Stellar escapers from M67 can reach solar-like Galactic orbits
We investigate the possibility that the Sun could have been born in M67 by
carrying out -body simulations of M67-like clusters in a time-varying
Galactic environment, and following the galactic orbits of stars that escape
from them. We find that model clusters that occupy similar orbits to M67 today
can be divided up into three groups. Hot clusters are born with a high initial
-velocity, depleted clusters are born on cold orbits but are destroyed by
GMC encounters in the Galactic disc, and scattered clusters are born on cold
orbits and survive with more than 1000 stars at an age of 4.6 Gyr. We find that
all cluster models in all three cluster groups have stellar escapers that are
kinematicaly similar to the Sun. Hot clusters having the lowest such fraction
%, whilst depleted clusters have the highest fraction,
%. We calculate that clusters that are destroyed in the
Galactic disc have a specific frequency of escapers that end up on solar-like
orbits that is 2 times that of escapers from clusters that survive their
journey
A Pulse Shaping Algorithm of a Coherent Matter Wave. Controlling Reaction Dynamics
A pulse shaping algorithm for a matter wave with the purpose of controlling a
binary reaction has been designed. The scheme is illustrated for an Eley-Rideal
reaction where an impinging matter-wave atom recombines with an adsorbed atom
on a metal surface. The wave function of the impinging atom is shaped such that
the desorbing molecule leaves the surface in a specific vibrational state.Comment: 4 pages, 5 figure
Single wall carbon nanotube double quantum dot
We report on two top-gate defined, coupled quantum dots in a semiconducting
single wall carbon nanotube, constituting a tunable double quantum dot system.
The single wall carbon nanotubes are contacted by titanium electrodes, and
gated by three narrow top-gate electrodes as well as a back-gate. We show that
a bias spectroscopy plot on just one of the two quantum dots can be used to
extract the addition energy of both quantum dots. Furthermore, honeycomb charge
stability diagrams are analyzed by an electrostatic capacitor model that
includes cross capacitances, and we extract the coupling energy of the double

Power filtration of CMB observational data
We propose a power filter Gp for linear reconstruction of the CMB signal from
observational maps. This Gp filter preserves the power spectrum of the CMB
signal in contrast to the Wiener filter which diminishes the power spectrum of
the reconstructed CMB signal. We demonstrate how peak statistics and a cluster
analysis can be used to estimate the probability of the presence of a CMB
signal in observational records. The efficiency of the Gp filter is
demonstrated on a toy model of an observational record consisting of a CMB

Deep-diving by narwhals Monodon monoceros: differences in foraging behavior between wintering areas?
Spatially resolved spectroscopy of Coma cluster early-type galaxies - II:the minor axis dataset
We present minor axis, off set major axis and one diagonal long slit spectra for 10 E and S0 galaxies of the Coma cluster drawn from a magnitude-limited sample studied before. We derive rotation curves, velocity dispersion profiles and the H-3 and H-4 coefficients of the Hermite decomposition of the line of sight velocity distribution. Moreover, we derive the line index profiles of Mg, Fe and Hbeta line indices and assess their errors. The data will be used to construct dynamical models of the galaxies and study their stellar populations
Generalised Moore spectra in a triangulated category
In this paper we consider a construction in an arbitrary triangulated
category T which resembles the notion of a Moore spectrum in algebraic
topology. Namely, given a compact object C of T satisfying some finite tilting
assumptions, we obtain a functor which "approximates" objects of the module
category of the endomorphism algebra of C in T. This generalises and extends a
construction of Jorgensen in connection with lifts of certain homological
functors of derived categories. We show that this new functor is well-behaved
with respect to short exact sequences and distinguished triangles, and as a
consequence we obtain a new way of embedding the module category in a
triangulated category. As an example of the theory, we recover Keller's
canonical embedding of the module category of a path algebra of a quiver with

Abundance and distribution of narwhals (Monodon monoceros) on the summering grounds in Greenland between 2007-2019
Narwhal abundance in West Greenland (WG) and East Greenland (EG) was estimated from aerial surveys conducted between 2007 and 2019 at their summer grounds. Analyses were completed using Mark Recapture Distance Sampling and Hidden Markov Line Transect Models taking account of the stochastic availability of diving whales. No statistically significant difference in abundance of narwhals could be detected for the two summer grounds (Melville Bay and Inglefield Bredning) in WG between 2007 and 2019. The distribution of narwhals in Inglefield Bredning was similar between years but in Melville Bay, area usage has decreased >80% since the first survey in 2007. Few detections of narwhals were obtained during the surveys in EG and a common detection function was fitted from combining sightings from seven surveys. Narwhals were found in small aggregations distributed between Nordostrundingen and south to and including Tasiilaq. Abundance of narwhals was estimated for the first time in the relatively unexplored Northeast Greenland (Dove Bay and a restricted coastal area of the Greenland Sea). The abundance in these two areas was 2908 narwhals (CV=0.30; 95% CI:1639-5168) estimated in 2017 for the Greenland Sea and 2297 (0.38; 1123-4745) and 1395 (0.33; 744-2641) narwhals were estimated for Dove Bay in 2017 and 2018, respectively. Both abundance and distribution range of narwhals in Southeast Greenland, where narwhals are subject to subsistence harvest, has decreased significantly between 2008-2017 and narwhals have even disappeared at the southernmost area since the first surveys in 2008.Peer reviewe
Convex optimization problem prototyping for image reconstruction in computed tomography with the Chambolle-Pock algorithm
The primal-dual optimization algorithm developed in Chambolle and Pock (CP),
2011 is applied to various convex optimization problems of interest in computed
tomography (CT) image reconstruction. This algorithm allows for rapid
prototyping of optimization problems for the purpose of designing iterative
image reconstruction algorithms for CT. The primal-dual algorithm is briefly
summarized in the article, and its potential for prototyping is demonstrated by
explicitly deriving CP algorithm instances for many optimization problems
relevant to CT. An example application modeling breast CT with low-intensity

Herschel-HIFI observations of high-J CO lines in the NGC 1333 low-mass star-forming region
Herschel-HIFI observations of high-J lines (up to J_u=10) of 12CO, 13CO and
C18O are presented toward three deeply embedded low-mass protostars, NGC 1333
IRAS 2A, IRAS 4A, and IRAS 4B, obtained as part of the Water In Star-forming
regions with Herschel (WISH) key program. The spectrally-resolved HIFI data are
complemented by ground-based observations of lower-J CO and isotopologue lines.
The 12CO 10-9 profiles are dominated by broad (FWHM 25-30 km s^-1) emission.
Radiative transfer models are used to constrain the temperature of this shocked
gas to 100-200 K. Several CO and 13CO line profiles also reveal a medium-broad
component (FWHM 5-10 km s^-1), seen prominently in H2O lines. Column densities
for both components are presented, providing a reference for determining
abundances of other molecules in the same gas. The narrow C18O 9-8 lines probe
the warmer part of the quiescent envelope. Their intensities require a jump in
the CO abundance at an evaporation temperature around 25 K, thus providing new
direct evidence for a CO ice evaporation zone around low-mass protostars.Comment: 8 pages, 9 figure
