Woman Killing and Adoption in Alicia Gaspar de Alba’s Desert Blood: The Juárez Murders (2005)

Alicia Gaspar de Alba’s novel Desert Blood: The Juárez Murders (2005) informs its readers about the serial feminicidal violence that has afflicted Ciudad Juárez, the twin town to El Paso, Texas. The novel is explicit about its feminist, political agenda and appeal to social justice. The article discusses details from the novel in which Gaspar de Alba portrays the Juárez murders in a compelling manner that employs Diana Russell’s, and Rosa Linda Fregoso and Cynthia Bejarano’s concepts of femi(ni)cide to provide a fictionalized, yet analytical, account of institutionalized gender violence targeting poor brown women. The article is innovative in its focus on Desert Bloods’ side characters, Cecilia and Elsa, who are key in Gaspar de Alba’s ability to convey the complex structure of how feminicides come to be perpetuated through the utilization of women’s bodies under capitalist and androcentric systems of social life. Concurrently, this article argues that a more careful and nuanced representation of intercountry adoption  enhances Desert Blood’s feminist and ethical appeal, and accounts in a greater detail for the dynamic of power relations between the Chicana protagonist and the two Mexican side characters of Cecilia and Elsa

A contextual interpretation of "This Bridge Called My Back": nationalism, androcentrism and the means of cultural representation

Gloria Anzaldúa’s and Cherríe Moraga’s important contribution to women of color feminism, the anthology "This Bridge Called My Back: Writings by Radical Women of Color" (1981) and Anzaldúa’s masterpiece "Borderlands/La Frontera – The New Mestiza" (1987) represented a significant milestone for the evolution of contemporary Chicana literature. Gloria Anzaldúa’s concept of mestiza consciousness is presented in this article as a form of epistemology that makes non-binary and non-discriminatory reinterpretations of the Western concept of the border possible. Anzaldúa’s rearticulation of the U.S.-Mexican border is contrasted with established U.S. national myths of westward expansion. ANALYSIS OF THE ACCURACY OF FIBRE-OPTIC STRAIN GAUGES

In recent years, the field of structure monitoring has been making increasing use of systems based on fiber-optic technologies. Fiber-optic technology offers many advantages, including higher quality measurements, greater reliability, easier installation and maintenance, insensitivity to the environment (mainly to the electromagnetic field), corrosion resistance, safety in explosive and flammable environments, the possibility of long-term monitoring and lower cost per lifetime. We have used SOFO fibre-optic strain gauges to perform measurements to check the overall relative deformation of a real reinforced concrete structure. Long-term monitoring of the structure revealed that the measurement readings obtained from these fibre-optic strain gauges differed from each other. Greater attention was therefore paid to the calibration of the fibre-optic strain gauges, and to determining their measurement accuracy. The experimental results show that it is necessary to calibrate SOFO strain gauges before they are used, and to determine their calibration constant

1 Předkládaná práce se snaží postihnout řízení cestovního ruchu v královských městech střední velikosti v Čechách, a to z hlediska strategického plánování, péče o památky, kapacit hromadných ubytovacích zařízení a návštěvnosti. Opomenuta ovšem není ani schopnost sdružování a vzájemné spolupráce. Jádro práce je ve své podstatě kvalitativním výzkumem, který je kromě základů analýzy a syntézy, založený na metodě komparace sekundárních dat, kterými jsou jednak rozvojové dokumenty řešených měst, a jednak i výstupy z národní statistiky. Královská města oplývají nesčetným kulturním bohatstvím a jsou tak vyhledávanými centry městského cestovního ruchu. La pandemia del coronavirus como oportunidad de innovación pedagógica. Investigación de Recursos Didácticos de Museos y Galerías de Arte

Our paper deals with online educational resources created by art museums and galleries of the Czech Republic in the time of the coronavirus pandemic. This paper is a partial outcome of a research project currently conducted by the authors at the Palacký University Olomouc in the Czech Republic. The primary focus of the research is to analyse online accessible digital educational resources of educational departments of art museums and galleries, the ways of their presentation to the public, and the way they can be used by art educators for distance teaching of art education not only in the time of coronavirus. As part of our research, we will create a set of case studies, on the basis of which a typology of online educational resources will be formulated. This paper presents the up-to-date results of the research as well as analyses and gives examples of three categories of online educational resources, namely motivational challenges, educational tutorials, and interactive websites.Nuestro artículo trata sobre los recursos educativos en línea creados por los museos y galerías de arte de la República Checa en tiempos de la pandemia del coronavirus. Úvodní část práce seznamuje s tématem pracovních úrazů a jejich obecným řešením. Druhá kapitola se zaměřuje na vymezení základních pojmů z oblasti pracovního práva. Obsahuje charakteristiku pracovních úrazů, odpovědnost zaměstnavatele za škodu při pracovních úrazech a bezpečnost a ochranu zdraví při práci. Třetí část práce řeší konkrétní úrazy ve stavebním podniku. Jsou použity statistiky pracovních úrazů, které se ve firmě staly během určitého období. Čtvrtá kapitola popisuje postup při odškodňování pracovních úrazů v konkrétní společnosti. V této části jsou popsány příklady pracovních úrazů a způsob jejich odškodnění. Závěr práce sumarizuje počet pracovních úrazů v této konkrétní společnosti; jejich počet je 12, což může být považováno za nízké číslo a signalizuje, že firma dbá o zdraví svých zaměstnanců všemi možnými prostředky.Abstract Name of student: Kateřina Jiroutová Title of thesis: Industrial Injuries in the Company The aim of this thesis is to find out how the concrete company deals with industrial injury. Introduction part involves this topic and its general solution. The second chapter focuses on determination of the basic terms of employment law. It contains characteristic of industrial injuries, responsibility of the employer for possible damage and safety and protection of health. The third part of the thesis solves concrete injuries in building company. There are statistics of injuries happened within particular time period used. The fourth chapter describes the process during compensation of those injuries. This part also includes the examples of industrial injuries and their compensation. Optimizing the Performance of the Mandatory Proportion of Employment of People with Disabilities

Bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na optimalizaci plnění povinného podílu zaměstnávání osob se zdravotním postižením. Porovnává jednotlivé možnosti plnění a jejich vzájemnou kombinaci. Analyzuje stávající variantu plnění u vybraného zaměstnavatele a navrhuje vhodnější řešení především z ekonomického hlediska. Vyjadřuje možnost zaměstnávat osoby se zdravotním postižením.The bachelor thesis focuses on optimizing the performance of the mandatory proportion of employment of people with disabilities. It compares a few possibilities of performance and their combinations. It analyses current variant of performance of the chosen employer and suggests suitable solution of performance. It shows possibility how to employ people with disabilities.
