Consumers’ Attitudes to Support Green Energy: A Case Study in Shanghai

Residents’ willingness to use green energy products is a major concern for different stakeholders and policymakers due to the reformed Chinese electricity market since 2015. This study focused on the Chinese consumer’s willingness to opt and pay for environmentally-friendly electricity sources in Shanghai’s residential sector. A questionnaire survey was used to find out the influence of gender, age, education, awareness and income level on consumers’ attitudes to alter their energy sources to green ones. The results indicated that income level and awareness are significant barriers in the usage of green energy products. Increasing the respondent’s awareness about the issues of non-green energy products convinced 97% of them to change their electricity sources completely or partly, in line with their monthly income. This clearly shows that clarifying the benefits of green energy products is a key tool to achieve a green environment in China

Experiences of remote teaching, technological pedagogical competencies and workload of teachers in northern Finland during the COVID-19 pandemic

In this study, we examine the experiences of teachers, particularly in relation to their remote teaching competencies, in the county of Lapland, North Finland, during the COVID-19 pandemic, as they face new pedagogical challenges in remote teaching. To identify the teachers’ competency needs in remote teaching, the study uses questionnaire data (N=164) collected from primary, secondary and upper secondary school teachers. The results of the systematic representative survey study are analysed using the technological pedagogical content knowledge (TPACK) model to investigate the preconditions for and challenges in implementing remote teaching in terms of teachers’ competencies. The participants’ responses indicate that different municipalities prepared for remote teaching and learning in quite diverse ways. Some municipalities lacked the necessary tools for remote learning, and the workload increase and job satisfaction experienced by teachers were related to the digital tools provided by their employers. The development of teachers’ diverse competencies is pivotal in teacher education and in-service teacher training so that they can acquire the ability to take initiative and function well in diverse and changing educational contexts. This study outlines the dimensions of teachers’ technological pedagogical competencies that were further developed from the TPACK framework

Pohjois-Suomen opettajien kokemuksia etäopetuksesta, teknologis-pedagogisesta osaamisesta sekä työn kuormittavuudesta COVID-19 pandemian aikana

Tässä artikkelissa tarkastelemme Lapin alueen opettajien etäopetukseen liittyviä kokemuksia COVID-19 -pandemian aikana. Opettajien etäopetuksen osaamistarpeiden tunnistamiseksi tutkimuksessa hyödynnetään kyselyaineistoa (N=164), joka on kerätty perusasteen ja toisen asteen opettajilta aikana, jolloin opettajat kohtasivat uusia pedagogisia haasteita etäopetukseen liittyen. Tutkimuksen tuloksia reflektoidaan teknologis-pedagogis-sisällöllisen tietämyksen mallin (TPACK) valossa. Tavoitteena on selvittää etäopetuksen toteuttamisen edellytyksiä ja haasteita opettajien osaamisen kannalta. Opettajien vastauksista voidaan päätellä, että kunnat olivat varautuneet etäopetukseen varsin eri tavoin. Joistakin kunnista etäopetuksen mahdollistavat työvälineet puuttuivat kokonaan. Opettajien työmäärän lisääntyminen ja heidän kokema työtyytyväisyys olivat yhteydessä käytössä olleisiin työnantajan antamiin digitaalisiin työvälineisiin. Opettajan perus- ja täydennyskoulutuksessa tulisi kiinnittää huomiota opettajien monipuolisen teknologis-pedagogista osaamisen kehittämiseen, jotta opettajat pystyvät toimimaan aktiivisesti erilaisissa muuttuvissa opetus- ja oppimiskonteksteissa. Tavoitteena oli luoda opaslehtinen, joka herättelee ja tukee vanhempia ottamaan aiheen rohkeasti puheeksi kotona. Projektin lähtökohtana on keväällä 2012 toteuttamamme projektityö: Seksuaalikasvatusta keminmaalaisille 8.luokkalaisille pojille. Projektityössä suunnittelimme ja toteutimme seksuaalikasvatustunteja rastimuotoisina Keminmaan keskuskoululla. Lähtökohtana ovat myös poikien heikommat tiedot seksuaaliterveydestä. Vanhemmilla on ensisijainen vastuu nuoren seksuaalikasvatuksesta. Opaslehtinen herättelee ja tukee vanhempia ottamaan seksuaalisuuden puheeksi kotona. Aiheina työssämme ovat: murrosikäisen pojan kasvu ja kehitys, seksuaalisuus ja seksuaalikasvatus. Projektityössä olemme käyttäneet hyödyksi opinnäytetyömme teoriapohjaa. Olemme hakeneet teoriatietoa vanhempien ja terveydenhoitajan roolista nuoren seksuaalikasvatuksessa. Olemme itse suunnitelleet ja toteuttaneet opaslehtisen vanhemmille. Saimme aikaan mielestämme toimivan ja vanhempia herättelevän opaslehtisen. The objective of this project was to create a guide leaflet which will support the parents in bringing up sexuality courageously at home. The basis of this project is our own project we executed in spring 2012: Sex education to eighth grade school boys in Keminmaa. In that project we planned and executed sex education classes in Central school of Keminmaa. The basis of this project is also boys’ weaker knowledge of sexuality. The parents have primary responsibility in young person’s sex education. The guide leaflet awakens and supports the parents in bringing up sexuality at home. The subjects of our project are: the growth and development of adolescent boy, sexuality and sex education. In this project we have profited from our thesis’ theory basis from spring 2012. We have looked for theory data from the parents’ and public health nurses roles in adolescent’s sex education. We have designed and executed the guide leaflet on our selves. In our opinion we accomplished on creating a functional guide leaflet, which awakens the parents. The guide leaflet supports the parents in bringing up sexuality at home with junior high school boy
