Ground state cooling of atoms in optical lattices
We propose two schemes for cooling bosonic and fermionic atoms that are
trapped in a deep optical lattice. The first scheme is a quantum algorithm
based on particle number filtering and state dependent lattice shifts. The
second protocol alternates filtering with a redistribution of particles by
means of quantum tunnelling. We provide a complete theoretical analysis of both
schemes and characterize the cooling efficiency in terms of the entropy. Our
schemes do not require addressing of single lattice sites and use a novel
method, which is based on coherent laser control, to perform very fast
filtering.Comment: 12 pages, 7 figure
Promotion of the Russian language abroad as a means of storing historical memory
The authors consider the promotion of the Russian language abroad as a basis for preserving historical memory. In the context of an increase in attempts to distort history and establish obstacles to communication between peoples of different countries, a constant search for effective means of intercultural interaction and the development of new commemorative practices is necessary. All kinds of game, design and competitive activities that are implemented on the basis of digital technologies today, such as promoting the Russian language abroad and preserving historical memory, are becoming such means today. The promotion of the Russian language, the transfer and preservation of historical knowledge provide an opportunity for intercultural exchange and understanding of the causes of people's actions, and therefore they are an effective means of developing international cooperation and international security. The implementation of the youth project βLiving Historyβ and the network cultural and educational project βIntercultural Dialogue in Russianβ illustrates the expansion of the number and improvement of the means and methods of promoting the Russian language and preserving historical memory, as an important direction in shaping the youthβs consciousness in different countries international communication and respect for citizens of other states becomes a natural and conscious quality of a person, which creates the conditions for international cooperation and peace on the planet. Research problem: what innovative methods can be used to promote the Russian language abroad and preserve historical memory? Purpose: to study and present the relationship between the processes of promoting the Russian language abroad and preserving historical memory, using the experience of using the project approach and digital technologies at the Ural State Pedagogical University. The methodological basis of the study is the methods of system analysis, theoretical generalization, analysis and synthesis, description, systematization, abstraction and others that were used to process and present information. Main results: the article substantiates the need of modern Russia to step up work to promote the Russian language abroad and preserve the memory of the history of Russia and its role in world history events as a significant direction in the formation of international security and international cooperation, the experience of using projects in the field of promotion is presented Russian language abroad and preservation of historical memory using digital technologies. The novelty of the study lies in the analysis of the relationship between the processes of promoting the Russian language abroad and the preservation of historical memory and presenting them as an innovative, effective means of shaping international security and international cooperation. Practical and theoretical significance of the results: the authors showed the ability to effectively use attractive for youth design, creative, game and competitive forms of educational and cultural activities, the use of digital technologies in them to promote the Russian language abroad and preserve historical memory.ΠΠ²ΡΠΎΡΡ ΡΠ°ΡΡΠΌΠ°ΡΡΠΈΠ²Π°ΡΡ ΠΏΡΠΎΠ΄Π²ΠΈΠΆΠ΅Π½ΠΈΠ΅ ΡΡΡΡΠΊΠΎΠ³ΠΎ ΡΠ·ΡΠΊΠ° Π·Π° ΡΡΠ±Π΅ΠΆΠΎΠΌ ΠΊΠ°ΠΊ ΠΎΡΠ½ΠΎΠ²Ρ Π΄Π»Ρ ΡΠΎΡ

Transdifferentiation of blood-derived human adult endothelial progenitor cells into functionally active cardiomyocytes
Background - Further to promoting angiogenesis, cell therapy may be an approach for cardiac regeneration. Recent studies suggest that progenitor cells can transdifferentiate into other lineages. However, the transdifferentiation potential of endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) is unknown
HD DVD substrates for surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy analysis : fabrication, theoretical predictions and practical performance
Commercial HD DVDs provide a characteristic structure of encoding pits which were utilized to fabricate cost efficiently large area SERS substrates for chemical analysis. The study targets the simulation of the plasmonic structure of the substrates and presents an easily accessible fabrication process to obtain highly sensitive SERS active substrates. The theoretical simulation predicted the formation of supermodes under optimized illumination conditions, which were verified experimentally. First tests of the developed SERS substrates demonstrated their excellent potential for detecting vitamin A and pro- vitamin A at low concentration levels
Postpartum osteoporosis associated with proximal tibial stress fracture
A 33-year-old woman presented with acute nonspecific knee pain, 6months postpartum. MR imaging, computed tomography and radiography were performed and a proximal tibia plateau insufficiency fracture was detected. Bone densitometry demonstrated mild postpartum osteoporosis. To our knowledge these findings have not been described in this location and in this clinical setting. The etiology of the atraumatic fracture of the tibia is presumed to be due to a low bone mineral density. The bone loss was probably due to pregnancy, lactation and postpartum hormonal changes. There were no other inciting causes and the patient was normocalcemic. We discuss the presence of a postpartum stress fracture in a hitherto undescribed site in a patient who had lactated following an uncomplicated pregnancy and had no other identifiable cause for a stress fractur
