    Ontology-based assistance system for control process reconfiguration of Robot-Based Applications

    Due to increasing global competition, companies are challenged to make their production flexible and adaptable. This leads to a steadily increasing complexity of production systems and thus their automation and control processes. At the same time, control processes must be quickly configurable in order to be able to react to short product life cycles. Robot-based adhesive application in automotive body assembly represents one such control and automation process. In car body assembly, industrial robots are increasingly being used for gluing side panels, enabling flow operation in assembly. In the event of a functional change in the production process, such as the replacement of the adhesive to be used, all the given process interrelationships must be analysed again and reconfigured if necessary in order to ensure the quality of the bonded joint. Comprehensive data management systems that provide an overview of all the system parameters and control levers are often not available in companies, so that reconfiguration is based on experience. Correct adjustment of the process parameters thus requires the user to have precise knowledge of the complex interrelationships between the process and bonding parameters, which makes the search for solutions in the event of a process change more difficult and time-consuming. In order to master the complexity of process planning and configuration, a large number of user-supporting solutions exist in the area of product lifecycle management (PLM). However, these neither have the functionality to generate solution and optimization proposals, nor do they map the existing expert knowledge with so-called empirical values about the system behaviour. The advantages of semantic technologies including ontologies, such as their graph structure and suitability for the use of optimization algorithms, illustrate their potential as the basis of a knowledge-based assistance solution. Against this background, the aim of this paper is to develop an ontology-based knowledge management system that can consolidate existing product and process information and add expert knowledge to it. The resulting knowledge graph of the process is then examined using selected optimization algorithms (PMS, Parallel Machine Scheduling). From the analysis, configuration suggestions can be derived, which can be presented to the user with a visualisation interface. Finally, the potential of ontologies as the basis of a knowledge-based assistance system is evaluated based on given results

    Summary of cerebrospinal fluid routine parameters in neurodegenerative diseases

    In neurodegenerative diseases, cerebrospinal fluid analysis (CSF) is predominantly performed to exclude inflammatory diseases and to perform a risk assessment in dementive disorders by measurement of tau proteins and amyloid beta peptides. However, large scale data on basic findings of CSF routine parameters are generally lacking. The objective of the study was to define a normal reference spectrum of routine CSF parameters in neurodegenerative diseases. Routine CSF parameters (white cell count, lactate and albumin concentrations, CSF/serum quotients of albumin (Qalb), IgG, IgA, IgM, and oligoclonal IgG bands (OCB)) were retrospectively analyzed in an academic research setting. A total of 765 patients (Alzheimer’s disease (AD), Parkinson’s disease (PD), Parkinson’s disease dementia (PDD), vascular dementia (VD), frontotemporal lobar degeneration (FTLD), progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), multisystem atrophy (MSA), motor neuron diseases (MND), spinocerebellar ataxia (SCA), Huntington’s disease (HD)) and non-demented control groups including a group of patients with muscular disorders (MD). The main outcome measures included statistical analyses of routine CSF parameters. Mildly elevated Qalb were found in a small percentage of nearly all subgroups and in a higher proportion of patients with PSP, MSA, VD, PDD, and MND. With the exception of 1 MND patient, no intrathecal Ig synthesis was observed. Isolated OCBs in CSF were sometimes found in patients with neurodegenerative diseases without elevated cell counts; lactate levels were always normal. A slightly elevated Qalb was observed in a subgroup of patients with neurodegenerative diseases and does not exclude the diagnosis. Extensive elevation of routine parameters is not characteristic and should encourage a re-evaluation of the clinical diagnosis

    The everchanging pulsating white dwarf GD358

    We report 323 hours of nearly uninterrupted time series photometric observations of the DBV star GD 358 acquired with the Whole Earth Telescope (WET) during May 23rd to June 8th, 2000. We acquired more than 232 000 independent measurements. We also report on 48 hours of time-series photometric observations in Aug 1996. We detected the non-radial g-modes consistent with degree l = 1 and radial order 8 to 20 and their linear combinations up to 6th order. We also detect, for the first time, a high amplitude l = 2 mode, with a period of 796 s. In the 2000 WET data, the largest amplitude modes are similar to those detected with the WET observations of 1990 and 1994, but the highest combination order previously detected was 4th order. At one point during the 1996 observations, most of the pulsation energy was transferred into the radial order k = 8 mode, which displayed a sinusoidal pulse shape in spite of the large amplitude. The multiplet structure of the individual modes changes from year to year, and during the 2000 observations only the k = 9 mode displays clear normal triplet structure. Even though the pulsation amplitudes change on timescales of days and years, the eigenfrequencies remain essentially the same, showing the stellar structure is not changing on any dynamical timescale
