Optimizing a Simple Natural Dye Production Method for Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells: Examples for Betalain (Bougainvillea and Beetroot Extracts) and Anthocyanin Dyes

We present a study about the sensitizers extracted from natural resources. This paper focuses on how to select, extract and characterize natural dyes, giving some guides to establish a protocol for the whole process of fabricating and using these dyes. The influence of the extraction solvent and method, and of parameters such as pH are analyzed. Also, dye precursor and dye extract stability have been studied, as well as how the dye adsorbs onto substrates and the effect of mixing or concentrating the extracts. Results concerning betalain pigments present in bougainvillea and beetroot extracts, and anthocyanins in eggplant extracts, analyzed by using UV-Vis spectrometry, are included. As an example of application, we report procedures intended to test and enhance the dye potential as a main component of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). DSSCs mimic nature’s photosynthesis and have some advantages like an easy and low-cost fabrication procedure. Their efficiency depends on its design and fabrication process and also on the different components involved. Hence, optimizing each component is essential to achieve the best performance, and thus the dye used as a sensitizer is crucial. We fabricate cells by using a simple procedure: As the interest is focused on the sensitizer, the same consecutive steps are followed, varying only the dye extract. Among all the natural-dyes tested, beetroot extract reaches up to 0.47% cell efficiency, which is near the highest values found in literature for this pigment

Determinants of tourism destination competitiveness in the countries most visited by international tourists: Proposal of a synthetic index

Tourism destination competitiveness is a multidimensional concept that is widely studied in the academic literature, but multiple factors make its measurement a difficult task. In this article, we design a synthetic index to rank the 80 countries that attract the majority of international tourists by level of tourism competitiveness. In order to do this, we use all of the simple variables included in the 2017 Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Index, proposing a new methodology for the construction of this synthetic index, which it solves the problems of aggregation of variables expressed in different measures, arbitrary weighting and duplicity of information; issues that remain unresolved by the TTCI. Likewise, we analyse the most influential dimensions in tourism competitiveness. PATOLOGÍA PULMONAR CONGÉNITA: EVALUACIÓN Y MANEJO PERINATAL

RESUMENLas malformaciones pulmonares congénitas son un grupo heterogéneo de alteraciones del desarrollo pulmonar que pueden producirse en distintas etapas de la embriogénesis, afectando al parénquima, la irrigación arterial, al drenaje venoso o ser una combinación de ellas. La nomenclatura y clasificación se ha modificado con frecuencia en el último tiempo, por lo que conocer la fisiopatología y etapa del desarrollo en que se producen es lo más relevante para su entendimiento.El diagnóstico prenatal se hace en base a la ecografía y se apoya con resonancia magnética fetal, mientras que la radiografía y la TAC pulmonar son las principales herramientas para el diagnóstico posnatal. La presentación clínica es variable, desde la muerte por hidrops fetal, hasta pacientes que permanecen asintomáticos por años.Existen alternativas terapéuticas prenatales para pacientes con alto riesgo de mortalidad intrauterina, y la extirpación posnatal es la conducta con más respaldo incluso en pacientes asintomáticos.SUMMARYCongenital lung malformations are a heterogeneous group of disorders of lung development that may occur at different stages of embryogenesis, affecting the parenchyma, arterial supply, venous drainage or a combination of them. The nomenclature and classification has been changed frequently in recent times, so knowing the pathophysiology and stage of development in which they occur is the most relevant for understanding.Prenatal diagnosis is based on ultrasound and fetal MRI, while pulmonary radiography and CT are the main test for post-natal diagnosis. The clinical presentation is variable, from fetal hydrops death, to patients who remain asymptomatic for years.There are prenatal treatment options for patients at high risk of intrauterine mortality, and the postnatal removal is the behavior with more support, even in asymptomatic patients

A Scrum-based approach to CMMI maturity level 2 in Web Development environments

Scrum has become one of the most popular agile methodologies, either alone or combined with other agile practices. Besides, CMMI (Capability Maturity Model Integration) is accepted as a suitable model to measure the maturity of the organizations when developing or acquiring software. Although these two approaches are often considered antagonist, the use of an agile approach to reach certain CMMI maturity levels may result beneficial to organizations that develop Web systems, since they would take the advantages of both approaches. In Web community, this union may be very interesting, because agile approaches fits with the special needs of Web development, and they could be a useful tool for companies getting a certain grade of maturity. This work analyzes the goals of CMMI maturity level 2 and the feasibility of achieving them using the practices proposed by Scrum, trying to assess whether the use of this methodology is suitable for meeting the CMMI generic and specific goals or not. Estado actual de los Índices Bursátil en el mundo

El estudio tiene como objetivo mostrar el estado actual de los índices bursátiles del mundo. Es un estudio descriptivo. Los resultados indican que en los 94 países seleccionados, se construyen 3,429 índices, clasificados en principal, adicionales, sectoriales y otros. Existe una gran variedad de características que identifican al índice bursátil. El modelo estimado nos indica que el número de empresas en el índice principal está determinado por las nuevas inversiones productivas de las empresas y la emisión de más valores accionarios al mercado

La atención sociocultural en la Comunidad de Madrid

La finalidad y propuesta del presente artículo consiste en aportar un componente epistemológico, la atención sociocultural, al constructo teórico que estudia los elementos, las variables y la organización de la educación formal y de la educación no formal desde la perspectiva de la intervención institucionalizada y consciente con la que una sociedad organiza su Sistema Educativo en un momento determinado de su historia. Desde ese planteamiento epistemológico se efectúa una breve, pero densa relación de todas esas actuaciones institucionalizadas que podrían componer la calificada como atención sociocultural en un contexto autonómico desde que se efectuaron las transferencias en materia educativa.The purpose and proposal of this article consits of contributing an epistemologic component, that is called sociocultural awareness, to the theoretical construct that studies the elements, the variables and the organization of the formal and no formal education from the perspective of the institutionalized and conscious intervention with what a society organizes its Educative System in a certain moment of its history. A brief, but dense, relation of all these institutionalized proceeding is done from this epistemologig approach. This proceeding could constitute what is called the sociocultural awareness in an autonomic context since the educative transfer was carried out

Beneficios ambientales de la participación ciudadana en la planificación

El creciente interés suscitado por incorporar la participación en los procesos de planificación junto con su potencial utilidad como oportunidad frente a la creciente complejidad espacial y los nuevos retos territoriales, lleva a estudiar e identificar cuáles son los beneficios ambientales que se derivarían de su instrumentalización. Para dar respuesta al objetivo anterior, en primer lugar, se intenta justificar la fuerte relación y necesidad existentes entre los procesos de planificación y la participación ciudadana, tratando de evidenciar por qué debe considerarse a ésta como elemento operativo y central. En segundo lugar, ensayando la anterior reflexión, se sondean los resultados de la participación en varios Planes generales de ordenación urbana. Por último, a partir del análisis anterior, se extraen una serie de conclusiones en relación con los beneficios ambientales identificados como consecuencia de la incidencia de la participación detectada, con sus limitaciones y oportunidades.The growing interest in incorporating citizen participation in urban planning together with its potential utility as an opportunity to face the increasing spacial complexity and new territorial challenges have led us to study and identify what are the environmental benefits that result from the instrumentalization of citizen participation in urban planning processes. First, we justify the strong relationship between urban planning processes and citizen participation. In addition to this, we find out the reason why citizen participation has to be considered as an operating element and core. Secondly, after trying out the previous ideas, we analyse the results of citizen participation in several Masterplans. Finally, after all the analysis mentioned above, we draw a set of conclusions regarding the environmental benefits identified, their limitations and opportunities.Peer Reviewe

Una aplicación del análisis de frontera de producción estocástica: el caso de hospitales del subsistema de salud pública de Nicaragua

El presente ensayo tiene por finalidad analizar comparativamente la eficiencia técnica de la red de servicios de salud hospitalaria, según SILAIS, mediante la técnica de frontera estocástica. Esta técnica consiste en ajustar una función de producción mediante técnicas econométricas. Los resultados esperados es tener una medida de eficiencia por SILAIS de sus respectivas redes hospitalarias. Para la aplicación del modelo de frontera estocástica, se especifica una función de producción Cobb-Douglas a la que se le añaden las perturbaciones de ruido (simétricas) y de eficiencia (seminormal) y mediante el programa Stata, se estiman los parámetros de interés y se calcula la eficiencia para cada red de servicio hospitalaria
