    Efecto del porcentaje de inclusión de lisina sobre la productividad en cerdos de cebo

    Las necesidades en lisina (Lys) de cerdos de altos crecimientos sacrificados para venta en fresco han sido estudiadas en detalle (NRC, 1998; BSAS, 2003; Fedna, 2006). Sin embargo, las necesidades de cerdos destinados a la obtención de productos curados, en los que se precisa obtener canales con porcentajes de grasa óptimos, han sido poco estudiadas (Beaulie et al., 2009). A ello hay que sumarle que en los últimos años la genética se ha centrado en mejorar la eficiencia alimenticia, lo que en muchos casos penaliza el contenido graso de las partes nobles (Blanchard et al., 1999; Latorre et al., 2003). Conocer las necesidades en Lys de cerdos de alta producción es clave; un déficit de Lys conlleva un menor crecimiento mientras que el exceso es caro. Por ello, el objetivo de este estudio fue estudiar el efecto del nivel de inclusión de Lys sobre los rendimientos productivos en cerdos de alta selección sacrificados a 113 kg destinados a la producción de productos curados

    Diagnostic accuracy of different ultrasound signs for detecting adnexal torsion: systematic review and meta-analysis

    Objective. To evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of different ultrasound signs for diagnosing adnexal torsion (AT), using surgery as the reference standard. Methods. A search was performed in PubMed/MEDLINE, CINAHL, Scopus, Cochrane, ClinicalTrials.gov and Web of Science databases (January 1990 to November 2021) for studies evaluating the presence of ovarian edema, an adnexal mass, Doppler flow findings and the whirlpool sign as ultrasound signs (index tests) for detecting AT, using surgical findings as reference standard. The Quality Assessment of Diagnostic Accuracy Studies-2 (QUADAS-2) tool was used to evaluate the quality of the studies. Pooled sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative likelihood ratios were calculated separately, and the post-test probability of AT following a positive or negative test also was determined. Results. The search identified 1267 citations after excluding duplicates. Twenty studies were ultimately included in the qualitative and quantitative syntheses. Ten studies, comprising 983 patients, analyzed ovarian edema. Eleven studies, comprising 1295 patients, analyzed the presence of adnexal mass. Fifteen studies, comprising 2212 patients, analyzed the Doppler flow. Finally, seven studies, comprising 654 patients, analyzed whirlpool sign. Overall, quality was considered as moderate or good for most studies. However, there is a high risk of bias in Patient Selection and Index text (except for whirlpool sign) in a significant proportion of studies. Pooled sensitivity, specificity and positive and negative likelihood ratios of each ultrasound sign were 58%, 86%,4.0 and 0.49 for ovarian edema, 69%, 43%, 1.3 and 0.67 for adnexal mass, 65%, 92%, 8.0 and 0.38 for whirlpool sign, 53%, 95%, 11.0 and 0.49 for Doppler findings and 55%, 69%, 1.7 and 0.66 for pelvic fluid. Heterogeneity was high for all them. Conclusion. Diagnostic accuracy of the presence of an adnexal mass or pelvic fluid as ultrasound signs for suspecting an adnexal torsion is moderate, while the presence of ovarian edema, whirlpool sign and decreased or absent Doppler flow show good specificit

    Microstructural characterization of alumina-zirconia layered ceramics using positron annihilation spectroscopy

    Positron annihilation spectroscopy (PAS), indentation, nanoindentation experiments and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) observations were performed on Al₂O₃-ZrO₂ laminates samples to assess the effect of residual stresses on their mechanical and microstructural properties. Layered samples were implemented by slip-casting, constituted by two thin Al₂O₃ external layers and an intermediate thick one, consisting of a mixture of Al₂O₃ and monoclinic ZrO₂ in the range 0-30 vol.%. In these systems residual tensile stresses fields were generated inside the external layers during cooling from the sintering temperature, by the expansion of the adjacent ZrO₂-containing layer. SEM observations showed the microstructural effects due to the level of tension related to the zirconia content. A correlation between the PAS parameters and the microstructural changes caused by the presence of residual stresses was found. Nanoindentation measurements were used to trace the sign and magnitude of the residual stress gradient across the interface between the layers.This work was supported by Spanish Government under Contract MAT2006-01038.     Landau-Zener and Rabi oscillations in the spin-dependent conductance

    We describe the spin-dependent quantum conductance in a wire where a magnetic field is spatially modulated. The changes in direction and intensity of the magnetic field acts as a perturbation that mixes spin projections. This is exemplified by a ferromagnetic nanowire. There the local field varies smoothly its direction generating a domain wall (DW) as described by the well known Cabrera-Falicov model. Here, we generalize this model to include also a strength modulation. We identify two striking diabatic regimes that appear when such magnetic inhogeneity occurs. 1) If the field strength at the DW is weak enough the local Zeeman energies result in an avoided crossing. Thus, the spin flip probability follows the Landau-Zener formula. 2) For strong fields, the spin-dependent conductance shows oscillations as function of the DW width. We interpret them in terms of Rabi oscillations. Time and length scales obtained from this simplified view show an excellent agreement with the exact dynamical solution of the spin-dependent transport.     Polyoxometalates as potential next‐generation metallodrugs in the combat against cancer

    Polyoxometalates (POMs) are an emerging class of inorganic metal oxides, which over the last decades demonstrated promising biological activities by the virtue of their great diversity in structures and properties. They possess high potential for the inhibition of various tumor types; however, their unspecific interactions with biomolecules and toxicity impede their clinical usage. The current focus of the field of biologically active POMs lies on organically functionalized and POM-based nanocomposite structures as these hybrids show enhanced anticancer activity and significantly reduced toxicity towards normal cells in comparison to unmodified POMs. Although the antitumor activity of POMs is well documented, their mechanisms of action are still not well understood. In this Review, an overview is given of the cytotoxic effects of POMs with a special focus on POM-based hybrid and nanocomposite structures. Furthermore, we aim to provide proposed mode of actions and to identify molecular targets.     Developing an inventory to measure anger in mexican children/ desarrollo de un inventario para la medición de la ira en niños mexicanos/ desenvolvimento de um inventário para a mediação da ira em crianças mexicanas

    Based on the state-trait model of anger (Spielberger, 1988, 1999), the aim was to develop a reliable and valid inventory to measure anger in Mexican children. Exploratory factor analyses on responses from 592 children (302 boys, 290 girls) (M=10.35 years old, SD=1.14) revealed four factors suggesting construct validity: 6-item state anger (e.g., "I am upset"), 5-item trait-temperament (e.g., "I get mad easily"), 7-item angerout (e.g., "I fight with whoever made me mad"), and 12-item anger control (e.g., "I try to relax"). Alpha reliabilities were .76, .76, .73, and .88, respectively. Anger control correlated negatively with other factors, whereas other factors correlated positively with each other. The inventory also had concurrent validity with an instrument that measured physical aggression
