    Hot carrier and hot phonon coupling during ultrafast relaxation of photoexcited electrons in graphene

    We study, by means of a Monte Carlo simulator, the hot phonon effect on the relaxation dynamics in photoexcited graphene and its quantitative impact as compared to considering an equilibrium phonon distribution. Our multi-particle approach indicates that neglecting the hot phonon effect significantly underestimates the relaxation times in photoexcited graphene. The hot phonon effect is more important for a higher energy of the excitation pulse and photocarrier densities between 11 and 3×1012 cm23\times 10^{12} \mathrm{~cm}^{-2}. Acoustic intervalley phonons play a non-negligible role, and emitted phonons with wavelengths limited up by a maximum (determined by the carrier concentration) induce a slower carrier cooling rate. Intrinsic phonon heating is damped in graphene on a substrate due to additional cooling pathways, with the hot phonon effect showing a strong inverse dependence with the carrier density.Comment: 12 pages, 5 figure

    En las cumbres de Sierra Nevada aparecen depósitos de morfologia acordonada que están constituidos por acumulaciones de cantos angulosos de gran tamaño y una pequeña o nula proporción en matriz. Estos han sido interpretados como depósitos de glaciares rocosos, generados en una última crisis climatica acontecida entre los 13.000 y 10.000 años B.PAmong the variety of deposits in the high mountain zone of Sierra Nevada, some coarse-grained detritic acumulations are worthy to remark. These appear related to glacial scarps and have been interpreted as ancien rock glaciers deposits. Two types have been distinguished: the first has a string-like morfology, the matrix is very scarce and hollow can be found between the pebbles; the second tends to show lobulate forms and higher contents of matrix. In both cases the pebbles are extremely angular and heterometric. The mechanism which probably originated these depositional forms has been gravitational displacing of a rock fragments mass with interstitial ice, wich confered a plastic behaviour to the assemblage. The age for these processes is estimate between 13.000 and 10.000 years B.

    Adiastereo- and highly enantioselective dynamic kinetic resolution (DKR) of configurationally labile hetero- biaryl ketones is described.     Characterization of artisanal honey produced on the Northwest of Portugal by melissopalynological and physico-chemical data

    Honey has always been regarded as a food which is advantageous for one’s health and as a product which has healing qualities. For this reason, is necessary to protect consumers from the fraudulent mislabeling of inferior honeys. The purpose of this study was to investigate some properties of artisanal honey samples (n = 45) collected from the Northwest of Portugal by using different honey analysis tests such as moisture, ash, pH, free acidity, electrical conductivity, hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF), apparent sucrose, reducing sugars and diastase activity. 77.8% of the total exceeded the quality parameters and should be labeled as ‘‘virgin” (humidity 618% and HMF 6 25 mg/kg). The present study found a linear correlation (y = 0.551x 0.089; R = 0.995) between the electrical conductivity of honeys and their ash content. All of the samples showed an Erica sp. pollen percentageP15%, and 42% of the total were monofloral Erica sp. In respect to coliforms and Salmonella’s presence, all the honey’s samples shown to be negative. The existence of sulphite-reducing Clostridia was low, and well below the established limit by MERCOSUR. Yeasts, moulds and aerobic mesophiles were detected in low amounts

    A Dynamic Kinetic Asymmetric Heck Reaction for the Simultaneous Generation of Central and Axial Chirality

    A highly diastereo- and enantioselective, scalable Pd-catalyzed dynamic kinetic asymmetric Heck reaction of heterobiaryl sulfonates with electron-rich olefins is described. The coupling of 2,3-dihydrofuran or N-boc protected 2,3-dihydropyrrole with a variety of quinoline, quinazoline, phthalazine, and picoline derivatives takes place with simultaneous installation of central and axial chirality, reaching excellent diastereo- and enantiomeric excesses when in situ formed [Pd0/DM-BINAP] was used as the catalyst, with loadings reduced down to 2 mol % in large scale reactions. The coupling of acyclic, electron-rich alkenes can also be performed using a [Pd0/Josiphos ligand] to obtain axially chiral heterobiaryl α-substituted alkenes in high yields and enantioselectivities. Products from Boc-protected 2,3-dihydropyrrole can be easily transformed into N,N ligands or appealing axially chiral, bifunctional proline-type organocatalysts.     We introduce Celebrity games, a new model of network creation games. In this model players have weights (W being the sum of all the player's weights) and there is a critical distance ß as well as a link cost a. The cost incurred by a player depends on the cost of establishing links to other players and on the sum of the weights of those players that remain farther than the critical distance. Intuitively, the aim of any player is to be relatively close (at a distance less than ß ) from the rest of players, mainly of those having high weights. The main features of celebrity games are that: computing the best response of a player is NP-hard if ß>1 and polynomial time solvable otherwise; they always have a pure Nash equilibrium; the family of celebrity games having a connected Nash equilibrium is characterized (the so called star celebrity games) and bounds on the diameter of the resulting equilibrium graphs are given; a special case of star celebrity games shares its set of Nash equilibrium profiles with the MaxBD games with uniform bounded distance ß introduced in Bilò et al. [6]. Moreover, we analyze the Price of Anarchy (PoA) and of Stability (PoS) of celebrity games and give several bounds. These are that: for non-star celebrity games PoA=PoS=max{1,W/a}; for star celebrity games PoS=1 and PoA=O(min{n/ß,Wa}) but if the Nash Equilibrium is a tree then the PoA is O(1); finally, when ß=1 the PoA is at most 2.
