    Herschel/SPIRE Sub-millimeter Spectra of Local Active Galaxies

    We present the sub-millimeter spectra from 450 GHz to 1550 GHz of eleven nearby active galaxies observed with the SPIRE Fourier Transform Spectrometer (SPIRE/FTS) onboard Herschel. We detect CO transitions from J_up = 4 to 12, as well as the two [CI] fine structure lines at 492 and 809 GHz and the [NII] 461 GHz line. We used radiative transfer models to analyze the observed CO spectral line energy distributions (SLEDs). The FTS CO data were complemented with ground-based observations of the low-J CO lines. We found that the warm molecular gas traced by the mid-J CO transitions has similar physical conditions (n_H2 ~ 10^3.2 - 10^3.9 cm^-3 and T_kin ~ 300 - 800 K) in most of our galaxies. Furthermore, we found that this warm gas is likely producing the mid-IR rotational H2 emission. We could not determine the specific heating mechanism of the warm gas, however it is possibly related to the star-formation activity in these galaxies. Our modeling of the [CI] emission suggests that it is produced in cold (T_kin 10^3 cm^-3) molecular gas. Transitions of other molecules are often detected in our SPIRE/FTS spectra. The HF J=1-0 transition at 1232 GHz is detected in absorption in UGC05101 and in emission in NGC7130. In the latter, near-infrared pumping, chemical pumping, or collisional excitation with electrons are plausible excitation mechanisms likely related to the AGN of this galaxy. In some galaxies few H2O emission lines are present. Additionally, three OH+ lines at 909, 971, and 1033 GHz are identified in NGC7130.Comment: Accepted for publication in ApJ; 20 pages, 9 figure

    Observations of Arp 220 using Herschel-SPIRE: An Unprecedented View of the Molecular Gas in an Extreme Star Formation Environment

    We present Herschel SPIRE-FTS observations of Arp~220, a nearby ULIRG. The FTS continuously covers 190 -- 670 microns, providing a good measurement of the continuum and detection of several molecular and atomic species. We detect luminous CO (J = 4-3 to 13-12) and water ladders with comparable total luminosity; very high-J HCN absorption; OH+, H2O+, and HF in absorption; and CI and NII. Modeling of the continuum yields warm dust, with T = 66 K, and an unusually large optical depth of ~5 at 100 microns. Non-LTE modeling of the CO shows two temperature components: cold molecular gas at T ~ 50 K and warm molecular gas at T ~1350 K. The mass of the warm gas is 10% of the cold gas, but dominates the luminosity of the CO ladder. The temperature of the warm gas is in excellent agreement with H2 rotational lines. At 1350 K, H2 dominates the cooling (~20 L_sun/M_sun) in the ISM compared to CO (~0.4 L_sun/M_sun). We found that only a non-ionizing source such as the mechanical energy from supernovae and stellar winds can excite the warm gas and satisfy the energy budget of ~20 L_sun/M_sun. We detect a massive molecular outflow in Arp 220 from the analysis of strong P-Cygni line profiles observed in OH+, H2O+, and H2O. The outflow has a mass > 10^{7} M_sun and is bound to the nuclei with velocity < 250 km/s. The large column densities observed for these molecular ions strongly favor the existence of an X-ray luminous AGN (10^{44} ergs/s) in Arp 220.Comment: Accepted in ApJ on September 1, 201

    Стаття присвячена дослідженням структури порушених земель, на ділянках з видобутку корисних копалин відкритим способом. Наведено площі порушень земель при розробці основних видів корисних копалин. Проаналізовано ризики, що виникають із несвоєчасною рекультивацією земель гірничого відводу, а також від покинутих гірничих виробок старих кар'єрів. Паралельно розглянуті обсяги відходів гірничого виробництва та їх повторне використання в якості заповнювача для залишкових вироблених просторів кар'єрів.The article is devoted to the research of land violation indicators at the extraction of minerals by surface mining method. Data gives about the land violations area at the mining key minerals. Ana-lyzed the risks from the not-on-time reclamation of the mining clam and abandoned excavations of the old quarries. In parallel considered the volumes of mining wastes and their reuse as aggregate for filling residual spaces of surface mines.Статья посвящена исследованиям площадей нарушения земель, связанных с добычей полезных ископаемых открытым способом. Приведены площади нарушений земель при разработке основных видов полезных ископаемых.     Implicit Personality and Big Five Traits in Equity Crowdfunding

    Implicit personality representations play a crucial role in shaping how investors perceive entrepreneurs and subsequently invest in their projects. We investigate the relationship between perceived Big Five personality signals and funding success utilizing a sample of 709 US-based equity crowdfunding campaigns. We find that higher conscientiousness, lower neuroticism, extraversion, and openness serve as funding success signals, significantly affecting both the funding level and number of investors attracted. This study extends the literature on the relationship between perceived personality signals and entrepreneurial finance by demonstrating the context-dependence of personality signals. The results fuel arguments that equity crowdfunding gears towards classical venture financing and is less comparable to reward-based crowdfunding

    The dissociation of hierarchically formed dimeric triple‐lithium bridged triscatecholate titanium(IV) helicates with hydrocarbyl esters as side groups is systematically investigated in DMSO. Primary alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl as well as benzyl esters are studied in order to minimize steric effects close to the helicate core. The 1H NMR dimerization constants for the monomer/dimer equilibrium show some solvent dependent influence of the side chains on the dimer stability. In the dimer, the ability of the hydrocarbyl ester groups to aggregate minimizes their contacts with the solvent molecules. Due to this, most solvophobic alkyl groups show the highest dimerization tendency followed by alkenyls, alkynyls and finally benzyls. Furthermore, trends within the different groups of compounds can be observed. E.g., the dimer is destabilized by internal double or triple bonds due to π−π repulsion. A strong indication for solvent supported London dispersion interaction between the ester side groups is found by observation of an even/odd alternation of dimerization constants within the series of n‐alkyls, n‐Ω‐alkenyls or n‐Ω‐alkynyls. This corresponds to the interaction of the parent hydrocarbons as documented by an even/odd melting point alternation.peerReviewe

    EBV renders B cells susceptible to HIV-1 in humanized mice

    HIV and EBV are human pathogens that cause a considerable burden to worldwide health. In combination, these viruses are linked to AIDS-associated lymphomas. We found that EBV, which transforms B cells, renders them susceptible to HIV-1 infection in a CXCR4 and CD4-dependent manner in vitro and that CXCR4-tropic HIV-1 integrates into the genome of these B cells with the same molecular profile as in autologous CD4+^{+} T cells. In addition, we established a humanized mouse model to investigate the in vivo interactions of EBV and HIV-1 upon coinfection. The respective mice that reconstitute human immune system components upon transplantation with CD34+^{+} human hematopoietic progenitor cells could recapitulate aspects of EBV and HIV immunobiology observed in dual-infected patients. Upon coinfection of humanized mice, EBV/HIV dual-infected B cells could be detected, but were susceptible to CD8+^{+} T-cell-mediated immune control

Die Häufigkeit des EH und die klinischen Charakteristika von EH Patienten wurden bisher noch nicht in einer größeren Kohorte untersucht. Methodik 87 Patienten des TREATgermany Registers, einem multizentrischen, nichtinterventionellen klinischen Register mit moderat bis schwer betroffenen AD-Patienten in Deutschland, wurden in dieser Analyse betrachtet. Patienten, die zwischen Dezember 2017 und April 2021 in das Register eingeschlossen wurden, wurden unterteilt in die Gruppen ohne, mit einem und mit mehreren EH und basierend auf den klinischen Charakteristika verglichen. Ergebnisse Von 893 Patienten berichteten 195 (21,8%) über mindestens eine EH. 107 der 195 Patienten mit EH hatten sogar mehrere EH in der Anamnese (54,9%), was 12,0% der gesamten Studienpopulation entspricht. Während hinsichtlich demographischer Merkmale, Vorbehandlungen und Krankheitsscores (Juckreiz, IGA, oSCORAD, EASI) keine Unterschiede festgestellt wurden, litten Patienten mit EH häufiger an atopischen Begleiterkrankungen und Sensibilisierungen gegen Hausstaubmilben, Nahrungsmittel und Schimmelpilze. Schlussfolgerungen Die Daten des TREATgermany-Registers deuten auf eine hohe Prävalenz und Rezidivrate des EH hin, während es neben einer Häufung von Allergien keinen spezifischen klinischen Phänotyp zu geben scheint, um EH-Patienten in der täglichen Routine zu identifizieren

The frequency of EH and the clinical features of EH patients have not yet been investigated in a larger cohort.MethodsWe sought to investigate the TREATgermany cohort, a multicenter, non-interventional clinical registry of moderately to severely affected AD patients in Germany. Baseline characteristics of patients included between December 2017 and April 2021 were compared between patients without, single, and multiple EH.ResultsOf the 893 patients, 195 (21.8%) had at least one EH. Of the 195 patients with EH, 107 had multiple EH (54.9%), representing 12.0% of the total study population. While there were no differences in demographic characteristics, previous treatment, and disease scores at enrollment (itch, IGA, oSCORAD, EASI), patients with EH had more frequent atopic comorbidities and sensitizations to house dust mite, food, and mold.DiscussionTREATgermany registry data suggest a high prevalence and recurrence rate of EH, while there appears to be no specific clinical phenotype, besides an increase in allergies, to identify EH patients in the daily routine

    TREATgermany is an investigator-initiated prospective disease registry. It investigates physician- and patient-reported disease severity (Eczema Area and Severity Index (EASI), objective Scoring Atopic Dermatitis (oSCORAD), Investigator Global Assessment, Patient-Oriented Eczema Measure (POEM), Patient Global Assessment (PGA)), patient-reported symptoms (itch, sleep loss, depressive symptoms), therapy courses and dermatological quality of life (DLQI) in moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis with SCORAD > 20. 1,134 atopic dermatitis patients (mean age 41.0 ± 14.7 years, 42.5% females) were enrolled by 40 German recruiting sites (dermatological clinics and practices) between June 2016 and April 2021. The current analysis focuses on itch scores obtained with a numerical rating scale (NRS)) documented for the previous 3 days prior to baseline visit. The results show that 97.2% (1,090 of 1,121) patients experienced itch. Itch severity correlated moderately with severity of atopic dermatitis oSCORAD (rho = 0.44 (0.39–0.48)) and EASI score (rho = 0.41 (0.36–0.46)). A strong correlation was found with self-reported disease severity as PGA (rho = 0.68 (0.65–0.71)), POEM sum score (rho = 0.66 (0.63–0.69)) and dermatological quality of life impairment DLQI (rho = 0.61 (0.57–0.65)). Itch as a subjective complaint is more closely correlated with patient-reported outcomes than with objective assessments by the physician
