzed the effect of variables such as El Niño, the reservoir level, the ratio of the actual availability and market demand and some effects of regulatory changes on the spot price. Also through a stochastic model we set up some recommendations on how to improve the functioning of this market with standardized contracts implementation considering international experience. Despite the market's advance in these twenty years of operation, there are still issues to be resolved, such as contracts standardized long-term implementation, smart grids and lowering the threshold to enter the unregulated market, as these aspects would help to reduce the spot price

[Abstract] Images of architecture spread quickly on visual social networks that gain interest to disseminate and communicate architecture. For this reason, it is a must to diagnose the social construction of the image of architecture, to explore the restrictions and publication formats of the platform, to identify the reaction and dissemination habits in relation to the visual features of photography and to delve into the possibilities and the risks introduced by artificial intelligence systems. The research method follows a cognitive association approach through various graphic case studies on Instagram. The exploratory design to approach the role of the image to communicate architecture in visual social media arises from the concept of the fragment and the biased vision, a division required due to the nature of related image suggestions as a browsing method on Instagram. The findings identify opportunities and action strategies to complement the contents that build the collective image of architecture adapted to the logic of the new scenario.[Resumen] Las imágenes de arquitectura se propagan rápidamente en las redes sociales visuales que ganan interés para difundir y comunicar la arquitectura.
