ENLACE: A Combination of Layer-Based Architecture and Wireless Communication for Emotion Monitoring in Healthcare

Owing to the increase in the number of people with disabilities, as a result of either accidents or old age, there has been an increase in research studies in the area of ubiquitous computing and the Internet of Things. They are aimed at monitoring health, in an efficient and easily accessible way, as a means of managing and improving the quality of life of this section of the public. It also involves adopting a Health Homes policy based on the Internet of Things and applied in smart home environments. This is aimed at providing connectivity between the patients and their surroundings and includes mechanisms for helping the diagnosis and prevention of accidents and/or diseases. Monitoring gives rise to an opportunity to exploit the way computational systems can help to determine the real-time emotional state of patients. This is necessary because there are some limitations to traditional methods of health monitoring, for example, establishing the behavior of the user’s routine and issuing alerts and warnings to family members and/or medical staff about any abnormal event or signs of the onset of depression. This article discusses how a layer-based architecture can be used to detect emotional factors to assist in healthcare and the prevention of accidents within the context of Smart Home Health. The results show that this process-based architecture allows a load distribution with a better service that takes into account the complexity of each algorithm and the processing power of each layer of the architecture to provide a prompt response when there is a need for some intervention in the emotional state of the user

Structural snapshots of Xer recombination reveal activation by synaptic complex remodeling and DNA bending

Bacterial Xer site-specific recombinases play an essential genome maintenance role by unlinking chromosome multimers, but their mechanism of action has remained structurally uncharacterized. Here, we present two high-resolution structures of Helicobacter pylori XerH with its recombination site DNA difH, representing pre-cleavage and post-cleavage synaptic intermediates in the recombination pathway. The structures reveal that activation of DNA strand cleavage and rejoining involves large conformational changes and DNA bending, suggesting how interaction with the cell division protein FtsK may license recombination at the septum. Together with biochemical and in vivo analysis, our structures also reveal how a small sequence asymmetry in difH defines protein conformation in the synaptic complex and orchestrates the order of DNA strand exchanges. Our results provide insights into the catalytic mechanism of Xer recombination and a model for regulation of recombination activity during cell division

Be pedagogue : the professional choice of pedagogy?s courses.

Este artigo apresenta um recorte da pesquisa ?Por onde andam os ex-alunos do curso de Pedagogia/UFOP? Conhecendo a trajet?ria e o lugar profissional desses egressos? que investigou a fun??o profissional dos concluintes do curso de Pedagogia, formados ap?s a implanta??o da Resolu??o CNE/CP n? 1/2006. O estudo, de abordagem qualitativa, fez uso da an?lise documental, da pesquisa bibliogr?fica e de campo. Na coleta de dados foi utilizado um question?rio on-line destinado aos 145 egressos que se formaram entre 2012 e 2015. Identificamos que 75,7% dos egressos est?o trabalhando; 72,9% atuam na ?rea educacional; 51,4% em institui??o p?blica. O fator que mais influenciou a escolha pela Pedagogia foi a identifica??o com a ?rea e o ambiente educacional. Dos egressos, 70% se encontram satisfeitos com a profiss?o e 85,7% se declararam satisfeitos com sua escolha, contudo, as m?s condi??es e a precariza??o do trabalho docente s?o os fatores que justificam a insatisfa??o destacada por alguns.This article presents a review of the research "Where are the alumni of the course of Pedagogy/UFOP? Knowing the trajectory and the professional place of these graduates" that investigated the professional function of the graduates of the Pedagogy course, formed after the implementation of Resolution CNE/CP n? 1/2006. The research of qualitative approach made use of documentary analysis, bibliographical and field research. In the data collection, an online questionnaire was used for the 145 graduates who graduated between 2012 and 2015. We identified that 75.7% of the graduates are working; 72.9% work in the educational area; 51.4% in a public institution. The factor that most influenced the choice for Pedagogy was the identification with the area and the educational environment. Of the graduates, 70% are satisfied with the profession and 85.7% declared themselves satisfied with their choice, however, the poor conditions and the precariousness of the teaching work are the factors that justify the dissatisfaction highlighted by some

O trabalho apresenta um recorte da pesquisa que teve como objetivo investigar a fun??o profissional que os egressos do curso de Pedagogia formados ap?s a implanta??o do novo curr?culo estabelecido pela Resolu??o CNE/CP n? 1/2006 est?o exercendo. Este texto avalia a forma??o oferecida no curso de Pedagogia da UFOP sob a ?tica de seus egressos. A pesquisa de abordagem qualitativa fez uso da an?lise documental; da pesquisa bibliogr?fica e da pesquisa de campo que utilizou um question?rio on-line para coletar os dados dos 145 egressos que se formaram entre 2012 e 2015. Os dados coletados foram tratados segundo a an?lise de conte?do e a partir das respostas de 70 egressos identificamos que o conceito ?bom? se sobressai ao avaliarem o projeto pol?tico pedag?gico, o curr?culo e a condi??o material da institui??o, mas h? lacunas relativas ? forma??o para atuar na Educa??o Infantil e na Gest?o. Na vis?o de 62,8% a forma??o inicial os preparou para o mercado de trabalho e para melhorar o curso de Pedagogia, os egressos consideraram que se faz necess?rio rever o curr?culo.The paper presents a research cut that aimed to investigate the professional function that the graduates of the Pedagogy course formed after the implementation of the new curriculum established by Resolution CNE / CP n? 1/2006 are exercising. This text evaluates the training offered in the course of Pedagogy of UFOP from the perspective of its graduates. The research of qualitative approach made use of documentary analysis; bibliographic research and field research that used an online questionnaire to collect the data of the 145 graduates who graduated between 2012 and 2015. The data collected were treated according to content analysis and from the responses of 70 graduates we identified that the "good" concept stands out when evaluating the pedagogical political project, the curriculum and the material condition of the institution, but there are gapsrelated to the training to work in Early Childhood Education and Management. In the view of 62.8% the initial training prepared them for the job market and to improve the course of Pedagogy, the graduates considered that it is necessary to review the curriculum

Um estudo com egressos do curso de pedagogia : avaliando a forma??o inicial.

O estudo apresenta um recorte da pesquisa que teve como objetivo investigar a fun??o profissional que os egressos do curso de Pedagogia, formados ap?s a Resolu??o CNE/CP n? 1/2006, est?o exercendo. Este texto avalia a forma??o oferecida no curso de Pedagogia da UFOP sob a ?tica de seus egressos. A pesquisa de abordagem qualitativa fez uso da an?lise documental, pesquisa bibliogr?fica e pesquisa de campo que utilizou um question?rio on-line em 145 egressos formados entre 2012 e 2015. Com base nas respostas de 70 egressos identificamos que esse grupo se constitui, em sua maioria, por mulheres, naturais da regi?o onde a IES est? inserida, de cor branca e parda, solteiras. Em geral avaliam bem o curso nos quesitos projeto pedag?gico, matriz curricular, estrutura f?sica, apontando como ?timo o corpo docente. Confronting law affectively: encounters of a Patpong sex tourist

When considering spaces of sex-work such as Patpong in Bangkok, Thailand, the inclination is to be drawn into habitual debates concerning the legitimacy of sex-work and the clear objectification of sex-workers. While these concerns are valid and real, there are significant absences in terms of the theoretical mapping of the space, such as the affect of the presence of law, bodies, space and the sexual encounter itself. Law emerges as the most significant presence, since it both forms the transactional surface of Patpong and produces the confusion and revilement that results from the confluence of cold legal exchange with the tactile intimacy of the sexual encounter. This text explores the ethnographic space of Patpong in order to understand ways in which law’s transactional, effective surface is both embodied through subjectivication and spatially emplaced, yet also disrupted through the affective agency of the bodies and spaces it enfolds in order to produce this surface. This exploration will point to the limitations of law’s effective surface and suggest ways in which law might be located within a regime of affect, which returns the law to the body it subjectivises

Deep soils modify environmental consequences of increased nitrogen fertilizer use in intensifying Amazon agriculture

Agricultural intensification offers potential to grow more food while reducing the conversion of native ecosystems to croplands. However, intensification also risks environmental degradation through emissions of the greenhouse gas nitrous oxide (N2O) and nitrate leaching to ground and surface waters. Intensively-managed croplands and nitrogen (N) fertilizer use are expanding rapidly in tropical regions. We quantified fertilizer responses of maize yield, N2O emissions, and N leaching in an Amazon soybean-maize double-cropping system on deep, highly-weathered soils in Mato Grosso, Brazil. Application of N fertilizer above 80 kg N ha−1 yr−1 increased maize yield and N2O emissions only slightly. Unlike experiences in temperate regions, leached nitrate accumulated in deep soils with increased fertilizer and conversion to cropping at N fertilization rates \u3e80 kg N ha−1, which exceeded maize demand. This raises new questions about the capacity of tropical agricultural soils to store nitrogen, which may determine when and how much nitrogen impacts surface waters

Este trabalho objetivou avaliar o efeito da flex?o estimada dos cilindros na lamina??o de encruamento sobre a varia??o da planicidade de tiras laminadas a quente. Isto foi realizado atrav?s de experimentos industriais com varia??o dos par?metros de for?a de lamina??o e de dobramento durante processamento no laminador de encruamento, em que se buscou correlacionar os resultados estimados de flex?o com os resultados observados de varia??o de planicidade. Foi confirmada a rela??o entre a flex?o dos cilindros e a planicidade, praticamente sem varia??o da planicidade quando o perfil transversal da tira e a flex?o dos cilindros eram coerentes e com a varia??o da planicidade aumentando ? medida que se aumentava esta incoer?ncia.Roll bending during rolling can be the cause and the solution for flatness defects through differential rolling across the strip width. This work aims to evaluate the effect of skin pass roll bending in flatness changes of hot rolled strips. This was done through industrial experiments with process parameters changings of rolling force and bending forces in the skin pass mill, correlating the estimated result of roll bending with the observed flatness changes. The results confirmed the relationship between roll bending and flatness, practically without flatness changes when the cross section of the strip and the roll bending was coherent and with flatness changes increasing with the increase of this incoherence
