Fast ignition of fusion targets by laser-driven electrons

We present hybrid PIC simulations of fast electron transport and energy deposition in pre-compressed fusion targets, taking full account of collective magnetic effects and the hydrodynamic response of the background plasma. Results on actual ignition of an imploded fast ignition configuration are shown accounting for the increased beam divergence found in recent experiments [J.S. Green et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 100, 015003 (2008)] and the reduction of the electron kinetic energy due to profile steepening predicted by advanced PIC simulations [B. Chrisman et al. Phys. Plasmas 15, 056309 (2008)]. Target ignition is studied as a function of injected electron energy, distance of cone-tip to dense core, initial divergence and kinetic energy of the relativistic electron beam. We found that beam collimation reduces substantially the ignition energies of the cone-guided fuel configuration assumed here.Comment: 15 pages, 9 figures. accepted for publication in Plasma Physics and Controlled Fusio

Fast ignition of inertial fusion targets by laser-driven carbon beams

Two-dimensional simulations of ion beam driven fast ignition are presented. Ignition energies of protons with Maxwellian spectrum and carbon ions with quasimonoenergetic and Maxwellian energy distributions are evaluated. The effect of the coronal plasma surrounding the compressed deuterium-tritium is studied for three different fuel density distributions. It is found that quasi- monoenergetic ions have better coupling with the compressed deuterium-tritium and substantially lower ignition energies. Comparison of quasimonoenergetic carbon ions and relativistic electrons as ignitor beams shows similar laser energy requirements, provided that a laser to quasimonoenergetic carbon ion conversion efficiency around 10% can be achieved.Comment: 8 pages, 10 figures, published in Physics of Plasma

Pathological video game playing in Spanish and British adolescents: towards the exploration of Internet Gaming Disorder symptomatology

Research into problematic video gaming has increased greatly over the last decade and many screening instruments have been developed to identify such behaviour. This study re-examined the Problematic Videogame Playing [PVP] Scale. The objectives of the study were to (i) examine its psychometric properties in two European countries, (ii) estimate the prevalence of potential pathological gaming among adolescents in both countries, and (iii) assess the classification accuracy of the PVP Scale based on its symptomatology as a way of exploring its relationship with both the behavioural component model of addiction and the proposed Internet Gaming Disorder. The data were collected via a survey administered to 2,356 adolescents aged between 11 and 18 years from Spain (n=1,132) and Great Britain (n=1,224). Results indicated that the reliability of both versions was adequate, and the factorial and construct validity were good. Findings also showed that the prevalence of pathological gamers estimated with a rigorous cut-off point was 7.7% for Spanish and 14.6% for British adolescents. The scale showed adequate sensitivity, specificity and classification accuracy in both countries, and was able to differentiate between social and potential pathological gamers, and from their addictive symptomatology. The implications of these findings are discussed

Objeto material del proceso penal y el proceso civil acumulado

Treball final de Grau en Criminologia i Seguretat. Codi: CS1044. Curs acadèmic 2014-2015Para la realización de este trabajo de investigación se estudió la parte referente al objeto del proceso del libro Derecho Jurisdiccional III, el cual se estudia en la Universidad Jaime I como referencia principal en esta materia. A partir de aquí se realizó un estudio de diferentes autores y vertientes para poder llegar a determinar, desde el punto de vista del autor, como se forma o construye el objeto material del proceso penal y civil acumulado. Esto significa que primero se determinó la importancia del objeto en el proceso, acto seguido se pasó a definir cuales eran los elementos identificadores del objeto material, en cuyo caso se desestimó la calificación jurídico-penal por su papel no relevante a la hora de definir éste, puesto que son el hecho criminal imputado, el hecho ilícito cometido en el espacio y el tiempo que desencadena el proceso, y la persona acusada, aquella sobre la que recaerá el 5 proceso, los elementos que verdaderamente van a definir la pretensión penal. Se realizó también un estudio sobre la litispendencia y la problemática que supone la determinación de en qué momento se da la interrupción de la prescripción. Por último se estudió la acumulación del proceso civil al proceso penal en los casos en los que la Ley lo permite, es aquí donde surgió la última controversia sobre si dicha acumulación llega a ser beneficiosa para el Estado o no, puesto que se entiende que para la víctima si lo es por el ahorro de tiempo al no tener que constituirse parte en dos procesos. Finalmente se redactaron una serie de conclusiones que vienen a reflejar como entiende el autor de dicho trabajo las controversias descritas en los párrafos anteriores.To carry out this research part of the process relating to the object of the book III Jurisdictional Law, which is studied in the Jaime I University as the main reference in this matter was studied. From here a study of different authors and springs are made to be able to determine, from the point of view of the author, as it is formed or build material subject to criminal and civil process accumulated. This means that first the importance of the object in the process thereupon went on to define what were the material object identifiers, in which case the criminal legal qualification for its important role not dismissed when it was determined defining , since they are the accused criminal act, the wrongful act in space and time that triggers the process and the person charged, the one on which it falls the process, elements that truly will define the criminal claim. A study on lis pendens and the problems posed by the determination of when the interruption of the limitation occurs was also performed. Finally accumulation civil trial studied the criminal proceedings in cases where the law permits, is where the latest controversy over whether such accumulation becomes beneficial for the state or did not arise, since it is understood that for the victim if it is by saving time by not having to become part of two processes. Finally some conclusions that come to reflect and understand the author of such work disputes described in the preceding paragraphs were drafted

En este trabajo me ocuparé de analizar algunos de los aspectos más importantes del mundo de la técnica tal y como éste se presenta en la sociedad occidental actual. Atenderé a la notable incidencia de los productos e instrumentos técnicos en la vida del hombre medio y, sobre todo, analizaré la profunda crisis de los deseos que aquél padece curiosamente en un mundo casi técnicamente perfecto, o lo que es igual, rebosante de facilidades y, sobre todo, de posibilidades de índole técnico-material. Para cumplir con mi propósito, recurriré a una serie de autores (Marcuse, Horkheimer, Adorno, Habermas, Sartori y Ortega) que complementan de forma excepcional mis ideas acerca de tan sorprendente hecho.In this paper I will try to analyze some of the outstanding aspects concerning the world of technique in the present western society. I will focus on the notable incidence of the technical products and devices upon the life of the common man. Above all, I will pay attention to the deep crisis of the wishes from which he suffers in a world which is almost technically perfect or, in other words, a society plentiful in facilities and specially in technical and material possibilities. In order to achieve this, I will recur to several authors (Marcuse, Horkheimer, Adorno, Habermas, Sartori, and Ortega), who complement exceptionally my ideas about this event

La antropología social en la obra de Ortega. Su contribución a la etnografía moderna

The following pages deal with the Ortega’s anthropology. I’m going to offer the Ortega’s contribution to modern’s ethnography. Ortega knew and debated the anthropological ideas of his time: evolutionist, particularist, difusionist, functionalist. Adopting a historical point of view, Ortega set out the reasons for his disagreement about the dogmatic, ethnocentric, evolutionist and progressive vision of the Western Europe in connection with of the universal history. He awards enormous importance in his writings to the recognition of ethnic and cultural horizons, which have been historically and traditionally forgotten, which turns him into the rigorous anthropologic theoretical one. These contributions that Ortega y Gasset realizes to the field of the anthropology in his social and cultural domain complete his reflections on the historical sense of the life and the purely vital perspective of every man and cultural society with which there deals specifically his historical and rational vital anthropology.Este trabajo versa sobre el impacto en Ortega de la antropología social como ciencia, ofreciendo su contribución a la etnografía moderna. Aquél conocía y debatía las ideas de las corrientes antropológicas de su tiempo: evolucionista, particularista, difusionista, funcionalista. Adoptando un punto de vista historicista, Ortega se opone a la visión dogmática, etnocéntrica, evolucionista y progresista de la Europa occidental acerca de la historia universal. Aportación al conocimiento de los hongos del S.E. de España. I

Primer inventario de hongos de la región murciana, observados en otoño de 1977. Figuran en él especies recogidas en la huerta, en jardines, dunas, pinares instalados sobre todo en el área potencial del Chamaeropo-Rhamnetum lrcioidis y del Quercetum rotrnrrli/bliae, hasta el límite del quejigar (en la Sierra de Caravaca).Se comenta el cortejo floristico hallado en cada tipo de ambiente. Entre las'especies mediterráneas interesantes pueden destacarse: Ceriporia bresadolae, sobre madera dura de pino, Boletopsisleucomelas, Camaropbpllus nuneogriseus, Tricholomaraligalum, T psammopus, Cortinarius ionochlorus, Ceastrum pseudostriatum.A preliminary list of fungi collected in late autumn of 1977 in the region of Murcia (SE Spain), including species found in orchards and parks, dunes, clear pine woods in the potential area of Chamarropo-Rhatnnetum lycioidis and in the potential area ofQuerce/um rotundi/oizar, to the same limit of the area of Quern's valentina (in the Sierra de Caravaca).For each ecological residence studied, typical ensemble of species is commented.
