Study of Deformation Effects in the Charged Particle Emission from 46Ti
The 46Ti compound nucleus, as populated by the fusion-evaporation reaction
27Al + 19F at the bombarding energy of 144 MeV, has been investigated by
charged particle spectroscopy using the multidetector array ICARE at the
VIVITRON tandem facility of the IReS (Strasbourg). The light charged particles
have been measured in coincidence with evaporation residues. The CACARIZO code,
a Monte Carlo implementation of the statistical-model code CASCADE, has been
used to calculate the spectral shapes of evaporated alpha-particles which are
compared with the experimental spectra. This comparison indicates the possible
signature of large deformations of the compound nucleus.Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures, Proceedings od the Zakopane 20004 Symposium, to

Fetal membranes as a source of stem cells
ABSTRACT In recent years, a constant growth of knowledge and clinical applications of stem cells have been observed. Mesenchymal stromal cells, also described as mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) represent a particular cell type for research and therapy because of their ability to differentiate into mesodermal lineage cells. The most investigated source of MSCs is bone marrow (BM). Yet, collection of BM is an invasive procedure associated with significant discomfort to the patient. The procedure results in a relatively low number of these cells, which can decrease with donor´s age. Therefore, it seems to be very important to find other sources of mesenchymal stem cells nowadays. A human placenta, which is routinely discarded postpartum, in spite of its natural aging process, is still a rich source of stem cells capable to proliferate and in vitro differentiate in many directions. Besides homing and differentiation in the area of injury, MSCs there elicit strong paracrine effects stimulating the processes of repair. In this review, we focus on the biology, characteristics and potential clinical applications of cells derived from human fetal membranes: amnion and chorion
Evidence for the Jacobi shape transition in hot 46Ti
The gamma-rays from the decay of the GDR in 46Ti compound nucleus formed in
the 18O+28Si reaction at bombarding energy 105 MeV have been measured in an
experiment using a setup consisting of the combined EUROBALL IV, HECTOR and
EUCLIDES arrays. A comparison of the extracted GDR lineshape data with the
predictions of the thermal shape fluctuation model shows evidence for the
Jacobi shape transition in hot 46Ti. In addition to the previously found broad
structure in the GDR lineshape region at 18-27 MeV caused by large
deformations, the presence of a low energy component (around 10 MeV), due to
the Coriolis splitting in prolate well deformed shape, has been identified for
the first time.Comment: 8 pages, 4 figures, proceedings of the COMEX1 conference, June 2003,

Strong Deformation Effects in Hot Rotating 46Ti
Exotic-deformation effects in 46Ti nucleus were investigated by analysing the
high-energy gamma-ray and the alpha-particle energy spectra. One of the
experiments was performed using the charged-particle multi-detector array ICARE
together with a large volume (4"x4") BGO detector. The study focused on
simultaneous measurement of light charged particles and gamma-rays in
coincidence with the evaporation residues. The experimental data show a
signature of very large deformations of the compound nucleus in the Jacobi
transition region at the highest spins. These results are compared to data from
previous experiments performed with the HECTOR array coupled to the EUROBALL
array, where it was found that the GDR strength function is highly fragmented,
strongly indicating a presence of nuclei with very large deformation.Comment: 10 pages, 6 figures, Proceedings of the Zakopane Conference on

GDR Feeding of the Highly-Deformed Band in 42Ca
The gamma-ray spectra from the decay of the GDR in the compound nucleus
reaction 18O+28Si at bombarding energy of 105 MeV have been measured in an
experiment using the EUROBALL IV and HECTOR arrays. The obtained experimental
GDR strength function is highly fragmented, with a low energy (10 MeV)
component, indicating a presence of a large deformation and Coriolis effects.
In addition, the preferential feeding of the highly-deformed band in 42Ca by
this GDR low energy component is observed.Comment: 6 pages, 2 figures, Proceedings of the Zakopane2004 Symposium, to be

High-spin states and band terminations in v 49
High-spin states in 49 V have been studied through the 28 Si(28 Si, α3p) reaction using the EUROBALL γ-ray detector array. The 49 V level scheme has been extended up to 13.1 MeV including 21 new states. Both negative and positive parity states have been interpreted in the framework of theShell Model. The 27/2− and the 31/2+ band termination states have been observed in agreement with theoretical predictions.Fil: Rodrigues Ferreira Maltez, Dario Pablo. Core-coupled states and split proton-neutron quasi-particle multiplets in 122-126Ag
Neutron-rich silver isotopes were populated in the fragmentation of a 136Xe
beam and the relativistic fission of 238U. The fragments were mass analyzed
with the GSI Fragment separator and subsequently implanted into a passive
stopper. Isomeric transitions were detected by 105 HPGe detectors. Eight
isomeric states were observed in 122-126Ag nuclei. The level schemes of
122,123,125Ag were revised and extended with isomeric transitions being
observed for the first time. The excited states in the odd-mass silver isotopes
are interpreted as core-coupled states. The isomeric states in the even-mass
silver isotopes are discussed in the framework of the proton-neutron split
multiplets. The results of shell-model calculations, performed for the most
neutron-rich silver nuclei are compared to the experimental data
Charged particle decay of hot and rotating Mo nuclei in fusion-evaporation reactions
A study of fusion-evaporation and (partly) fusion-fission channels for the
Mo compound nucleus, produced at different excitation energies in the
reaction Ti + Ca at 300, 450 and 600 MeV beam energies, is
presented. Fusion-evaporation and fusion-fission cross sections have been
extracted and compared with the existing systematics. Experimental data
concerning light charged particles have been compared with the prediction of
the statistical model in its implementation in the Gemini++ code, well suited
even for high spin systems, in order to tune the main model parameters in a
mass region not abundantly covered by exclusive experimental data.
Multiplicities for light charged particles emitted in fusion evaporation events
are also presented. Some discrepancies with respect to the prediction of the
statistical model have been found for forward emitted -particles; they
may be due both to pre-equilibrium emission and to reaction channels (such as
Deep Inelastic Collisions, QuasiFission/QuasiFusion) different from the
compound nucleus formation.Comment: 14 pages, 14 figure
Pygmy dipole resonance in Ce 140 via inelastic scattering of O 17
M. Krzysiek et al. ; 8 págs.; 7 figs. ; 2 tabs. The γ decay from the high-lying states of Ce140 excited via inelastic scattering of O17 at a bombarding energy of 340 MeV was measured using the high-resolution AGATA-demonstrator array in coincidence with scattered ions detected in two segmented ΔE-E silicon detectors. Angular distributions of scattered ions and emitted γ rays were measured, as well as their differential cross sections. The excitation of 1- states below the neutron separation energy is similar to the one obtained in reactions with the α isoscalar probe. The comparison between the experimental differential cross sections and the corresponding predictions using the distorted-wave Born approximation allowed us to extract the isoscalar component of identified 1- pygmy states. For this analysis the form factor obtained by folding microscopically calculated transition densities and optical potentials was used. ©2016 American Physical SocietyThis work has been partly supported by the stipend

The PARIS cluster coupled to the BaFPro electronic module: data analysis from the NRF experiment at the ELBE facility
International audience; The first cluster of the constructed PARIS calorimeter was assembled and tested atthe ELBE facility at HZDR, Dresden, Germany. The experiment was aimed at the evaluationof the performance of each detector separately as well as the whole PARIS cluster with discrete-ray energies seen by the PARIS ranging up to 8.9 MeV. As the detectors use phoswichconfiguration, with 2'' x 2'' x 2'' LaBr3(Ce) crystal coupled to 2'' x 2'' x 6'' NaI(Tl) one, greatcare must be taken during the data analysis process to obtain the best possible values for energyresolution. Two algorithms for data transformation from matrices created with slow vs fastpulse shaping to energy spectra were tested from which one was chosen for further analysis. Analgorithm for adding back energies of -rays scattered inside the cluster was prepared, as well.Energy resolution for -rays in 2–8 MeV range was estimated and is presented in this paper
