Supplemental Intensive Archaeological Survey for the Proposed Los Vientos IV Wind Energy Project

On February 19 and 25, 2015, Energy Renewal Partners, LLC (Energy Renewal) carried out an intensive pedestrian survey on a proposed portion of the Los Vientos IV Wind Energy Project site located on Texas General Land Office (GLO) land. Brandon Richards served as the Principal Investigator, and was aided by Jennifer Klingshirn. The survey area (ā€œProject Area,ā€ Area of Potential Effect, or ā€œAPEā€) consisted of approximately 4.1 acres of upland mesquite pasture, about 10 miles (16 km) northeast of Rio Grande City, in Starr County, Texas. The purpose of the intensive survey was to supplement the 126 acres surveyed in August 2014 due to a slight change in project design. As with the 126-acre survey, no archaeological sites or artifacts were identified. In addition, the upland setting, thin soil cover, abundant exposed caliche and limestone, and lack of deposition provide little opportunity for buried cultural resources. The proposed undertaking will not affect any prehistoric or historic period archaeological sites deemed eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places, or designated as State Antiquities Landmarks, as defined in 36CFR 800.16(1), 36 CFR 60.4, and 13 TAC 26.5. It is therefore recommended that the project be allowed to proceed without further archaeological investigations

Independent sexual violence advisers (ISVAs) in England, Wales and Northern Ireland: a study of impacts, effects, coping mechanisms and effective support systems for people working as ISVAs and ISVA Managers

This study is the first of its kind in England, Wales and Northern Ireland and was carried out to gather information about the impact of working as Independent Sexual Violence Advisers (ISVAs) or ISVA Managers. The ISVA role is relatively new, and as such, little is known about this difficult and emotionally charged work. Although some literature looks at the impact of working in the sexual violence field, there is little from England, Wales or Northern Ireland, and even less focused on the direct, ongoing, face-to-face work ISVAs do. This report focuses on the impacts, effects, coping mechanisms and effective support systems for people working as ISVAs and ISVA Managers in supporting victim-survivors of sexual violence across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Since its introduction in 2005, the ISVA role has been invaluable in providing continuous support to victim-survivors of sexual violence and working to meet their emotional and practical needs during the criminal justice process. As conviction rates are at an all-time low, ISVAs can also provide support to people who may otherwise feel let down by the Criminal Justice System. ISVAs can also support people who do not want to report the crime to the police ā€“ helping people at, potentially, the lowest point of their life. This survey focused on providing an overview of the ISVA role (e.g. context they work in, caseloads, supervision and support available) and determining which factors predict the likelihood of experiencing negative and positive impacts as a result of the work they do

Određivanje optičkih konstanti vakuumski naparenih tankih slojeva CdSxSe14 x mjerenjem transmisijskih spektara

A procedure to calculate the optical constants and thickness of thin films, using only data from the transmission spectra, has been employed in the case of cadmium sulfo-selenide films prepared by thermal evaporation. Using this technique, the calculated thickness was found to an accuracy ranging between 1.0 and 3.0% compared with other methods. The refractive index and the absorption coefficient, as a function of composition (i.e. value of x) have been derived using this technique that proved to be very accurate. CdSxSe1-x films have a direct energy gap for films of various composition, and the values of the energy gap were found to increase when increasing the content of sulphur (x).Primijenili smo račun za određivanje optičkih konstanti tankih slojeva kadmij sulfoselenida, na osnovi samih transmisijskih spektara.

Microstructure evolution and sintering kinetics of ZnO

    Get PDF
The aim of this work was to analyse the kinetics and microstructure evolution of ZnO sintering process. ZnO powder was isothermally sintered (15, 30, 60, 90 and 120 min) in the temperature range from 8000C to 12000C. The values of Lenel parameter were calculated and used for the analysis of the densification and mass transport processes. Using scanning electron microscopy the analysis of the microstructure evolution and dependence of the average grain size with temperature and time of sintering was obtained. The results of this research could enable development of a new phenomenological equations in the analyses of ZnO-based materials sintering kinetics

Current Ripple Analysis of New Double-Stator AC Drive Systems

    Get PDF
This paper presents a current ripple analysis of new double-stator AC drive system. At first, a new double-stator AC drive system is proposed. The aim is to combine the benefits both the multilevel and multiphase system to provide the better performance to drive AC motor. The input and output current ripples of the proposed AC drive system are then analyzed. The current ripples of the proposed AC drive system are then compared to the ones of conventional double-stator AC drive system. Under the same DC input voltage, it is shown that the proposed results in less output current ripple. Under the same output voltage, the proposed AC drive system results in smaller input current and, therefore, fewer losses on the DC power supply. Experimental results are included to show the validity of the proposed concept

Dual Carrier PWM Inverter-Fed Nine-Phase AC Motors

    Get PDF
In many applications such as electric vehicles, dual mode operation is needed, i.e pulsewidth modulation (PWM) mode for low speed region and squarewave mode for high speed region. The latest research has shown that symmetrical ninephase motor could provide optimal characteristics under dual mode operation, i.e. minimum nverter input and rotor current ripples. By using analytical calculation, in this paper the authors show that asymmetrical nine-phase motor can also provide the optimal characteristics under dual mode operation by simply using dual carrier PWM. This finding is supported by experimental results
